Lady Sofia

Lady Sofia
She saw that she had these Revolutionaries' focus - that was good, that meant that what she wanted to do was working. If they directed their attacks at her instead of having to choosing to fight with their full power that could threaten the entire island in a real tussle with the other combatants, her desires were being fulfilled; although not in the way she would've hoped it to. She was skeptic about how the island could take another quake, and she didn't want even further devastation to threaten it.

Would her layers armor be able to take on this attack? The armor that her friend Mashyuu so diligently had made for her? The Skypiean steel he so often spoke so fondly about?

She had no idea. She had never fought something this strong before.

[Event] An Emerald In The Rough - Page 5 D6133f839e86d1cbfe36843c86f50a01

She could only hope in her heart that his friendship would be enough protect her here - his armor.

At this point, with them not choosing to flee, there was only one option left - to fight. It seemed that Beckham was going to make the most of this situation she had made, as her eyeing of her audience revealed the Vice Admiral's ambitions to invest into this chance that Sofia has opened up for him.

"RUN, SOFIA!" the tiny Marine in her head insisted.

But she didn't.

Utterly pretending to have the strength and confidence to take on the attack, she simply rose a palm towards the clay-wielder.

"I won't let our attacks threaten the people." she stated during his exaggerated wind-up. "We have to stop fighting. We: all of us. Now."

And right up until the very last moment, buying all of the time possible, right up until the edge of the spear reached the edge of her barrier, she would make herself appear to be mighty and worthy to the best of her ability.

Holding her pose and attitude, looking right at them with serenity and determination.

Fearless.

But her farce would crumble the instant after.

The spear would pierce clean through her Castled Barrier shield, to then travel to her opened palm, and cut through the Phantom Raider's gauntlet effortlessly like a hot knife through butter, then through the reinforced gloves that surrounded her fingers, to then dig into her skin, the muscles of her hand, into its bone - and travel further, skewering through her arm until the spear hit the other end of the arena.

Amputated, she would stumble to a side for a moment as the pain overwhelmed her, and her internal clone would scramble through the corridors of her body to start to wrap the gushing wound with bandages. Sofia mustered the conciousness to coordinate with it to have the bandages expand to their real size and crudely torniquet the opening shut, her vision starting to go blurry, tempting her to lose awareness, but she fought it, gripping to her wake with her diamond convinction.

"Was that all?" she would then taunt, finally straightening up and finding a new, awkward balance to her body, and looking to the criminals, blood dripping from her side.

The execution was no more. This turned into a battle against the Rev's and the Queen's forces, very quickly. With the prisoners caught in the brunt of this power struggle. Another person jetted herself into the chaos. She seemed...familiar. Then his tiger eyes bore upon Yuurei once more, seeing both of them at once triggered something within him. A memory...it was faint. But it came with a strong rush and an immediate headache began to plague him.

He knew who the lady was. And he knew who Yuurei was, it seems before the execution. The memory was hardly doing him justice in this frantic moment. He began to back away from the arena. There was so much going on it had a greater impact on his mind than he thought. For one reason over the other, he knew these people. He had half a mind to go on and help them, but it was a suicide mission. The clay man immediately attacked her after she projected a strong shout for them to stop.

He tossed some black spear at her using his dangerous powers, and it completely sliced right through her. She had a strange power herself that erected a barrier of some sort to stop the attack. It could not stop the large spear and she ended up losing an arm because of it. This prompted Raijin to help. He did not expect a former General to attack someone who was trying to stop the fight.

The man did not even blink an eye. There was evil on both sides it seemed. Whomever these people were that he apparently knew, he should not get himself killed for them. He still had to a battle to fight, but the chaos here was only going to get bigger. Should he help the Revs or should he help these two who seemed to be the lesser of the evils currently around right now. Eyeing the queen and the Admiral floating above them.

Questions...with no answers to them. Raijin held a hand to his head as the headache continued. He would still have to keep an eye on the situation. It seemed to be coming to a climax with all the things happening now.

Yuurei

Marine
Marine

Yuurei
Yuurei was ready to protect himself right now. He wasn’t sure if Philipa had drawn everyone’s attention, but he didn’t think they would let him off the hook. His eyes started in the direction of Famine, and Hrungnir as he was waiting for their next move. He wanted to attack them, but he knew that there was a chance that he might cause his own death by doing just that. Instead, he watched Hrungnir changed the shape of his halberd after turning to look at her. His eyes widen because that wasn’t good, she was going to be attacked by this man, which he hoped that didn’t happen. Still, he saw what was created, and what happened next. He hoped to god the girl would be able to dodge it in time, or at least survive the attack.

Yuurei wanted to ask her and see if she knew his name too. This was all too weird, but his attention never left that of Hrungnir and Famine. Still, the heat came back and Yuurei already knew that Beckham was on the offense. He was attacking the Clayman without hesitation, which was perfect. Still, there was one other person he knew would interfere, and he was ready for it. She had defended against Beckham’s attack to protect her partner, which brought Yuurei to move away even more. He was at first thirty meters, but watching her petals go into smoke, brought him to realize that this was very familiar. Koko the clown had done this to him before, and then he was attacked from the smoke. Still, he was now at thirty-five meters, and moving back would also bring him to bring out Kusanagi once more.

This time he had Armament on both of his blades, and had them out in front of him and crossed against each other. His Observation had also been active as he knew where Famine was located but seen that she didn’t move from her current location, but he could feel the intent to kill coming his way and towards his abdomen. This brought him to bring his swords lower and at the same time cover his entire torso in armament. The twelves blades that he sensed coming his way had given him no time to react, be surprised or try to dodge. He had to trust in his blades to fend for themselves. Still, they would hit against the blades, and nothing would happen to Yuurei’s blades. They would take no damage from that attack as their durability were far greater than her attacks.

He still grunted though as some of the dozen blades that connected with his swords had been blocked, but their trajectory had changed. He could feel the cuts on his right leg some on the side of his left waist and even some on both of his arms. They were strong attacks, but he knew he couldn’t parry them each of the hits had forced his arms to move closer to his body. He only hoped that he would be able to pray they didn’t break through his sword’s defense. He was panting though as each attack that did connect had brought him to be pushed back to about forty-seven meters away. He was tired and panting for air and he knew he needed more time. I keep defending and damages will be minimal. Still, I think the wound on my leg is a bit bigger than I thought it would be.[i][i] He thought to himself as he knew he had to stand up and live.

”I didn’t think it would turn out like this.” He said to himself as he didn't want to look at what happen to Phillipa.

At this moment he was waiting for Famine to attack him again. He was sure she would continue to attack him or find a new target to go after. He doubt the later would happened, so he waited for the next barrage of attacks while blood was spilling from his legs, his waist, and his arm.

Notice:

The difference in power between Yuurei and Hrungnir had been minimal at best, with the advantage in their fight belonging to Hrungnir solely due to his experience in combat. If the man had pursued a fight with Beckham, even with the Vice Admiral's devil fruit holding superiority over his own, the battle would once again find conclusion through combat experience; though, who would win was still debatable. However, when comparing Philipa Sofia to Hrungnir, there was no feasible universe in which the frail, noble woman would have succeeded. The gap between their strength and experience was so large that it was almost visible. Anyone, especially having born witness to the fight up until now, should have been able to gauge their success if they intervened. Yet, this woman had held firm in her resolve - and had suffered the price.

Lady Sofia's arm had been pierced length-wise by the spear that Hrungnir had thrown. With no defense to mount against power that great, what was left of this arm was little more than scraps of flesh dangling down from her shoulder, yet she continued to stand firm in the presence of men far greater than her. Hrungnir, a man that had been cackling and goading his opponents to fight the entire time he'd been on stage, was quiet for the very first time. He held his arm up over Famine's chest as a signal to stop, reigning in both of their bloodlust against Beckham and Yuurei all because of a single woman.

Famine, who had just launched an attack against Yuurei and had plenty of ammunition left in her arsenal, glanced over at her former superior. She wasn't as battle-crazed as Hrungnir and hadn't been so deeply swayed by Sofia's actions, but out of respect for the man she'd intervened to save, she stopped moving. With her eyes locked on Hrungnir a moment passed before the man finally spoke up.

"We're leaving."

"But-"

With a side-eyed glance from Hrungnir, Famine's words were cut short. Instead, she listened. Waving her signature umbrella around in front of her, the plume of rose petals she had raised (all 987 blades) began to swarm around the two of them in a tight formation. The wall of petals was so dense that visibility of the two of them was reduced to zero for several moments before they burst outwards in a non-threatening explosion. Both Hrungnir and Famine had disappeared under the the veil with no trace of escape.

Hrungnir:
Famine Invention - Petalic Umbrella  - B Class:
Revolutionary Chief - Famine :
Black Bloom [Mode]:

Although Beckham was shameless in his assault on Hrungnir in his moment of distraction, even the Vice Admiral was brought to his knees by the resulting actions. Philipa Sofia had shown her will in a glorious manner, but what was truly cause for Beckham's hesitation was Hrungnir's own. He'd fought with Hrungnir on numerous occasions in the past and at no point had the battle-crazed lunatic chosen to pause of his own accord. This moment in the execution was a moment for the history books, although few outside of the event would know how powerful it truly was.

Vice Admiral Beckham's hesitation would prove to be his undoing. Famine and Hrungnir acted first by creating their veil of rose petals and, try as he might, the explosive power of his Jet Jet no Mi wasn't strong enough to break through the sheer volume of rose petals that sealed the two of his targets off. When the petals finally dispersed, they were gone, and he had lost. Two major targets had come in front of him to be executed and he'd failed to subdue either of them. He was sure to be reprimanded heavily later on.

The magic trick that Hrungnir and Famine had pulled off was only a small bit of trickery on their part. Any who'd been watching would be able to figure out their tactic. Famine was able to conceal them, but it was Hrungnir who had guaranteed their escape. His devil fruit abilities granted him mobility underground if he so chose, but he wasn't the type of man to use that tactic very often. Beckham could have attempted to pursue them by blowing the ground apart, but his devil fruit wasn't superior to Hrungnir's on that playing field - he was well aware.

There was no one to blame but himself for the losing track of the two Revolutionaries. Yuurei had fought hard throughout his time on the field and had gassed out when the finale had begun, but against his opponent, Beckham couldn't blame him. Yet, something had to happen now that these two had disappeared. The easiest way to cut his loss was by arresting the catalyst of the Revolutionaries' escape - Philipa Sofia.

Through the air, Beckham moved over in the noble woman's direction setting himself down less than ten meters from her. He continued to walk towards her, with purpose, but not in a hurry. "You're under arrest for interfering with World Government affairs." He was prepared for the event that she attempted to escape, but his hope was that the injured woman would accept her loss and he wouldn't be forced to punish her further.

By this time, Kuro and Blanc had finally exited the tunnel to find little more than the final scenes of the fight. They stood by while Beckham moved to take Sofia into custody, but were prepared to assist him as well if she tried to fight back.

Low had been standing by waiting for the noble woman to act, but he was wholly unprepared for the events that had actually happened. He wasn't going to act in her defense until she had proven herself in his eyes and her show of will had done exactly that in excess. The mink, who had been a member of the former Pirate King's crew, couldn't help but have a deep respect for the woman that had showed herself in the concluding moments of the execution.

Rather than taking a page from Hrungnir's book and moving to escape, Low took a page from her's. He stood firm, waiting to be taken back into Marine custody and return to Impel Down until the next time they tried to put him to death.

Edward Low:

All members of the Five Hands, the snipers, and the Queen herself were stunned in the wake of Philipa Sofia's actions. The Queen wanted her head, but held her tongue. Lulusia had been the host of the World Government's execution of these pirates, but that was all they were. They had no control over the events and were forced to watch quietly as Beckham moved towards the woman that had intervened.

“They’re… gone, Sofia.” Anna Blue mentioned, solemnly, as the noble outside struggled to keep awareness, but yet still, stood proudly. “The Revs are gone.”

“Vice Admiral Beckham… is coming. He’s going to arrest us.” the little girl then added, crestfallen.

And Sofia knew that well, as she turned her face straight towards him. She had seen that he had failed to move, overwhelmed, and was now going to try to pin his failure on herself.

Not taking the responsibility for his own actions, not even a pinch of shame or remorse - what a pitiful man, Sofia thought, as droplets of blood leaked from her shoulder. Was this the sort of honor that was among the Marines nowadays? Shameless.

And she, just like the Lulusian nobility, had no power here against this man - much less than them, in fact, as a mere posh visiting foreigner, from some far and irrelevant island.

But she would stand.

“Of course, Vice Admiral.” Sofia then stated, agreeing with the Marine, politely, with a degree of friendliness that was alien to the situation. “I’m sure that this will be a open-and-shut case - given all of the Den Den cameras that have been broadcasting. All across the Grand Line.”

[Event] An Emerald In The Rough - Page 5 6445a0d31f10a34d68e7f5bcbb96fe12

She pointed up towards the forgotten flying devices with her remaining hand, her face still steeled towards the rocket-man, with a warm and piercing smile, oozing with undertone that she knew what he had done - and she wanted him to know that as well, crystal clear. “To reveal the truth.”

Sofia wasn't fooling around. If this dishonorable scum wanted to tango with her, she most definitely would.

And once she had underlined that his cowardice had been broadcasted and public, she offered her deal.

An offer of salvation from a crippled, powerless woman, to the most powerful man on the scene.

“And, once it's all settled and I'm free, my dearest Vice Admiral Beckham." she stated, in a near-whisper, speaking with intimate, colluding honesty to him "I look forwards to sharing the tales of our heroics together with the rest, and how well we all did, how infallibly brave you were, hrm? How about it?”

If she got off the hook, she would cover for his failure. Or else.

She would have no qualms about playing his game with him, after all it was the game of hypocrisy she unfortunately had to play constantly in order to keep her World Government position yet advance her plans against it. This was the war that she fought. Not one of violence. But one of words. And if he was going to fling at her shit, she would toss back the exact same chocolate pudding.

She just hoped it would work.

Raijin
The madness had finally ended. Raijin's dilemma and headache would be resolved when he witnessed the Revolutionary Chief disappear along with the former General. He had knowingly uncovered a hidden memory involving these two people, and just like fate, they showed. They were familiar to him, not as enemies, but as friends. He had half a notion to help them, however if he had helped he would have risked attacking his faction as well.

He would not disturb such a high ranking mission either so this left him in a little bit of a bind. But now that Famine had used her notorious powers and whisked themselves away. Raijin would take a sigh of relief. Whatever happened now was out of his hands and there was nothing much for him to do now. Turning around he took one last fleeting glance at the Queen. Next time. With her army and guards all around her. She was a basically untouchable. He would have to revisit any means of him actually bringing the fight to her.

Johnny D. Raijin turned around and just the way he had come in, walked back through the arena spectator section. He could see the carnage from the earlier fight was spread across the area. Building debris and all other sorts mayhem. This execution was something to behold, as there no stopping the combined power of that man Yuurei and the flying navy Admiral who blew apart the falling building. A spectacular failure for the Marines as their most dangerous enemies escaped right from under their noses. Then Raijin left the arena for good.

Yuurei

Marine
Marine

Yuurei
Yuurei was panting, but minimizing his movements were for the best right now. He was on the defense, but he was slowly gaining his energy back. He couldn’t believe that there were a lot of strong people in this world, but what he knew he needed was a group of individuals who would have his back in the future to come. He knew of Philipa, but he couldn’t put his finger on it; he just knew her name and that she was familiar. The smoke dispersing he could see Hrungnir and Famine next to each other, but he wondered what was going on. He was signaling her for something, but he didn’t know for what. He wanted to stop them when he heard the words that Hurngnir spoke of, but he felt like it would be futile. I let them home go now, and go after him later when I recover. He thought to himself.

Still, he knew he was in combat, so he stood in a defensive formation. It wouldn’t take long for them to disappear as the way they did was a sight to remember. Beckham tried to stop their escape, but it wouldn’t work because of the immense number of blades that Famine had conjured. He couldn’t see them visually, but his Observation Haki would allow him to see exactly where they were, and where they were moving. It wouldn’t matter because Yuurei wouldn’t be able to do anything in this condition. When it was all over the only people that remained were Low, Beckham, Yuurei, and Philipa in the arena. He watched Beckham land on the ground, and it was close to Philipa. He wasn’t sure why he was so close to her, but he felt like something bad was going to happen, and soon he was walking towards her.

This can’t be good. What is he thinking? He thought to himself as he got out of his position and sheathed his blades. When he heard the words that came out of Beckham’s mouth, his eyes widen with shock to hear what he heard. The presence of two others had appeared, and it was from what seemed to be underground. This made Yuurei move his right hand onto his lip and bit his thumbnail. They were underground? That was where Shoda was, which means that he…Damn it I should have told him to stay above ground.[i][i] He thought to himself as things were turning out worse than he expected. Yuurei wanted to speak, but his words couldn’t form or come out right now.

His ears were all in on anything that was said from now on. He heard what Sofia had said, and could only let out a small chuckle as he remembered the den den cameras from the beginning of the execution. He sighed because this was getting out of hand and they didn’t need to fight anymore because they were all on the same side. He stood where he was, for he didn’t want to cause the two new arrivals to make a move on him by mistake.

”Vice Admiral Beckham. Please reconsider; she would only become a martyr if you arrest her. She isn’t in a state to fight and from words, I don’t think she will fight, if you appoint me as a Shichibukai, I will take her under my wing and we will do what we can to find the whereabouts on Hrungnir and Famine.” He said this to Beckham as he was trying to avoid any more quarrels with the people here.

”It’s not just her though Beckham, there are a few interesting people around here, that I would like to invite to my side of things instead of them being sent back to Impel Down. I will welcome all that are here in this arena to join me.” He said this part out loud hoping that he would gain members to join him as a Shichibukai because what is a Shichibukai without a crew.

If it ended here Yuurei would request two more things from Beckham. One he would ask him he if they had a sword that matched the quality of Benihime or Kusanagi. He would explain that his fighting style is not fully complete and that he needs more swords to be able to fight at an optimal level as he couldn’t always rely on his fruit’s ability due to what had happened today. Two he would also ask if his bounty could be raised and then frozen. He wanted his bounty to rise, and it was so that the people throughout the land would fear and tremble when they knew that Yuurei was on their island. Those were his request, and hopefully, he would be able to gain them without a problem.

Oden Beckham continued walking towards Sofia as she spoke, turning his head to glance at the den-dens that had been set up to broadcast the event. Most of them had been broken by the power struggle that had happened, but the few that had survived were still relaying everything happening to the world outside. The fact that this was still happening was unfortunate, but Beckham had already resolved himself to shore up the losses that the World Government and the Marines had already suffered. If his name were to be further dragged through the mud by appearing as cowardice, then that's just something he'd have to deal with as part of his punishment for his personal failures.

"Call it cowardice if you must, but I hadn't planned on an outlier like you entering the fray." Philipa Sofia's actions and the misfortune of letting Hrungnir and Famine escape had forced his hand, but the vice admiral respected the noble woman nonetheless. Had they met on a different field, their relationship may have been different, but as it stood, she was standing against the World Government and would have to be dealt with accordingly. "Until your paperwork is finished, you can enjoy your stay in Impel Down."

Vice Admiral Beckham ignored Yuurei's pleas, moving around behind Sofia with a pair of seastone handcuffs in hand. Taking her wrists, he gently placed the cuffs on her and signaled for Kuro and Blanc to come forward to guide her out of the arena. As the two CP9 agents began to walk over, Beckham finally turned to address the pirate that had been the catalyst for all of this. However, before he spoke, the vice admiral motioned for the den-dens to cut transmission and allow him to speak freely.

"Unfortunately, none of the members of this execution are up for recruitment. However, if this woman chooses to join your cause, then she's not technically under Marine influence at this moment. I will grant her this last chance to grasp at freedom, but that is all."

Yuurei continued further, requesting more out of the vice admiral. In exchange for his freedom, the pirate had been granted the opportunity to prove himself and execute some of the criminals that had been delivered to the island, but he still wanted more. The audacity frustrated the Marine, but he managed to force out a small laugh at it. "The greed of pirates is never-ending. Denied, however, if you still wish to follow the rules of the World Government, we may be able to discuss things further at a later date."

She accepted being cuffed, in ample compliance to order.

The cuffs felt cold. And uncompromising, as they solidly strapped to her wrists.

[Event] An Emerald In The Rough - Page 5 4qLkFMk

Then, she could feel it, the little strength she had left leaving her, spilling like a broken fishing net - she fell to her knees, wide-eyed. So much pressure. So much power.

She wasn't going to be able to stay awake like this. She had been struggling already as it was to stay conscious, and this... this new force.

Pulling her down.

She remembered those times on Jordsand as her mind slipped into visions and dreams, too weak to hinge onto reality anymore. How she helped the starving Marines by colluding with the pirates who were opposing them, back on that faraway island. How ironic that the treasure she had gotten from there was now going to be what was acting against her now.

If this was the power of Seastone, then it was now obvious to her why it was so coveted.

She didn't notice that her head was now against the ground, as she lost awareness for a few seconds, lost in her reminiscing fantasies, for her to then suddenly awaken by arcing her back upwards - still kneeling - and gasping for air, as if she was drowning.

Sofia could feel the force of these cuffs clawing down on her, like weights on hooks, impaled all around her body, trying to drag her down.

And her lips felt salty. Her skin, wet.

Was she imagining all of this, she wondered? She didn't know anymore. Everything looked like a chaotic soup.

"...t freedom..." she heard, through the blur, echoing harder than any else.

Freedom.

Swaying, still bleeding from her side, blind, she stood up again.

"Freedom." she stated in her stupor, staring into the nothingness ahead of her.

"I... I still h-have more to do." she added, out of context, a mish-mash of thoughts flooding her mind, and speaking out of mere instinct.

"I-I cannot stop, I w-will not yield." Sofia continued in her daze, relentlessly defiant. "Not u-until... my work is done. I-I will do whatever it takes...

...to fight. To continue.

Until my dream, is done."

And she would lose consciousness, and slam against the ground in front of her.

Yuurei
Yuurei heard the words the Beckham spouted from his mouth. He was surprised that he was truly taking her in, but it was something he should have known they would have done. His right hand forming a fist, but that was all he did. The grip got tighter, and soon enough he would bleed a little bit. He didn’t think this woman deserved to go to Impel Down, but that was exactly what was happening. She was cuffed, but he noticed that the girl had been rendered unconscious. It was because of what Beckham had done to her, but she had lost an entire arm, which he was surprised that she was able to stand up with her conscious for so long. She was soon taken away by Cipher Poll, which left Yuurei, Beckham, and Low the only three in the arena.

He made himself relax as he sighed and watched as Beckham looked at him. He was told that she would be the only person that could join him, if she chose to her freedom. At this moment he noticed she couldn’t answer him right now, so that would be a decision she would have to make when she was conscious. He nodded as he was glad that he was reasonable and had a smile of happiness appear from his face.

”Thank you Beckham, you are kind. I hope she chooses wisely when she regains her consciousness.” He said to the man as he had asked for other things, but he knew his chances were slim on the other requests.

He heard the chuckled, which caused him to chuckle as well. He knew the idea was farfetched, but he had to try and ask. He heard what he had to say, and of course he was still planning on siding with the World Government. That was something that he planned on doing from the beginning of this event. He didn’t run when he could have as he had a few chances to do so at the beginning.

”You are right we pirates are greedy, so I just had to ask. Still, my decision hasn’t changed. I will be siding with you and helping the World Government in their future goals.” He said as he happy this was all done.

Yuurei had things that he needed and wanted to do right now. He had decided to pick up a new profession and was hoping using the World Government’s connect he would be able find someone who could teach him. Then there was the fact that he had to reunite with old friends and see what their excuse was, for what happened to him not too long ago. It wasn’t just that. He had to find this Raijin character. This man had come across Yuurei’s thought as someone he knew before, but he never remembered meeting him. That was another person he needed to confront, and hopefully he would be able to do it soon.

That wasn’t all, he knew from the appearance of those two men, that Shoda met his demise like he wanted. He did remembered the talk they had about the a destructive weapon that his father had made. Shoda knew where it was, and what it was call, but he never got the chance to have that man reveal it to him. Still, there was hope as there was one man who had the information and it was his father. That was a man he was going to have to visit a little earlier than he thought, but it was good to see his parents again.
