Legosi's left arm was on fire as he jumped, causing a howl of pain to come out of him, his eyes closing tightly and that howl transforming into a growl as his teeth gritted tightly once more, the act of his jumping alone causing Bermudo's claws to rake down his arm. What should've been the final decisive strike now became something more of a messy attack with this, and Legosi felt nothing more than both pain and rage from this. There was no satisfaction with ending things this way. If it weren't for the fact he was already committed he would've just went for stomping on Bermudo's neck for having the audacity of leaving such a permanent mark on Legosi's arm like that. The least he can do is make sure he hits the lion with all of his might. Simply falling was no longer an option.

"Fine!" He shouted as he violent swung his left arm upwards, pretty much cutting the entirety of his left forearm open up to an inch deep due to this, but it was worth using his strength to help force him down faster. He wanted to get as much out of this as possible. Legosi may not be the sadistic type, but he was more than vengeful and bitter enough to make this into as vicious an attack as he could muster. He may be get the ending he wanted, but he would be damned if he was going to let this thing off that easily now that he inflicted such a wound upon Legosi.

He felt his knees make contact with the foe's body, his knees digging into Bermudo's chest and gut, causing the bastard to lurch forward in pain, coughing. Legosi's eyes were twitching with anger, his teeth showing from the look of scorn he was giving Bermudo as Bermudo himself came face-to-face with the stag. Legosi could feel the lion make sure that he dug his claws as deep as he could get them into his arm, the surprised look remaining on his face for but a moment longer. He wanted this moment to last, however, and so the deer Mink would use his right hand to reach behind Bermudo's head, holding the lion up for a few more moments thanks to the support of his shaking hand. "You're no hunter, you'll never be one." And with that he would release his hand, allowing Bermudo to lay back, his arm releasing from Legosi's left arm.

Legosi once again staggered off of Bermudo, clambering to his feet like a drunkard attempting to wake up from their stupor, where he would look at his left arm, seeing the tan fur caked in blood, the red liquid dripping from his knuckles, the entirety of his forearm and even a portion of his elbow feeling as though someone had shoved it into an oven. He would then look outwards to the crowd, his eyes glazed over. "Buck, Buck, Buck, Buck!" They cheered, but for him it was nothing more than white noise, a loud ringing in his ears that slowly faded away. Taking a single step back to help reposition and balance himself, Legosi would actually reach up to his cracked left Antler. It was nearing time for him to shed them anyways, so he may as well make one last show before closing the curtain.

Reaching up with his shaking and bloodied left arm, Legosi would grab the antler tightly, pulling as hard as he can and effectively breaking it off, leaving a splintered, lightly bleeding horn left, where he would then hold the broken antler outwards, dropping it on top of Bermudo. "Here's your prize." With that and the dropping of his left arm, his right fist would rise up above his head, a sign that he remains not only standing, but strong.

The gutteral laughs of Goh can be heard as the short fat man would scramble back up and into the ring, where he approached Legosi with an oddly colored fruit, one that resembled a pear with odd symbols carved into it. "Ladies and Gentlemen, the official Beast of Jaya!" Goh would announce into his microphone before bringing it away from his mouth, where he would lean towards Legosi. "Thanks for the fun, doll. When you get better feel free to come again. The money'll be brought out to you shortly~."

Legosi could do nothing more than scoff in disgust as he left, sliding out of the concrete ring to find someone to patch up his left arm, grabbing the fruit and eating it with his right. As far as he could tell, it just tasted like a perfectly ordinary pear.

Taiyo

Taiyo
Taiyo came back into the view of Bermudo, who continued to beat upon the massive man that he'd been facing. Bror however, didn't seem to be content with allowing that to happen. Sometime into the beating, Bror managed to grab Bermudo's fist, removing that he'd placed around his beard, and Tossing the lion man away with ease. Bermudo landed hard on the platform of the arena, upon his back, and Bror did not give him any time to catch his breath. Bror wrapped his insanely large hand around Bermudo's head. Four of his fingers were wrapped in a grip around Bermudo's skull, while his thumb was jammed into Bermudo's mouth. Bermudo attempted to fight back to the best of his ability, managing to draw more blood from the massive man with his claws, placing several marks within his wrist. Bror responded swiftly by smashing Bermudo's head into the floor of the arena. Taiyo grimaced at the sheer brutality of the fight. While he'd been trying to gauge the abilities of the fighters, he still did not take enjoyment from seeing the men hurt one another.

'This is intense.... They all must need the beli badly.'

He knew better than anyone the desperate need for money and resources, but had never thought to go about obtaining this way. Earlier he'd tried to rationalize why people would take enjoyment from watching this go on, but this looked seriously painful. He silently hoped that the announcer would take the fighters' health into consideration more so than the show they were putting on for him. Unbeknownst to him, that would not be the case. Bermudo, in what seemed to be what Taiyo could only call complete desperation and lack of options, let out an immense roar, loud enough to be heard above the noise of the crowd echoing throughout the warehouse. He then brought the force of his jaw, and his massive feline teeth down upon the large man's thumb. Bror immediately erupted with screams of pain, quickly trying his best to free his thumb from the clasps of Bermudo's mouth. Bermudo's grip was too powerful, and with one swift movement, he ripped his head away from Bror, all while maintaining the grip he'd placed around the finger, ripping the finger clean from the man's hand. Bror turned his attentions away from Bermudo immediately, and focused towards the wound he'd just received. His screams of agony filled the warehouse, but were soon to be silenced by Bermudo himself. He still had more left in him, going as far as to cut open the back of Bror's right leg once he'd turned his back to him, and then Slashing a gash across the left side of the man's face, immensely damaging his left eye.

"Stop! He's had enough!!"

Taiyo had become too fed up, and too disturbed to continue watching without making his grievances known. He yelled toward Bermudo at the top of his lungs, trying his best to overtake the sounds of the yelling crowd. There was no reason for him to continue on like this, he'd already won. was he doing this strictly for the beli reward? If he was, he wouldn't be spending so much time intentionally maiming his opponent. Did he have a personal grudge against the man? Or was he simply a sadist, trying to cause another person as much harm as possible? Taiyo didn't know the reason behind the lion man's actions, but they indefinitely left a bad taste in his mouth. He was strong, but what use was strength if he had no intentions of using it to help? What good was his fighting ability if it was only to be used to brutalize those weaker than him just for the sake of doing it? Taiyo then realized that he could not solely assess the combat ability of the fighters, but their motives and purpose behind fighting as well. Senseless violence was not something that would help Taiyo spread his ideologies across the seas, nor was it something that he wanted to partake in.

Taiyo's attentions were quickly turned back to the fight at hand, as Bror tried his best to fight back. The one's he'd received were very quickly taking their toll on him, as he drunkenly stumbled towards Bermudo, and ending up falling in his direction. His formidable size made this an easy move see through, as Bermudo quickly side stepped as the large man fell to the ground. Bermudo's onslaught wasn't done yet. He quickly placed himself on top of Bror's back, and began bashing his head into the arena floor. Bror quickly began to slip in and out of consciousness, but just as he thought the attack was over, Bermudo ended it by standing up, and stomping on the back of the large man's head, knocking him out cold. Taiyo was filled with even more distaste towards Bermudo and his actions. He was going too far. He hoped that someone else would share his assessment, but the lion's actions were met with nothing but uproar of excitement from the rest of the crowd. Taiyo's attentions turned to that of the other fighting left standing. The deer man. He was visibly in digust of the lion's actions as well, Tightening his fists to prepare for his next fight. A smile appeared across Taiyo's face as he witnessed this. He was now rooting for the deer man.

The two engaged in a conversation, the contents of which Taiyo still couldn't make out from the overbearing sounds coming from the seemingly mindless crowd. After a few moments of talking, Bermudo made the first attack, lunging towards Buck with a right claw and a jab for his stomach. Buck responded swiftly, with moving out of the way of the attack, and then aiming a jab at the Lion's stomach. the jab connected, seemingly knocking the wind out of the lion man. Despite the connected hit, he clearly was not ready to give in just yet. As Buck aimed a left hook towards Bermudo, he swiftly managed to lean his upper body back, and out of the way of Buck's fist. Bermudo would then attempt to grab at the Buck, throwing him over to get him off his balance, and then aimed his fist to connect with the deer man's temple. The Buck reacted to this quickly, and after being brought up within the air, brought his head down, protecting his brains from the blow, and causing Bermudo's fist to make contact with his antler. A crack within the antler was visible on the buck's head, but he did not let this slow down his movement. He would quickly attempt and land a strike upon Bermudo's mouth with his elbow. The strike caused Bermudo to fall backwards, sending Buck down along with him. Buck quickly got back up to his feet, and attempted to jump up into the air and away from Bermudo, who'd happened to still have a tight grip around his left arm. Bermudo, almost in a way to spite Buck, cut deep into the arm he'd placed his grip skidding it across as Buck leaped into the air. Buck let out howls of pain, but continued his attack. As he came down from his leap, he landed directly back into Bermudo's chest knees first, causing him to cough up in pain. He took another moment to grab the back of Bermudo's head with his right arm, speaking to him before dropping him down to lay flat on his back. The deer stammered up to stand over Bermudo, victorious.

"Buck, Buck, Buck, Buck!"

The crowd erupted in unison to cheer on the deer man, winner of the fighting tournament. Taiyo smiled upon seeing the deer man come out the victor, He had been rooting for him after all. Despite the battle already being done, Buck was not done displaying his dominance. He took grip of the cracked antler placed upon his head, applying for to it until it broke off, and then stretched his hand forward, dropping the broken antler directly on top of Bermudo. The crowd erupted in even louder cheers as the fat man hurried back into the arena, laughing all the way. within his hand was something that caused Taiyo's eyes to widen, shocking him once he'd taken a few moments to wonder if he was seeing it correctly.

"No way...... it's one of the fruits of power!"

Taiyo couldn't believe what he was seeing. A devil fruit. He could tell by the strange color, and the odd symbols riddled into it. He had come late, and thus hadn't heard the announcer introduce the fruit as an extra reward for winning the tournament.  He was only aware of their existence due to his prior experiences as apart of his uncle's pirate crew. his Uncle Hoshi was in constant pursuit of one up until his death. He constantly told Taiyo tales of those who'd possessed the devil fruits, and the power that they bestowed upon the individuals who'd eaten them at the cost of never being able to swim again. Out of all of the islands they'd searched, The Hoshi pirates could never seem to find the fruit that Hoshi desired the most. Taiyo had only seen the powers of a devil fruit up close once, from one of the most powerful people he'd ever known. He knew that anyone with the power of a devil fruit had to be of an asset to him. He had no clue which one the fat man was carrying, but he knew that was only more incentive for him to get The deer man to join his crew.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the official Beast of Jaya!"

The crowd erupted once more in applause for The Buck, Taiyo following along with him. He could think of the benefits associated with getting the Buck to join him. He watched as the Buck took his prize, leaving the ring and eating it with his right hand. Taiyo knew that this was his opportunity. He moved outside of the crowd, pushing through the people who'd been watching beside him, heading directly towards the Buck. He stopped a few feet away from him, smiling in order to display a kind demeanor as he introduced himself.

"That was quite the fight you put up in there. You're incredibly strong. Congratulations."

He extended out his right fist, anticipating it to be bumped by the deer man.

"My name is Taiyo. Taiyo Nensho. It's a pleasure to meet you, Buck."

Bermudo
Bermudo would just lay on the hard concrete arena floor in silence, his rapid breathing slowing more and more down as the dopamine's effects were quickly vanishing from his system. More and more of his mind was cleared as this went on, his excitement from the violence fading and his sensible faculties returning. No words could really describe how he felt. Though the stings of defeat and anger were still in him, Bermudo simply swallowed them down rather than let them fester. This wasn't the first time he's lost something big, especially with living out in the dregs of Jaya. Even as the crowd cheered Buck's name and his words still fresh in his mind, Bermudo grew indifferent.

"Though I talked about us being predator and prey, and how the hunter can become the hunted, I never said I was one, stag." He thought, almost managing a small smile if it weren't for the fact that his mouth and torso hurt. Letting out a single sigh Bermudo would try to force himself up into a sitting position until he heard a loud snapping nose. Looking towards the source, he simply saw Buck now holding his bloody, broken off antler while the stub lightly oozed with blood. With no words he dropped it onto Bermudo's chest.

"Here's your prize."

Bermudo simply stared at the now dying appendage that laid on his chest, no real reaction forming on his face for moment. Saying nothing he forced himself to sit, bearing with the pain in his abdomen and back, causing the antler to roll onto his lap. Turning his head to spit out some blood and some broken teeth, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his glasses which, remarkably, didn't break during the fight. Slipping them on with ease, Bermudo would then struggle as he made himself stand. As he managed to keep from moving the wrong way in order to prevent any aching, he turned his head and watched as the greasy announcer from before scramble into the ring to announce Buck's new, meaningless title. Bermudo never really cared about the title in the first place. Rather, he just wanted the actual prizes.

Which was why his eyes narrowed as the greasy ape granted Buck the supposed Devil Fruit prize before informing him he'll get his money soon after. The sight of the grass-muncher holding the fruit invoked his ire. Not that he held anything personal against the deer, he could've cared less about him. Rather, the fact that in the end, he's still stuck on Jaya and is still borderline poor. This was his one chance of escaping this god forsaken fate but he squandered it. He wasn't just going to let this slip through his fingers though, that's for damn sure. So, in silence, Bermudo eventually managed to regain his ability to stand and made his way to the opposite side of the ring and hopped out before beginning to walk down the hallway from whence he came.

"I'll have my chance soon."

Legosi took another bite out of this fruit that was supposedly rumored to give the one that devours it powers of a devil. Still nothing. There was nothing that felt like changed about him, no alternations to his appearance, to how he feels, or anything else of the sort. His arm still hurts like hell too, meaning that the whole idea of Devil Fruits really is just a myth. It was either that or he just got scammed, and both provide an equal amount of bitterness to be left behind as a taste, and all of his negative feelings can be locked on to Goh himself, the fat slimeball must've figured that something like this would actually encourage them all to fight harder and to an extent create a bloodier, more brutal match. The asshole was right too, which left him feeling even more sour about the situation at hand.

The injured Mink would see someone approaching him, and almost instinctively would toss the half-eaten fruit to the side. It tasted like a pear with food coloring, not like something that would give him any real power, so he didn't need to bother himself with eating the entirety of what it clearly a myth being used by scammers to make a profit. He had someone to speak to right now, and for him that was more important than to hide in the shadows and eat a piece of fruit. The man looked young in the face and had spiky jet black hair. It was slightly unsettling that he had a smile on his face as he approached Legosi. He didn't know whether the man approached to be friendly or to mock him, and because of that he couldn't bring himself to act as kind back at face value, instead his face merely softening to that of his trademark tired, half-open eyed facial expression.

The dude was also a little taller than Legosi as well, which slightly bothered him, being pretty much the shortest in this entire competition. As he approached the deer Mink Legosi was already looking him over, specifically noting the black sleeveless shirt that fit loosely and the black shorts with sandals. Honestly, there didn't look to be a lot of places where he would hold a weapon, nor did Legosi suspect himself to be important enough to be murdered, but who knows? There's always someone eager to kill a prize winner just so they can steal the prize, he wouldn't be surprised if this person was one of them.

But then the human opened his mouth, congratulating him on the fight that just happened and commenting on his strength, even going as far as holding his right fist out in order to have it be bumped. Legosi immediately went and raised his own right fist, bumping his against the stranger's. Before he had the opportunity to respond with asking for the stranger's name the man introduced himself as Taiyo Nensho, still calling the deer by his stage name. "The name's Legosi Lockheart." He would respond, looking back towards the ring, where it seemed Bermudo was able to get up and walk away, with Legosi getting a lovely view of a portion of the lion's back just as he disappeared from sight, practically making him smirk smugly. Victory just got way sweeter than before.

Bringing himself to look back as Taiyo Legosi would motion with his head for Taiyo to follow as he went to walk over to his fallen clothing. "The fight wasn't all that great. That devil fruit tasted like a pear and didn't seem to do anything. It was honestly a waste, at least the money should be enough for a ship, though." He sighed heavily as he picked up his shirt and jacket, where he tore the left sleeve off of both and wrapped both sleeves over his injured forearm in the attempt to stop the bleeding. "That cat pisses me off, maiming me like that." Putting the shirt and coat on afterwards while glaring off into space, Legosi could still play back the events of the fight in his head, and could feel every blow as well. He wished he was sadistic in that moment so he could get some payback.

"But enough about stuff that annoys me.."
His face softened once more as he turned to face Taiyo, looking at at the taller male. "Nice to meet you, Taiyo, how can I help you?"

20Rules of Nature (Voyage) - Page 2 Empty Re: Rules of Nature (Voyage) Thu Aug 09, 2018 6:57 pm

Taiyo

Taiyo
Taiyo's greeting was responded to with the same level of charisma and acceptance that he'd set out to show, the deer man reciprocating his advances by bumping his extended fist, and telling him his name.

"The name's Legosi Lockheart."

"Legosi huh? I think i'll call you Lego! If you don't mind that is."

Taiyo watched as Legosi motioned for him to follow in his direction, complying with the silent request and walking along with him.

The fight wasn't all that great. That devil fruit tasted like a pear and didn't seem to do anything. It was honestly a waste, at least the money should be enough for a ship, though."

What? That couldn't have been the case. Why was that the case? Devil fruits were no myth, Taiyo knew them and the power they could provide a person well. The one person he'd known to possess one was a formidable fighter. He'd even taught Taiyo how to fight himself. The Tsuyoi-ken. The strong fist fighting style that Taiyo used came from this devil fruit user. He knew they were real, they had to be. So what was the reason behind the deer's complaints? He said the fruit tasted like a regular pear. Had the fat man rewarded his fighting efforts with a fake fruit? Taiyo grimaced at the news, slightly disheartened by the fact that there was a chance the deer wasn't going to show out in the devil fruit department, which would make him less of an asset to him. He decided to calm himself, and show some more compassion towards the situation. He didn't want to view Legosi as nothing more than a tool to further his own aspirations, he was a living man after all. He was just incredibly eager to get his dreams into motion, and wanted as much power and resources to be successful with them. He'd noticed that Legosi had mentioned something about using the money for a ship.

'A ship huh.... he has plans to travel the sea after all...'

Taiyo would watch as Lego picked up the clothing he'd thrown off earlier, tearing off the left sleeve of his shirt and jacket, and wrapping them around the cut wound the lion had placed around his forearm. Smart.

"That cat pisses me off, maiming me like that."

Taiyo didn't blame him in the slightest. He'd be pissed off with the lion man as well. Lego would put on his shirt and his coat, and then soften his facial expression after turning his attentions to Taiyo.

"But enough about stuff that annoys me.... Nice to meet you, Taiyo, how can I help you?"

Taiyo smiled at Lego once again, happy with the way things were going. He thought the prospects of Lego actually being interested in joining him were increasing the more the conversation went on, and he fully intended to convince the deer man to join his side.

"I came here tonight with intentions to watch this fight go down. But not for the same reasons as everyone else. I see no relevance in watching people cause bodily harm to one another for no reason. that doesn't interest me. I came here to gauge the abilities of those who fought with intentions to recruit them. In case they were interested, that is."

He took a few moments of silence to let the first thought he had in his head to resonate with Legosi. he had to approach it in a way that would make him look like more than just one of the mindless idiots searching for violence in the crowd. He had to let it be known that he intended to do something more.

"I am going to be a pirate. I have no interest of using piracy to make the seas more dangerous for those seeking adventure. I am looking for anarchy. This system is broken. The marines who preach absolute justice contradict their ideologies with acts of sheer brutality, and the revolutionaries who oppose them care little about how their actions affect the innocents caught in the crossfire. I intend to break down both of these institutions. I am going to challenge society's current definition of justice, by delivering it under the guise of society's worst criminals. I am going to make judicial equality through piracy."

he took several more instances to let his plans and his ideologies be known. If he truly wanted to partake in a crew relationship with Legosi, he had to be aware of what the crew would stand for.

"To make this happen, I will need help. Every legendary pirate has a crew! So i came here looking for one. Would you be interested in helping me turn this idea into a reality?"

Bermudo

Bermudo
The hallway was just as dirty and lonely as the first time he walked through it, perhaps even a bit dirtier now that the crowd was dissipating and a few nameless souls passed through here in hopes of leaving the warehouse quicker. Happy that no one decided to stay behind longer than they should have Bermudo walked to where the utility closet he stayed in was in silence, with the only sound being the noise of his black loafers meeting the dusty floor. Eventually he came to the old door and, turning the rusty doorknob, quickly opened it. Quickly scanning the closet he would feel a quick, momentary relief spread through him as he saw that his belongings weren't tampered with. Wordlessly he took his white dress shirt and put it on, making sure to not miss any of the button holes before sliding on his old, faded suit jacket. With that done, there was only one thing left.

Slowly the lion reached for his revolver, Bandito, before holding it in an appraising way. He eyed the old weapon, gazing upon the intricate designs that he has constantly looked at for years now, noting that none of it was damaged or heavily discolored. Despite its age, Bermudo managed to keep the old thing in decent condition. Opening up the cylinder to make sure it was still loaded, Bermudo would let out audible exhale before closing it back and hiding it in his right jacket pocket, looking as if he simply had his hand in it.

With that Bermudo straightened his posture and walked out of the closet, not bothering to close the door as he headed down the hallway to where the arena was. Reaching its entryway, he was somewhat pleased that the majority of the crowd had already left, having gotten their fill of blood for the night, while the rest were stragglers who stayed and talked with friends over nothing particularly important. Looking towards the arena he first noticed that Razorblade was already gone while two men were just beginning to lift up Bror, either to get him medical attention or just to throw him out. Then he saw the single horned cervine, his shoulders and head visible through the spaces created by the metal rods that acted as arena ropes. His expression null and his voice silent, Bermudo made his way to Buck, walking around the arena in-order to reach him and, apparently, some hairless ape he was talking to.

Standing perhaps six or seven feet away from the two, Bermudo would pull out his revolver and point it at them, his finger already on the trigger as he spoke in a firm yet, monotone voice.

"Alright Buck, give me your prize, and I might just not have to shoot you."He said as he stood his ground, his eyes not leaving either of them.

Legosi considered what Taiyo had just said. To come to an underground fighting ring to recruit fighters? Just the thought of doing such a thing nearly made him laugh. Instead of going to an inn or along the docks for begging lone pirates or crews cast aside this human went straight for the rings in the hopes that the rowdy fighters would join up with him. What if there were four people exactly like Bermudo in that ring this night? What about if no one wished to join? What would his black-haired associated do then? Legosi is relatively surprised that this person immediately would come up to the winner and do such a thing, to go for a higher risk of rejection just to gain slightly stronger crew members. He was half tempted to actually turn Taiyo down, not because he enjoyed doing so nor because their interests didn't align. They certainly did, but because he was curious as to how the man would take it, and what he's willing to do in order to gain a crew.

Hell, the fact that Taiyo then mentioned the fact that he's going to become a pirate made it all the more favorable. To become the same of those people he had silently watched all that time ago and to begin grasping at the straws of power and freedom. It was an added topping that this person as well could care less about actually actually making things more chaotic, and instead just wished to fulfill his own ideals. It was an interesting thought though, the fact that he hated both the Revolutionaries and the Marines because both were terrible with their pre-conceived notions of justice and freedom. Instead it almost sounded like he wanted to make a pirate empire of sorts, where everyone would be equal. Such an idea of anarchy in Legosi's opinion isn't something that can be sustained, but such a goal can help him advance without having to stomp on a mountain of bodies to do so, and that was something extremely appealing for him. An easier way to become the top of the food chain.

The plea for help that Taiyo gave him was something that would fall on deaf ears. Legosi is the type to not be swayed by someone asking for help, but the idea of being a member of a legendary crew sounded good enough. Really, whatever could get him off of this rock was good enough. "Alright Taiyo, I'll-"

"Alright Buck, give me your prize, and I might just not have to shoot you."

Legosi would turn around to see who is threatening him right now, and what a surprise, it's the same person that had just recently insured that his left arm will retain permanent scars, Bermudo. It seemed that the lion really wanted the prize, if he's willing to stoop low enough to murder in order to attain it. Honestly, with his clothes back on, the lion looked less like an animal than before despite his still acting every bit like the brutal fool that he was before. Legosi was already gauging the distance between them, considering his options as he measured around two meters of space between them. If he could just dodge the first bullet he may have a chance, but he didn't like the risk of getting shot, especially more than once. Scratch that, he was a retard for thinking some pseudo-heroic like that would work.

Goh wasn't out with the money yet and he already ate the fruit, so there is no actual prize. The deer's eyes narrowed while he swallowed. He didn't like the idea of dying at all, but he had nothing to give, and he could tell from the monotone voice and the look that Bermudo had on his face that that wouldn't be enough of a response to give. "I've faced far scarier things than a gun pointed at me before I was even a teen, Bermudo. I already knew this was gonna happen the first second I saw you, and I hid the money. What're you gonna do about it? Shoot everyone until someone stumbles on it? You were gone for a while there, more than long enough for me to be all over this warehouse. Shoot me and go waste your time, already."

He didn't particularly know if his calling Bermudo's bluff with that would work or not, but all he could do was hope. He didn't dare move or close his eyes or do anything that could come off as him actually lying. He had to look as serious as possible. The stress from the situation was already making his arm throb all the more, the wounds almost trying to make him slip up. "You've seen how fast I can be, you already know I hid it."

"Hid what, your balls?" A guttural voice fired out like a cannon, prompting Legosi to look towards whoever just spoke, only to see it was none other than the fat man himself, Goh, and in his right hand was a plastic bag with a couple of wads of beli. He would waddle up to the three, practically standing in the middle of Legosi, Taiyo, and Bermudo, holding out the bag to Legosi. "Hold your killin' until you're out on the streets, I don't feel like wiping up anymore blood stains than I have to." His command was followed by the appearance of two others, whom of which appeared to be guards in citizen attire, both holding rifles pointed directly at them, one at Legosi and Taiyo, the other a distance of 10 meters behind Bermudo, aiming at the lion.

"Here's the prize, winner. I had to take a cut since you're a Mink and all, but here ya go." With that, Goh tossed the bag towards Legosi, whom of which grabbed it with his right hand, immediately opening it and seeing that that "cut" actually left the deer with only a few thousand beli to his name, not even hitting the double digits. "What the hell, Goh, I didn't even get paid this little regularly!" His nostrils flared with anger as he looked at the fat man, whom of which was shrugging his shoulders, already waddling off. "Also had to take some out for Bror's thumb. Maybe you stupid animals should think about what you're doing to others better. Get the trash out of my ring, boys."

With the sounds of the guards readying their guns, it was time to go. Legosi, left speechless, would just chuck the bag at Bermudo, already storming out of the nearest exit possible, where he would wait just outside, breathing heavily.

Taiyo

Taiyo
"Alright Taiyo, I'll-

"Alright Buck, give me your prize, and I might just not have to shoot you."

As Taiyo anticipated Legosi accepting his invite to his pirate crew, both of the two were interrupted by an unexpected change of events. Legosi turned around, and Taiyo looked past him to see Bermudo. He was now fully clothed, a gun aimed in the direction of the two. His focus was on the deer man. He'd wanted the prize money, that he wasn't able to win on his own. He wasn't asking for it either. He was fully planning on taking it, and didn't seem to mind to have to kill in order to do so. Taiyo looked at him sternly, clenching his fists towards him. He despised acts of injustice such as this, and didn't allow himself to forget the brutal display of inhumanity the lion had shown in the arena. He'd wanted to strike him, right then and there. Despite that, Taiyo knew that there didn't seem to be any prizes to be given. The announcer hadn't yet returned to Legosi to provide him with the cash money, and Legosi had already eaten the fruit. How would Bermudo react to this information?

"I've faced far scarier things than a gun pointed at me before I was even a teen, Bermudo. I already knew this was gonna happen the first second I saw you, and I hid the money. What're you gonna do about it? Shoot everyone until someone stumbles on it? You were gone for a while there, more than long enough for me to be all over this warehouse. Shoot me and go waste your time, already."

Taiyo took note of the quick thinking that Legosi had showcased. While it was dangerous to play as if he didn't care if he was shot, he had lied about hiding the prize money before it was provided to him. That was incentive to keep him breathing, and if Bermudo was smart, would prevent him from pulling that trigger.

["You've seen how fast I can be, you already know I hid it."

Taiyo watched closely on Bermudo as he listened to Legosi's continued bluffs to stall him. He was looking for an opening, a place where he could attack and get that gun out of his hands. Taiyo wasn't going to let the lion potentially rid him of his newfound crew member. He was going to do his best to protect the deer.

["Hid what, your balls?"

Their attentions turned from the situation at hand, towards the retorts of the short, fat announcer, who'd brought himself back into the area. In his right hand had been a plastic bag filled with few wads of beli, not nearly the 25 million award that had already been promised to the winner. He came to stand in midst of the situation, and then extended the plastic bag out towards Legosi.

["Hold your killin' until you're out on the streets, I don't feel like wiping up anymore blood stains than I have to."

After he spoke, two of what appeared to be his lackeys appeared behind him, holding rifles and aiming them towards the three from a 10 meter distance behind the lion.

"Here's the prize, winner. I had to take a cut since you're a Mink and all, but here ya go."

"What the hell? You can't do that you fat bastard!"

Taiyo quickly protested this, quickly angered by the fat man's lack of consideration for the struggle that Legosi had to go through to win that money. He'd been placed in an arena with other blood thirsty fighters, one of which was rather sadistic in his way of fighting, and came out with several battle scars. It was not easy, and it was damn sure worth the 25 million beli he'd been promised. Who was the announcer to take away the prize that Legosi had earned entirely on his own merit?

"What the hell, Goh, I didn't even get paid this little regularly!"

Legosi was audibly and visually upset by this unfair pay cut, and decided to protest it rather than take it silently. The fat man cared little about his disliking of the pay cut, and shrugged and began walking away.

"Also had to take some out for Bror's thumb. Maybe you stupid animals should think about what you're doing to others better. Get the trash out of my ring, boys."

After his command, the guards readied their guns for fire. Taiyo knew that meant they were no longer welcome. He watched as Legosi chucked the bag with his earnings toward Bermudo, storming out towards the exit of the warehouse. Taiyo followed after, angry about the ordeal he'd just witnessed. He was angry with Bermudo for pulling a gun out on them, but of most he was angry at the announcer, the one that Legosi referred to as Goh. He put these people's health and lives for danger to make money off of the poor who flocked to the warehouse to watch, all with the prospect of winning great rewards, only to allow them to damn near murder one another, and decided to cut the earnings of the winner after they'd put up their fight. That was not fair, nor was it just. His lack of empathy and concern for the way his actions affected others disgusted Taiyo, and he wanted vengeance for Legosi. After exiting the warehouse, he would walk a few feet further than Legosi, and then turn around so he would face him, as well as the direction of the exit that Bermudo would soon follow out of. After waiting a few moments, he decided to speak what had been on his mind.

"That man, Goh was his name? He cannot treat you like that. You earned your money by winning that competition. He cannot decide to cut you short of what you earned rightfully. He doesn't deserve to make profit off of you, and then disrespect and undermine you because of your race. You deserve to have what was taken from you...."

Taiyo took a second to let his frustrations to be heard, and then got an idea in his head. This was a near perfect way for justice to be served, and for all three of them to further their own motives. Legosi wanted the rewards that were promised to him, Bermudo wanted money for whatever reasons he had, and Taiyo wanted a pirate crew. Under most circumstances, taking the belongings of others would not be something he would actively seek doing, but this was merely him getting Legosi the items that were rightfully his. He knew what they were going to do. They were going to steal the money back from him.

"I have an idea. Why don't we all find a way to get what we need? The two of you need beli, and Lego earned his. This Goh guy owes you whats yours. Why don't we just take it from him? I know the two of you are probably in no condition to go in there and fight, but what Lego, do you know his schedule? If you know the right time to strike, all three of us can coordinate a plan to serve him justice."

He was hesitant to include Bermudo, but knew that the more numbers they had, the more swiftly things would go. The only thing to wait for now, was their reaction.

Bermudo

Pirate
Pirate

Bermudo
Bermudo eyes widened for a moment upon hearing Buck's little tale about what he did with the prize money. That couldn't be! The walk from the arena to get his clothes and back only took a few minutes. He couldn't have done it that fast and reclothed himself as well......could he? He definitely showed that he does have some speed during the battle. Not to mention, the tournament was for those who were known and thought to be strong enough to participate. Bermudo was the only one out of the four to have not actually participate in any other tournament before hand. Buck must've fought in here before a few times, perhaps enough that he knew some of the layout of the warehouse.

Though... what if that's not the case. Bermudo knew better than to trust anyone here. Hell, everyone ranging from pick-pocketing beggars to covetous pirate captains attended this night's event. The dumb grass-licker could just as well be lying and trying to get Bermudo to fuck off. And who the hell is the hairless monkey next to him? He doesn't look that much different from the other rabble, what with his loose clothing and build. He looked like he could be part of a crew. Perhaps they were doing an exchange? But why here and not some place more private?

Though his expression remained focused, more and more questions plagued him. This has to be some kind of trick, right? It just had to be. This damn bush-muncher was lying! He had to be. What more could be expected from a herbivore?

With a slight frown forming Bermudo would open his mouth, only to be cut off by the bellowing voice of the announcer. The fat, greasy ball of sweat waddled between all of them, seemingly unaffected by the fact that a gun was pointed at him. Not that Bermudo would fire, as guard took with a rifle appeared before him and took aim at the two in-front of him, while he doubted that the announcer would only bring one guard with him. The rest most likely in vantage points around the arena. From there, he handed Buck his prize money... all of a few thousand belli.

Bermudo eyes widened and he simply stared at the bag. Even as the the deer and ape exchanged words he simply stared at what couldn't have been more than perhaps five or six thousand belli. "Even...even if I won..." he thought, almost trembling as the realization set in, "..I would've got cheated." Though the others decided to go ahead and leave, with Buck throwing the bag in angry to Bermudo, he didn't move at first. Even as some guards came to make him get moving, he just slowly retrieved the bag and stared at it as he walked. "Even if I won I would still be in this shit hole."

He would say nothing as the cool night air blew against his fur, not even looking up as the young ape began speaking about the injustice the announcer, apparently named Goh, had committed. That is, until he began talking about robbing Goh. To this Bermudo slowly raised his head and looked at him, contemplating his words. There was still a chance he could get something out of this. Even if it meant sharing it with these two. "He.... can't have many guards. None that could actually do much without a gun, at least."

Legosi gripped his left bicep with his right hand, his fingers digging into the tan fur, although not breaking the skin at all. He stared onwards, not looking at anything in particular and allowing himself to zone out. He hardly even noticed Taiyo following on behind him nor Bermudo's having the audacity to come out as well. All he acknowledged in the moment was his own anger and humiliation at what had just happened. He was maimed for such a small sum, he had done things that just thinking about made him wish to take a warm bath and try to scrub his skin off, because it was corrupted by that man, all for just a few thousand, not even enough to get a small boat. '3, where are you?' Despite his bitter feelings, he couldn't help but wonder where his precious friend was, especially in a situation like this.

Taiyo covered the endless space Legosi was staring into with his body, invading his train of thought by bothering to talk about what happened. His mentioning how Goh can't treat him like that didn't offer any sort of comfort to the deer. It was a well-known fact that he could, especially since it is his competition on an island with virtually no authority figure holding everyone in line. If Goh couldn't treat Legosi like this, then maybe Taiyo should go and inform practically every other Mink on the island about this, because in Legosi's own opinion the only people that have it worse than those that look like animals are the ones with three eyes.

As Taiyo kept speaking Legosi began to shut the man's opinions out of his mind, making him sound almost as if they're underwater, with the only means of his making out what Taiyo was saying be through reading his lips. He didn't really care to hear more bullshit about the fact that he shouldn't have to face this sort of discrimination. He already knew all of that crap, which is exactly why he was trying to get off this shithole in the first place. How else can he attain the strength needed to make such a change? The part which made him the most bitter was the simple fact that he knew that, after everything is said and done, he will still be back here in a week or so, ready to fight yet another person for the crowd's entertainment, to further mess up his own body just to make a bunch of drunken idiots cheer on the next dog fight.

But then Taiyo suggested the unthinkable. "Why don't we just take it from him?" He asked about Goh's schedule and and mentioned that with that they can coordinate a plan to serve him justice. Then the bastard lion also spoke up, causing Legosi to fully come back down to earth and listen to him mention how Goh couldn't have many guards that can actually do much without a gun. 'Are these two literally planning to rob Goh? Are they asking you to help make it happen? You're trash, not even able to get a small sum for winning. You'll just fuck this up to like you do everything else.' Legosi considered his own thoughts on the matter. His mind made a good point, he can't do this, how could he? It wasn't like he could just rob his boss, especially because if it didn't work he wouldn't have any means of earning cash.

Then again, he wanted revenge. He felt like a piece of cheap meat that just got tossed away too early, as though he had wasted his time on the wrong man and now he is paying for it through a rejection of his goals. He could care less about actually wanting to steal the money back or anything else of the sort. It wasn't the fruit being fake or the lack of money that hurt the most anyways, it was the fact that he had to acknowledge that he wasn't the one in control that made him the most pissed, and that sort of sin that Goh committed through taking every opportunity to dominate him was one that couldn't be forgiven.

"I do know about his details. You can't work here for a while and not know about them. I'm going to go and recover for a few days. Meet me at the abandoned warehouse down in the docks in around three days. You'll know which one because the windows aren't busted yet. We'll discuss everything there."

With that, Legosi would begin to walk off, his hands curled into fists. He was going to get his revenge for this humiliation, even if it's the last thing he does.

[End Voyage]
