Cassius Sinclair The Kraken Cassius had stumbled across Teddy's mostly by accident, wandering the streets of Baltigo to better familiarize himself with the island. Outside it was hot, hotter than it had been since he first arrived. His initial instinct was to immediately dive into the sea and drift off to sleep until the night, but the last time people had observed him jumping into the water by the docks they had balked and scowled, just another reason for them to hate him he supposed. Just another way to highlight how different he was from the vast majority. Teddy's however seemed to offer a wonderful respite from the outside world, not only the heat, but from the people on the streets as well. Bars were comfortable for Cassius, homey and easy to blend in as most patrons lost themselves in their drink rather than bothering the ugly fishman who stank of the sea. As he opened the door, he noticed an older man hobbling rapidly towards him, his hand outstretched for the open door. Cassius obliged, holding it for the older man before turning and walking towards the bar, the old man following behind him. He noticed a strange, black furred humanoid sitting beside another, more human looking person. They, like all the others in the bar seemed content in simply enjoying their drink unbothered; that is until the old man several paces behind Cassius piped up. Cassius was startled by the sudden, loud exclamation from the gentleman, but brushed it aside as yelling and excitement often occurred within the confines of such an establishment. Instead he took a seat one stool to the left of the more human looking one, a single empty spot separating them. As Cassius pulled out his pipe, held it up to his beard tendrils to hold and began to light it, he eavesdropped on the conversation behind him. Though it wasn't really eavesdropping per say, in fact he'd have to actively not pay attention to not hear what the old man was saying. Between the hobbling geezer and the strange black creature who no one else seemed to have a problem with, Cassius knew he was in for an interesting day. Puffing diligently on his pipe he stared ahead as if admiring the rows of whiskey and rum the bar offered, but all the while listening intently to what the old man had to say. Ten thousand says he's a silly ole drunk. Cassius thought to himself, wagering a little mental bet while he listened. WORDS: ### TAGS: --- NOTES: --- |

Cassius Sinclair The Kraken Cassius couldn't help but stare at the two men sitting at the bar even as the old man rambled on about some sort of big discovery and his trek all across Baltigo. He knew these two...but from where? Cassius stroked his tentacle beard in thought, musing over his memories of the last few weeks on the island when finally it struck him. Of course, the bat mink and the long leg with the busted ankle. He had met them on the pier some time ago. It hadn't been terribly noteworthy and he had interacted with so many strange people over the last few weeks that he didn't exactly feel bad he had forgotten them. Cassius smiled, these poor two bastards were getting their eat talked off by some old drunk. Cassius almost felt sorry for them, but went back to his drink and his thoughts only to hear the man blurt out, "Seastone!" Cassius perked up as the man went on about its properties and mystical abilities to stop the use of devil fruit powers. He himself hadn't run into any devil fruit users quite yet, though he had a suspicion about the long leg boy and the little smoke trick he had pulled earlier with Cassius's pipe, but he had heard plenty of stories about the new strange fruits popping up all across the sea. They seemed unnatural and the name alone was enough to deter him. People were easily corruptible as is, humanity certainly didn't need this new tool under their belts. Deciding to seize the moment, Cassius stepped forward, Oi, I thought I recognized you two. How's the ankle lad? Cassius asked, looking at Noctis before extending a hand towards the old drunkard, Cassius Sinclair, how'd ya do? I couldn't help but over hear ya from down by the bar. Cassius said before dropping his voice to a hushed tone so only the four of them could hear, It might be wise to lower your voice a bit if ye know what's good for ya. He picked his head up and scanned the room carefully, catching eyes with the musician in the corner. Cassius gave him a nod of acknowledgement before turning back to the other three gathered around him. WORDS: 374 NOTES: ### DORIKI: ### GEAR: ### SKILLS: ### |

Cassius Sinclair The Kraken Cassius scowled as the musician stopped his music and approached the group, though he shouldn't have been surprised. If Tell-Tale Tom had been loud enough to attract his attention, surely there were others in the bar who had been listening to the man's ramblings. However, when Miles bought them a round on the house, Cassius relented, maybe having the musician around wasn't all bad after all. The bat mink introduced himself and Cassius mentally realized they had never exchanged names on that day. He nodded and said, Nice to put a name to the face. Cassius had never heard of Jordsand, though he had never heard of half the islands in the world considering how new he was to the surface. These people around him were complete strangers and for all he knew this could very well be a trap. On the other hand, there was no reason to trap Cassius. He had very little money, hadn't made any real enemies quite yet other than stepping on a few Marine toes and bumping into a few lowlifes around Baltigo. Not to mention he was getting a little sick of Baltigo, granted there was still plenty of work to be done before he could put his plan into action, but he needed a little vacation from the city of sin. What better vacation than hunting down some mystical rocks? Oi, count me in. Cassius said with a nod towards Tom as his drink arrived. He took a long swig from the swill the barman was passing off as rum for the night. I figure one of three things happens: A. We all die gruesomely. B. We get handsomely rich or C. Nothing because this little island and its magical rocks doesn't exist and this old man is drunk off his rocker. Still, at least one of those sounds good so I'm most certainly in. Cassius placed the glass of rum on the bar top and stood from the seat he had taken next to Noctis. Don't worry about finding me when it comes time to leave, I'm far better at finding you. Have a good night gents. Cassius said with a wave over his shoulder as he stepped through the front doors of the bar. He had some matters to attend to and things to finish up before leaving the island of Baltigo regardless of how long it may be. [/exit] WORDS: 400 NOTES: ### DORIKI: ### GEAR: ### SKILLS: ### |
