@devroux

A place were retired pirates lived was the best place for criminals to be. If they were doing dirty jobs around here, it only meant that there were no marines here to help out. This was a beautiful place for people like Yuurei to be. They didn’t have to worry about the marines showing up, which was perfect, and he knew that the only thing he had to worry about were the pirates on this island. He always watched his back, but gaining new clients who wanted him to steal things for him was the best thing he could imagine. Still, this time he was doing something for himself. It took a while, but it was something he knew he could find, if he didn’t give up and stop looking. His dad had told him about a sword named Benihime once, and about how this was one of the strongest katana ever created. That sword that his father was talking about was on this island, and he couldn’t believe it.

The timing of finding out about this sword couldn’t have been more perfect. Yuurei had met two people that wanted him to join them on their adventures. There were more people from what he was told, but he only knew Mashyuu and Harley. They were going to an island which close to zero people have ever visited. Yuurei couldn’t wait to head there, and it was because there was also tales that he had heard about with a sword being there. Yuurei knew that by obtaining this sword he would be set with this island, and onward to the next island. He wouldn’t have any reason to be here anymore, and he was sure that his Captain wanted to leave as soon as he could. Yuurei remembered that there was a slave owner that Mashyuu wanted to take out.

Yuurei was walking through the streets of Mock Town though, the day being as beautiful as ever. The season didn’t change, and he honestly would miss that part of this island. Still, today was the day that what he found would come to fruit. There was a man named Thomas Jones on this island. This man was said to be the wealthiest man of all of Jaya Island, but what made Yuurei noticed Thomas more was that he was a seller of sword. When he heard that he kept important tabs on this man and every time he had a client he spoke to them about him. It seemed like he did have a sword that he use to use in his pirate days and the sword name was of course Benihime. When confirming this was true, he had to wait for the best time to steal the sword. He wasn’t the type person who would do things fairly and ask for the sword. It was also a thrill for him and he figured if he could steal the man’s sword, then it would be fair that it became his.

He was moving towards a certain area, and it was clear as day that it was a huge house, and this house also belong to Thomas. Yuurei had heard about the annual Gallery that this man had offered in his house. He would display all of his swords, so people could go and see. They were of course for sell, but the only thing that was in display that wouldn’t be of sell was Benihime. That was a disappointment, which also meant that nobody would be able to obtain that sword unless they killed Thomas, or steal it. Yuurei was planning on doing the latter, and hopefully things would go well. Yuurei had made his way towards the mansion and when he got there he could see two guards in the front of the doors. He had waved at both of them, and they just stood there looking at him. He figured he had to tell them why he was here in the first place.

”Hello there I’m here for the Gallery that Mr. Jones is showing today. I heard anybody is allow to come right?” he asked and looked at the two. He hoped that his information wasn’t wrong as the two guards looked at each other. They didn’t exchange any words with each other, and they were taking long to say, or do anything. He just felt weird, and he scratched the back of his head waiting for the two of them. ”Should I just come back later, or should I just walk right in?” he asked them chuckling at the idea of them saying yes to the latter. The guards, however, didn’t say anything, but instead open the door for Yuurei. He had nodded as he walked in the house without a moment hesitation. When he got in there he could see how big and huge this place really was.

The house’s first floor was about twenty feet high and there were pillars that held the ceiling from falling down. The pain was white all over, and this part of the house was where the gallery was located at. He only knew this because he could see the amount of swords that were on display right off the entrance. Yuurei’s eyes widen and his face could only soon show a huge smile. He was a fanboy when it came to swords, and he rushed over to the first one that was in display. It was nicely displayed and he could see from the blade that was it was amazingly taken care of. He looked over it as he was moving around one and just enjoying the site. The sparkles on his eyes could be seen, but no words was said from him. Yuurei soon seen the price that was on the sword, and jaw dropped because that was actually expensive.

He coughed when he seen this and remembered why he was really here. Yuurei looked around to see that there were people around here and were looking at the various swords that were here. He figured he wouldn’t be here alone, which was good. He could also see that there were also many windows throughout the area he was in. There were also various doors around the house, but he wasn’t sure where they led to. Yuurei knew he couldn’t just open them either, so he knew that using them would be out of the plan, unless he would use them and chance his success. Still, that was all that he could see from here, and he decided to move around for now until he could come up with a plan to do what he truly wanted to do.

His mind had now gone to the people that were around the area. He could hear chatter coming from all over the place, which he found surprising because he didn’t hear it before. His mind had been focused the whole time, but it was nice to see that there were people here who were admiring the swords that Thomas had collected. It wasn’t just that, but it seemed like there were a lot of people who wanted to buy swords from this man. Yuurei had a job to do for himself here, but he was so excited to see all the katanas that were presented today. It was hard for him to keep himself contain, but he did his best. You could at most see the excitement coming from his facial expressions. The sparkles that came from his eyes looked so innocent, and his movements had moved over to another katana. He looked at the detail of this one and could see that it was carefully crafted, and was beautifully made.

When he got his feel for this katana, his eyes focused now as he was going to have to look around more. He could see that this katana’s container was carefully protected, and could see that things wouldn’t be so easy for him to take. Yuurei figured that Benihime’s container would probably have the seal of them of them all unless this man was tempting someone to try and take his precious weapon. The thief could also see the stairs that led upstairs, but figured that he would to leave that place untouched. His plan was to steal the sword at night, so by entering this place at night he would hope Thomas would be sleeping upstairs, or outside somewhere. Still, the second floor of this place was an unknown to him, and it would continue to stay that way. Yuurei didn’t want to chance getting caught upstairs. He didn’t look like the type of person who would get lose by accident, which sucked.

Yuurei continued to look at the katanas that were on displayed though, and honestly they were beautiful. He could see how things were placed in the displayed, and from what he could tell is that if anybody had forcefully tried to take the sword, then an alarm would happen, and possibly alert Thomas’s hired killers to show up. That would be bad, and he knew that much. He noticed that someone had purchased a blade, and he eyed someone who approached the case of the blade. Yuurei noticed that he had slouched a bit and his hand moved around a few times. ”Could there have been a code to be used?” he thought to himself as the case had started to open up, and soon dispersed under the table. Yuurei was surprised to see this, and he was actually excited because this would make stealing Benihime more fun.

The thief continued to look around the area as he could see a few more swords that were being sold. This time he continued to pay more attention to the code, and hopefully get the sequence of numbers sooner or later. When a sword wasn’t being sold, however, he continued to look around, but there was no sign of Benihime. It was kind of bothering because he figured it was the main attraction. Yuurei had come for that katana specifically, but where was it. Yuurei had waved his hand around as he was trying to get someone’s attention. He didn’t mind whose attention it was, but he just wanted them to take him to the location of the legendary katana. Yuurei wanted to admire, the weapon and think about the possible things he could with such a weapon.

Ever since Yuurei had made his way into the gallery there had been a steady stream of people coming and going, which more coming than those that were going. The low murmur of chatter had steadily grown into a dull rumble as patrons of all kinds made idle conversation as they perused the artifacts that were on display. The gallery was something intended for swords, and such, it brought in attendees that were rich and poor, pirates and nobles, or other sorts. Under the roof of Thomas Jones, all were created equal under their shares interest in swords, be it for use as a weapon or use as a trophy.

A hush rolled over the crowd, so drastic in comparison that it was noticeable to Yuurei, even if he were too busy fawning over the weapons that lined the walls around him. The crowd parted and what came through was the benefactor himself, Thomas Jones. He was a solidly built man, combining the rough features of a pirates with the gentle features of a noble - convincing, as he was now both. Mr. Jones had lived his life as a pirate, building up his wealth through combat and treachery, but had slowly gotten to the point of being able to do events such as this, that were legally in the clear and just as profitable as if they weren't. He was respected now, and the way he carried himself demanded it.

As the man strolled through the crowd to the other end of the room, he passed Yuurei. Behind him, in clear visibility for the theif to see, was Benihime. The blade was flawless, even in comparison to the countless weapons that were set up all over the room, and was housed in a glass case that was brilliantly lit and shined to perfection. However, as the case was pulled through Yuurei's line of sight, the altering point of view helped him take note of the extra thickness of the glass, clearly showing that it was under quite a bit more protection than the other weapons, if it was even a glass case at all.

Yuurei was waving his hand to get someone’s attention. There was a reason for this and he was trying to admire the one sword that brought him here in the first place. The legendary Benihime was a sword that should be out there, and be used to its full potential. Instead, it was in the home of Thomas Jones as a retired blade waiting for its new master. He figured that Benihime would be better on his side, and honestly he was hoping he would be able to better himself with such a masterful blade. He wanted to show his father this sword over everything, but at first he wanted to have his adventures before returning home for a while. Still, while his hands were moving in the air, Yuurei did noticed something different from what was going on before. The chattering had slowly died down, and he honestly placed his hand to his side, so he didn’t look like he was out of place.

He noticed that everybody was moving to the side, or at least those who were in the way. He did noticed the man of the hour, the person who made this possible, Thomas Jones. Yuurei had known how he looked, and it was because he had scouted the man himself before actually entering this house. He had done a lot for himself as a man who had retired as a pirate. It was interesting to see him walking about with outmost confidence. He allowed the man to walk by him, and soon enough his body froze, but he head had followed through. It was as if he had gone into a trance, but in reality he was just surprised to what his eyes made contact to. He could see Benihime as it was moving away from him slowly. The sword was indeed flawless, and of its own league than the rest of the swords that were around here. He could only swallow his saliva through the sheer beauty that it represented.

Still, he knew he would be able to admire it later on as he had to pay attention to the details of the glass case that was surrounding it. It was indeed much thicker than the other glass case that had been around the house. He was smart for showing this katana more attention than the rest. Yuurei wondered, if he would be able to get that glass open with the code system that they were using around the house, but he actually figured that it would be a different code than the rest of the other cases. Still, it seemed like this was the sword that a lot of people came here for. They wanted to admire its beauty as well from what he could tell, but he just watched Thomas as it seemed like he was moving the case and the main attraction to the center of the room. Yuurei watched him as he placed the case down and he soon gave a smile to everyone and raised his arms up in the air.

He figured it was time to go actually look at the sword that he had come here for, and he walked forward. When he did that everyone else had done the same thing as they were no longer talking to each other, but actually trying to see the katana more than anything. When he got to the case he could only continue to examine it more, and noticed that there was indeed a code to open up the case to take the blade out. Yuurei didn’t want to touch the container, however, as he didn’t want to grab attention from the guards that were here. Yuurei noticed a few men with suits on answering questions, but he knew that they weren’t just here for answering stuff. He continued to look around the sword though as he continued to admire the blade. He was able to figure out that the only thing that was stopping him from a clean steal, or rushed robbery was the code.

Yuurei didn’t have the kind of tools to hack such security, but that wasn’t what he was known for. He knew that either way he would succeed in stealing this katana no matter what it took. Yuurei moved over to Thomas who stood there answering any questions that people might have wanted concerning Benihime. When he got close to him, he coughed a bit as the man looked over to him and was surprised to see Yuurei, or so it seemed. ”I heard that Benihime has some sort of ability hidden within, and since you own her do you know of this said ability? Also how many people have you cut with Benihime?” he asked curiously and excited all at the same time. Yes he was going to steal the sword, but it was nice to have this answer, and he could just imagine how useful she would be. Thomas coughed a bit as well as Yuurei had gone too close to him that one of the guards started approaching the two, but Thomas stopped him.

”I don’t know of this ability. I have heard the same thing, but I have never seen my Benihime display any abilities. Sorry about that, but she is the real deal, but maybe one day she will be free,” he laughed as he knew that the sword would be his until his death. ”As for her cutting down people in my hands, I had lost count, but she cuts right through people, and I must say it is a beautiful sight,” he finished saying as Yuurei nodded. The thief didn’t see anything on his person that could lead to the code, which disappointed him, but he knew it wouldn’t be so easy. Still, now that his question was answered he stepped away from Thomas, and other people had gone to him to ask questions. Yuurei on the other hand continued to look at the sword, but at the same time looked around to see the cameras that were placed in the corners of the houses.

They moved around, but at one point he could tell that they moved to look at Benihime, which was reasonable. He kept looking at their movements every time he could, and took note on how they moved around. Still, the thing that was bothering him was the code; how would he be able to obtain that without triggering attention to himself?

Yuurei’s first idea of going to the bathroom and checking through the house had come back. He had scrapped the idea before, but it seemed like it was only logical for him to do. He was pretty sure that the code: eight, four, three, two, seven, and nine would work for Benihime. He had been looking at the men opening up glass cases for a while, and that was the sequence that they had kept using, so he figured that if he wanted he could steal the blades that were around here, but that was not his main goal. He knew these others swords would find a good home sooner or later, but he wasn’t going to be. He would if he could, but he was one man and he figured the less he carried the better his chances for success. Yuurei went over to one of the guards that were walking around the gallery. When he approached him, he coughed a bit to get the man’s attention. He didn’t want to get his hand grabbed and twisted, so he was trying to avoid that much.

The guard turned around to look at Yuurei and he could only see a smile come from the man’s face. It looked so fake from what he could tell, and he was about to laugh, but he held it in due to this being job related to what he wanted. ”How can I help you?” the guard asked Yuurei. ”I got to use the bathroom, but I don’t know where the bathroom is. Would you mind telling me where it is?” he asked the guard. He nodded as this was to be expected to those who had never been in Jones’s house. ”We have a special bathroom for guest today. If you go straight, and make a right it should be the second door to your left,” he said to him. Yuurei nodded as he was happy to hear it. Still, the only sad part about this was that the bathroom was not in the second floor. He was hoping that it would be because then it would give him time to snoop around up there.

Yuurei made his way using the man’s direction; he did noticed that there were guards looking at him making sure that he was heading where he needed to go. He could only shake his head because he figured this much, and he did what he was going to do and enter the bathroom. When he did that, he had sat down with the toilet still closed and sighed. He was able to process things better alone, and without eyes watching him. He knew if he had done this with everybody out there and possibly looking at him, then he would only draw attention to himself. ”So there a bunch of windows around the first floor. Still, only one door that is where I came from. I’m sure there is a door somewhere else in the first floor, leading outside, but I can’t go looking for it. The cameras move in a certain pattern, but they only give me a five second window to press the code, and take the sword,” he thought to himself as he sighed as he was trying to formulate a plan.

”Now if I can’t get the code then I will have to break through the glass, and take the sword. If that is the case, then I would have to move quickly as I’m sure that I will be triggering an alarm that the whole entire house would here. Then I will be screwed with the guards and Thomas overwhelming me. If I take that route, then I would have to break through one of the many windows, and make a run for it. That would be the best idea instead of freezing up and allowing them to gather around me. Still, I should check this place a bit more, and see if there a clue for the code. Maybe it is something Thomas does?” he thought to himself as he sighed. That part wouldn’t be easy as he got up from the toilet seat, and flushed the toilet to pretend like he had been using it. He turned on the sink as looked around and noticed that the window here was also good for him to enter as well.

Yuurei opened it and noticed where it exit to, and took some tissue and stuffed it somewhere in the window so it wouldn’t fully close. When he was done with that, he exit the bathroom and stretched his arms as he was returning to the gallery. When he got there he looked around some more as he avoided Benihime for now. He looked to see if there was any numbers around these display, but there was nothing he could find. He sighed as he figured he would have to go with his second option, which he didn’t like very much. Still, he was able to find a way to enter this place when the gallery show was over with, which was good. He made his way around one last time as the last thing he had gone to was the legendary sword. He admire it a bit longer, and with that he had exited the house as he was allowed to without a problem. When he had done that he casually walked away from the area and when he got far enough he stopped walking away.

Instead Yuurei figured he would scout the area outside now as that was a good thing. He needed to find a direction on where he would run without having them catch him. The thief started scouting around the house, but from afar. He was able to see the bathroom that he had used, and noticed that there was nobody guarding that area. That was perfect, and he just looked around to see how he would move through Mock Town and make it to Mashyuu without bringing a whole lot of trouble to him. It took a while, but he was able to find a safe path if things had gone bad. Yuurei noticed that with the time of him looking around Thomas’s house, and looking for a safe escape time had gone by quickly. The sun had set without hesitation, and he figured the Gallery would be done. It was time to see if his plan would succeed now.

To the average man, Yuurei's actions were harmless and his questions were interesting, if a bit eccentric. However, Thomas Jones wasn't an average man. He wasn't someone that stumbled into his position, but had earned it by doing his due diligence and having a knack for figuring people out. But even on a night as busy as the gallery, someone of Thomas Jones' history wouldn't have figured out anything about Yuurei's intentions, even with the eccentric questions that were asked. But Yuurei didn't ask the man just any question. Yuurei, honestly interested, asked how many people fell to the blade.

Anyone knows not to ask someone about the kills they've racked up, regardless of whether they're a pirate, marine, or otherwise. To ask that question, especially in a public setting, sets you apart from the average people and it was this question that sparked Jones' interest. As Yuurei walked away, between the crowd of people pushing in on him, Thomas Jones whispered into the ear of one of his many guards. The man, clad in a black suit, nodded his head and left the room. He was gone only moments before he came back, a baby den den mushi in his hand, and relayed the information he'd recieved back to Thomas Jones in a whisper.

Yuurei was a small time thief. There weren't any dangerous games in his history and he didn't have a huge consumer following. But even a small time thief has built some amount of reputation in the underworld. The underworld, however, was a place that Thomas Jones knew well, and was able to get information on Yuurei's past jobs with a few simple phonecalls. He knew very well that a thief wasn't coming to his gallery in the open without any intention but to scope things out. Especially in a manner as carefully as Yuurei's, those were the actions that spoke of hidden intent.

Even so, Yuurei was leaving and the gallery was still an important, populated event. The thief wouldn't be back until later, and that gave him plenty of time to enjoy his gathering and sell some of his weapon collection. And that's what he did for the duration of the party, making more money and making more connections until the crowd died down and he was left mostly alone.

Yuurei looked around just to make sure that he didn’t miss anything, or that something slipped his vision. He had started moving around to make sure that there were no guards around, and soon enough he had entered the vicinity around the house of Thomas. He moved through the dark as he slouched and moved quickly towards any brush that were close by. He would use his eyes as his guide even though it was dark. He figured if he couldn’t see any guards from his position, then they wouldn’t be able to see him, if he kept his movement through the area. Still, he made sure that were he the bathroom window was located had any guards, and he didn’t have to worry about that. Still, he proceed with caution as he didn’t want to draw any unnecessary attention towards him. He kept moving through the field until he had to stop and throw himself into a brush.

He looked through the brush and noticed that there were a few guards walking around the area. It seemed like they were having a conversation, but he didn’t know what it was about. He found it weird as if they didn’t have a care in the world. The thief could just stay in the brush as he was watching them move about. ”That was too close for comfort,” he thought to himself. It was at this point he kind of wished that he had brought Mashyuu along with him, and possibly Harley. He knew that the greater they were in numbers would mean it would be easier for them to be caught, but if it turned into fighting it would be best that he had a bit more than just himself. Then it hit him, why didn’t he bring down their numbers? He thought about it, but then remembered if they didn’t return it would just alert people and have them search for their missing companions.

Yuurei sighed as he found these quick decision hard, but he knew that it came with the job. He stood in the brush until the guards had disappeared from his line of sight. They were far enough to keep moving now, and he had done exactly that. The thief had gotten to the house and with that he looked around one last time before acting. There was nobody that he needed to take out right now, and with that, he attempted to open the window, and with a few tries he was able to open it. The tissue he had placed had worked wonders, which made him smile. He climbed into the window, and dropped down into the bathroom. He looked to see if there was nobody in here, which was good because he would have found it weird to have to take someone out while they were handling their business.

The thief had gotten rid of the tissue that was place in the window, and closed it, so that nobody would think anything about the window. He was quick to move towards the bathroom door and he slowly opened the door. While he was doing this when he was able to see through the opening he made sure to see if there was anybody around, but there was nobody there. Yuurei had slowly close the door, but left it slightly open, so that way it didn’t make too much noise. He looked around the area, and was glad to see that there was nobody around the area. ”So far so good,” he thought to himself as he knew that there were no cameras around this part of the house. Still, he moved slowly through the area as he didn’t want to get off caught off guard by something he didn’t expect. There was that, and he needed to keep his mind clear because he had to react fast towards any unwanted guest.

The setting was dark, but there was a reason that Yuurei was able to see the area better than most people. The thief had flipped his eye patch, so that his right eye could see. It was adjusted to the dark being behind the eye patch all day. He rubbed it for a bit, and then he was on the move. When he got to the corner of where his target was located, he had come to a stop. Yuurei had remembered the areas where the cameras were located, and he had sighed as this was the time. He peeped his head just so his eyes could see where the first camera would be located. This one had moved to see around his area, and when he looked at it, the camera was moving towards his area. Yuurei was quick to place his head back behind the wall, and counted three seconds slowly before he made his move. The man had gotten out of the corner and he made his way to one of the pillars that were holding the house together.

This particular pillar had a blind sight though were none of the cameras would move to. There was a reason why he kept moving through the house over and over, and this was one of the reasons. He sighed as he had made it to this part, and he had almost messed up right at the beginning. Yuurei looked around carefully now as he was making sure that there was nobody here. He did noticed that the glass cases were still there, which meant that Thomas wasn’t cleaning the area today, or they might have another Gallery tomorrow. He didn’t go that far ahead because he planned on stealing this beautiful creation on the first day. Yuurei did see the case that Benihime was held still in the middle. He could see the thickness from the glass, which meant that it was indeed the right case. He sighed as he remembered the two cameras that intersected with vision on the display. He had to be careful with this, and make sure he didn’t trip any alarms until he had the sword in his hand.

Yuurei had peeped to look at the two cameras that were observing the middle glass case. He could see their movements and he was refreshing his memory with how they moved. He just kept looking at the two cameras, but at the same time he made sure that his ears were aware of any movements that were coming from around the area. He was sure that there wouldn’t be anybody sneaking around, so hearing any footsteps would be easy for him. The thief decided that he would continue to observe the two cameras for a bit as he was trying to get the timing perfect. While he was doing that he had figured that he would try the code that he had gotten from earlier. If it worked it would make things easier, but he knew that he would have a limited of time if it didn’t work. Still, it didn’t take long for him to figure out the pattern of the cameras. He was able to learn that he had gotten about a six second opening where he would be able to punch the code, and take the sword.

The thief calmed his breathing now as he was a bit worried. He never stole one of the swords that he was seeking before. This was his first time, and even though he had done a lot of stealing for different clients, this time it was for his own selfish reasons. He knew that there was a risk of not obtaining the weapon he wanted, but he knew this was a once in a life time opportunity to gain Benihime. Yuurei ad steeled his resolve, and his conscious as he knew it was now, or never. Yuurei moved towards the case now as he ran towards it. The cameras didn’t intercept him, and he knew it was time to try the code. Yuurei had moved around the case until he seen where the security was to press the codes. He pressed eight, four three, two, seven and nine in that order, and he was hoping that it would work. When he pressed the last number, he stood still knowing that it was now or never. It felt like eternity, and he was getting ready to take his sword out and cut the case open.

And then it happened, the glass case had made a noise, and it started opening up from the top as it was making its way to the bottom. Yuurei eyes widen when he seen this because he was surprised to see that it worked. He wanted to dwell about why it was working, but the sword was in his sight, and he knew that he had to act quickly. Yuurei knew things were fishy, but he had Benihime right in front of his face. The pirate was quick to use his sword to smack Benihime into the air, and with that he had caught the blade with its sheathe and everything. ”Hello there Beni. I’m Yuurei and I’m going to take care of you from now on,” he said this moving back to the pillar again. ”We going to go on adventure,” he said this to the katana speaking to the blade like it was sentinel.

The man had moved through the area, making sure to go through every step he had used to get to the center of it all. The one thing that was bugging him was how easy it was. He figured it was due to his careful planning, but he knew that not everything went this well. He knew that in the field there were things called improvising to adjust things to work, but he didn’t have to do that. Yes, there were guards were he though there wouldn’t be any, but besides that he didn’t see anything, or anyone. Now that he thought about the situation, the inside of this house was to quiet, and that within itself was quite fishy. It made him a bit nervous honestly, and he just entered the bathroom as he looked at himself in the mirror. ”Don’t think too hard on it. You almost home free, and then soon enough we will be able to help out the captain better than with just one sword,” he thought to himself as he was trying to cut off his doubts.

Yuurei looked at the window, and thought about how long the guards had passed this area. It was quite a while and he wasn’t sure if they would have made their round to this area by now. He kissed his teeth as he forgot to think about that when he was entering the house. He had his eye on the ball, which made him forget to take into account the guards. Yuurei would have to chance it and soon enough he had approached the window, and opened it without hesitating. The thief had climbed out of the window, and he didn’t see anything, or anybody that was around him. That was good, and he started moving forward. He figured things were going his way now as his doubts had been thrown out of his mind, but that only last a few seconds. A minute or two after, light shined bright towards Yuurei, which caused him to block his vision.

He wasn’t sure what was going on, but he rubbed his eyes, and looked around to see who had done this. ”Well I guess I was expected to be here?” he asked not sure who did this, but he had an idea.

The spotlight shown on Yuurei, stealing his eyesight from him for only a split second. But in that moment the young thief was surrounded by Thomas' armed guard. Twelve individuals, taller and more solidly built than Yuurei, wielded a variety of weapons from swords to muskets. All weapons were raised at the ready, pointed directly at the trespasser they had been warned about. Thomas Jones, the man himself, walked from around the corner of the house and came into the well lit part of the yard to see the captured rat for himself. The guard shuffled their feet, separating slightly to give their employer some standing room.

"Young," the man began. His voice was gruff and weathered. He wasn't that old of a gentleman, but the time he'd spent on the ocean had worn on him greatly. "I could go on this long monologue about how you're young and naive, but you could read any story and get the same effect. All I want to do is let you know that you messed with the wrong guy before I rip your head from your shoulders."

With a motion of his hand, the guards with guns, five in total, raised them to their eyes, taking aim with the intent to fire.

"Set my sword down. Gently. It's special."

If Yuurei listened closely, he could hear the triggers of each gun being squeezed slightly, a small click as the trigger wiggled in place. Each guard was ready to fire if the young thief made any move that wasn't the one commanded by their boss.

When he was able to see through the bright light, he could see that there were around twelve people around the area. It seemed like he wasn’t going to be able to get away from this without having to go through some type of difficult. He should have listen to his gut as he had a feeling that things were going too smoothly. Still, he examine the situation he was in, and the amount of guns that were pointed at him. He could only eye each and every one that was there and sighed because none of them were Thomas. That just meant they were thirteen people with Thomas included. He figured the man was around, so he just changed the way he was standing into that of a certain fighting style. He noticed that the guards were separating, and soon enough he could see the man of the hour, Thomas. He just gave out a smirk because he figured the man would fight him one on one, but he doubt that was going to happen.

At the end of the day he didn’t really want to fight anybody here, but he was going to have to get a little dirty, if he wanted to make his way out of here with Benihime. He looked at the man, but he made sure that he didn’t forget about the men that were ready to attack him. He heard what he had said to him, and he could only chuckle a bit. He was young, and naïve, but that was how people of his age were. They did the things they thought were possible. In his case he figured he could do the same, and he honestly felt like he would still be able to do it. The young pirate had an adventure to go on, and he had other people waiting for him as well. There was no way he was going to give up right here. He wasn’t scared of the threat that Thomas had threw at him. If anything Yuurei had welcomed it, and noticed that the guns that were held by the guards had now been pointed in his general direction.

Yuurei inhaled the air that was around him, and then exhaled as he heard Thomas’s only warning. His eyes met that of Thomas with the expression he wasn’t going to give up right here. Things were quiet and it seemed like things would get messy now. He took out Ichi, and Benihime out of their sheathes as both were used one in each hand. He figured the bullets would be shot as soon as he did this, and with that he had started using a skill of his own. ”Nitoryu: Youkai’s Hei,” he said this as he could and would hear bullets being shot towards him. His mind focused as he was going to use his speed, and focus to cut and deflect the bullets coming his way. With his sword Ichi, he planned on deflecting the bullets that came from his right, and from his left he would cut down any bullets with Benihime. The swords were moving around quickly especially with the length of Yuurei’s arms.

When, or if the bullets were deflected the thief had decided it would be best if he had gone on the offense. He decided that he would take out the men who used guns first because they were the ones that he worried about the most. Their range were scary, and would be able to take him out if he was running away from the fight. Yuurei had ran straight towards them with speed and when he got close to them he had decided to use another attack in his arsenal. ”Nitoryu: Jiten Kire,” he spun around when he got close to two gunners and attempted to slash at both of them with a blade targeting one person. With this Yuurei would end up behind the two gunners whether or not he had hit them, and changed his posture standing up and turning to face the men who were now behind him. ”I can’t leave Benihime behind. She has been used as a showcase. She should be free and go on the adventure she deserve. I don’t think she wants to be locked up in a house for your entire lifespan!” he shouted at Thomas as he wasn’t sure, if he should run, or continue fighting.

Thomas knew that the thief was stronger than the guards he had hired for his gallery. They were there to take care of the average person, which anyone that was willing to steal from him was not. However, even if Yuurei c ould overpower or outspeed the lackies, Thomas knew that he himself was of a different caliber, even from Yuurei.

The retired pirate easily kept watch on the boy as he sped towards two of the guards, cutting them down with relative ease. But as the boy paused on the otherside, the other three guards had reloaded their own weapons and fired another volley. The seven guards holding melee weapons got in on the fight as will, moving toward the thief in unison as one, clean unit. They might not have been the strongest individuals in the world, but they were highly trained and very capable of working as a team.

The grunts bombarded the singular opponent with slash after slash, after stab after stab. They took turns throwing punches, using their numbers as an advantage to hopefully wear Yuurei out before going in for the final kill. With two of their friends and coworkers dead beside them, they were able to attack with a vigor that would have otherwise gone to other projects.

"Good job, men," Thomas said, urging thyem on as he watched them go for it. He could tell how they were feeling, and whether it be because of the dead guard or the opportunity to raise his blade once more, the man was filled with just as much excitement as the men he had hired.

Thomas moved towards the thief, weaving between the guards to add in additional attacks without messing up the rhythm of the guards. His attacks were much faster and much more precise than theirs were as well, creating a deadly combination with the his increased skill level. He was every bit as fast as Yuurei, every bit as strong, with the added benefit of being someone who had endured through fights like this on numerous occasions.

Letting his sword go was a non-option.

When Yuurei turned to look at the men it seemed like they were ready on the move to attack him again. It seemed like the men with the guns were on the move and shot at him. Now there were three shots being made towards him, but that wasn’t just it this time. The men with the swords were also on the move as well. He didn’t have time to wait for them to get close to him and beat on him to death. He was out number, and honestly he wasn’t going to fight from the start. His main go was to get the sword and make a run for it when he felt like it was safe. Still, it seemed like things had gone differently than what he had hoped for it to go. The bullets shot at him, but he tumbled to his right as he was rolling on the floor while the bullets were being shot at him. When he got up from the ground, and he did this quickly he noticed that the seven men with swords were on top of him and ready to take action.

Yuurei decided it was time to play defense, and this time he stood quiet instead of before when he shouted out the name of his technique. Instead he used in silence again as he was moving his blades around and parrying the blades that were making their way to hit him, and if any arms actually got close to punching him, then he would have slice their hands. He did noticed that it was overwhelming though and a few attacks had manage to bypass his defense, grazing his arms, and giving the man superficial wounds. Still, while he was doing this he heard Thomas in the background cheering his men on, and it didn’t take long for him to try and get in the action. He noticed the attack that was coming towards him from Thomas, and while he was preoccupied with the barrage attacks, the head man himself threw a punch towards Yuurei.

The first fist that struck Yuurei from Thomas send him flying, but it was because Yuurei use the impact to gain distance from the group of people. He felt the pain from the hit, and he cringed as he could feel the power from the blow. He knew that couldn’t go toe to toe with everybody that was here all at the same time. It wasn’t the time for that, so he decided to do the next best thing. The thief had gotten what he wanted, so he turned around, and started running away. He didn’t say anything to the group that was in now behind him as he was making a run for it. Yuurei didn’t just run in a straight line either. They were diagonal paths, so the bullets wouldn’t hit him. ”That man hits hard, and just fighting all of them at once isn’t the smartest idea,” he said this to himself as he was running as best as he could.

He was using his escape route, and knew what coming up soon. He decided that it was best to block their path to make it harder for them to catch up to him. Yuurei had made a right, and when he took it he seen the objects that were around him. He spun around again using his Nitoryu: Jiten Kire to destroy the objects around him. They crumbled around him as they fell to the ground, and would make it harder for anybody who was chasing him to actually run after him. He made a difficult terrain for his chasers, and when he spun and did this, he never let up his speed as it had actually gotten faster at the moment. Yuurei continued to run through the town as he was hoping that he would be able to lose the men that were going to be chasing him. He could see the wounds that were given by Thomas’s guards, but he had to do his best to leave with Benihime in hand.

The thief's tactics were clever, and using Thomas' punch as a getaway vehicle worked the way he had planned. Yuurei was pushed out of the group of guards, preventing himself from taking any further damage than what was caused by Thomas himself. The distance also gave him the perfect opportunity to escape, especially when the guards were momentarily taken aback by the sly moves of their target. But as they watched Yuurei turn tail and make an escape attempt, they turned on their heels and followed him as a group.

Thomas Jones placed his hands on his hips and stood up straight for a second, smirking and admiring Yuurei's clever actions. He knew that his guards were no match for the thief; they'd never be able to catch up with him, regardless of how perfectly their pursuit went, if Yuurei didn't want to be caught. If the thief had gotten his hands on any other weapon, he may have just dropped it and called his men back. But alas, Benihime was in the hands of some greenhorn thief, and that wasn't something that sat well with the retired pirate.

Only moments had passed since his guards had taken off, but when Thomas began his run, he quickly caught up to the men and passed them by. But even if he were faster than his hired goons, he wouldn't be able to catch up to Yuurei either unless he played the cards he had up his sleeve. As the young thief rounded a corner in front of him, Thomas took a deep step before pushing with all his strength off the ground. It was a clean leap, besting even the greatest olympic athletes.

Thomas' first foot placed on the roof of the house between him and his target, pushing one step further he was over the center, and that's when he took a hip dive off the side. His aim was true, his strength had covered the gap in distance, and he was able to come down right above Yuurei in his current position. This time, his hands weren't empty. Each palm was padded with the hilt of a sword and as the man came down from his rooftop attack, he intended to take off Yuurei's head with one clean guillotine chop.

Yuurei didn’t hear the steps of the guards chasing him anymore, and that was good. He figured he had lost Thomas’s men, and would be okay with the run to the clinic now. That was his plan from the beginning, and he couldn’t wait to get home and rest. He was offered a couch there by Mashyuu, which he gladly accepted. It had beat the fact that he was paying where he was sleeping in. Still, he didn’t stop running in the pace he was moving. He was looking straight forward as he could see that there was nobody on the streets. It was a dark right now, well dark enough to be called dark, but light enough to be able to see around the area. He was moving through, and then he felt like something was wrong. Yuurei had already learned that plans never went the right way, and he had to remember this no matter what.

He knew that Thomas was determine to get his katana back, and this man was stronger than his guards. He had felt it with the blow he had given him, so he could only imagine he would be around the area looking for him. The thief had heard something, it sounded like sword being taken out of their sheathed and soon enough he looked upward, and his eyes widen when he noticed that it was Thomas that was diving straight at him. ”Shit,” he said to himself as he couldn’t dodge the attack due to the fact that he stopped his movements when he heard a sound that was too familiar to him. The only thing he could do was lift Benihime and hope that she could defend him the best possible way. When the blades collided with each other, he tried his best to hold him off, but the power of Thomas plus the fact that gravity was on his side didn’t look good for him.

Yuurei’s arm was pushed down, but being a longed armed he had pushed the man away from him. Yuurei stumbled back because of the force that Thomas had presented himself with. There was something he felt and he looked at the right side of chest and noticed that he was bleeding. The wound wasn’t deep, but he had caught him with the blade. Still, he had diverted the blades main target, and that was good. Still, he could tell from the collision of swords that Thomas was strong, and even great at using his swords. The good thing about this fight right now as that he didn’t have Benihime on his side, or Yuurei was sure that he would be the one losing without a doubt. He looked at Thomas though as the man would have landed on the ground by now.

He was looking at the man wondering if he would be able to show any sign of opening, but he was sure just by looking at him that this was going to be a hard fight. He decided that he would take things slow, and make sure that he would be able to find an opening to end this fight. Yuurei had moved towards Thomas and this time he had swung Ichi first at him with all his might and speed, and soon after if he had missed or connected with one, or both of his blades then Benihime would come from his side and made sent flying towards Thomas’s arm. He wanted to see what the man would do, and if any collision would happen Yuurei would quickly draw his sword back reading to defend, if Thomas would go on the offense. He had to make sure that the guards didn’t sneak up behind him either, so he was aware of his surroundings.

Greenhorns have certain tells compared to veterans, regardless of what they're practicing. In the same manner that Yuurei gave up his intentions to Thomas at the gallery without realizing it, he was doing the same thing now. A one-two slash combo from a swordsman is a pretty basic tactic, and isn't something that's reliable in an actual fight. Thomas Jones, at this point in his confrontation with the thief, had Yuurei figured out like the back of his own hand.

As soon as Yuurei had committed to his attack, Thomas was prepared. He flipped the blade in his left hand around so that the tip of the blade faced the floor. The blade in his right hand parried the sword coming at his arm, and the blade in his left hand, tilted lower, was in perfect position to intercept the second attack. It wasn't a defensive stance taken out of seeing the blades or getting lucky; it was out of pure prediction, having seen through Yuurei.

As the young thief stepped back, Thomas flexed. The second Yuurei glanced over his shoulder to check for any more assaulters, Thomas Jones lunged with both swords pointed directly at the young man's chest, ready to run him through. However, rather than actually pressing forward with the attack and thrusting with the blades, they were only a diversion. In reality, when the distance was closed, Thomas Jones would through a kick at Yuurei's left knee in an attempt to shatter it completely and prevent any escape.
