Rocco made sure he was a decent guy, doing decent things, in a decent manner. Helping people when he wanted to not out of obligation or for some sort of good feeling he gets. Not one single shred of anger would flourish in his body. Rocco's morals didn't really allow it. Rocco was all for doing what you wanted whenever you wanted. Fuck the consequences. It's just that if you threaten Rocco or his way of life then you have a problem. And currently, these Greenbeck pirates were messing with Rocco's happy go lucky days on the island. But thinking about it logically why haven't Marines come and stopped these guys if there were such a threat? Or were they not even on their radar. There could also be the case of blackmail. "Say something and i'll kill you" kind of BM.
Rocco would shrug off the notion. What use would blackmailing children have? Another one of Rocco's morals were to not hurt kids no matter what. Rocco would stick his hands in his pockets as he listened to the old lady's pleas. And from the amount of time Rocco spent with Juan, Rocco could tell that Juan was very gung-ho with his emotions. Which don't get me wrong is a good thing, and a bad thing as well. Rocco will be checking on Juan on this adventure though. As if Juan goes too far and happens to endanger Rocco's Captain, as the First Mate he has to step in and stop him. Even as a friend Rocco's short-term Captain comes first.
Rocco would shiver at the thought of him being so loyal. He used to be such a lone wolf doing anything he wanted, not under anyone's rule. But then Rocco got introduced to Devil Fruits. And that changed his whole world. Showing him that people can be much stronger than Rocco with a fruit. But for some reason, Rocco just didn't feel like going after one. He thought that he didn't need one to be strong. Maybe it was a pride thing or something, but one thing was for sure. Rocco was adamant about not eating a fruit of his own volition. With his hands still in his pockets, Rocco would look once more to his Captain. "Off we go then?" Beginning to whistle a toon.
