As Juan and the Children of the Sun stepped of the Sea Train and onto Water 7, Juan was filled with eagerness. While Juan had no real allegiance to the Cult or faith in their beliefs, he knew that having them by his side would be very beneficial if he was ever going to take down the Greenbeck pirates and get back Reya’s map. Noticing Juan’s enthusiasm, Kaiyo informed him of his appreciation by saying,”It’s good to see you so enthusiastic Brother Juan, that enthusiasm will benefit you greatly during your initiation.” Looking up at Kaiyo, Juan grinned and said,”Yeah, I’m ready to get right to this thing! Soaring into the air, Juan looked back down at the Children, asking them ”Well? What are you guys waiting for? Let’s do this initiation already! Juan was originally speaking very brightly, but now he had gone back to his usual serious tone of voice. ”Before you can begin your initiation we must wait for the call from the Son of Ra, our leader. Usually he would handle the initiation himself but he’s busy so I’ll be handling it under his orders.”
As if on cue, the Den Den Mushi on Kaiyo’s belt began to ring. Pulling out and holding it to his ear, Kaiyo began to speak to his boss,”Boss! We were just talking about you. How do you want me to handle this initiation? Finding an animal, seducing a non believer, how are we going to do this.” Kaiyo was normally a pretty bright personality, but the look on his face when his boss answered his question about Juan’s initiation was anything but bright. ”Are you sure sir? That’s seems a bit drastic for a simple initiation.” Kaiyo was now visibly sweating, which couldn’t mean anything good for Juan or his hopes of getting the cult to support him against the Greenbeck’s. ”Of course sir, you’re right sir.” Ending the call, and taking a second to gain some color back into his face, Kaiyo turned to Juan and spoke to him the way one would speak to a terminally ill friend,”Brother Juan, our boss wants you to complete the trials of Ra.”
"Trials of Ra? What the fuck is that?" Juan was doing his best to hide his shock and awe but the surprised and frightened looks on the faces of the Children of the Sun weren't doing anything to make him feel better. "The Trials of Ra..." Kaiyo began,"Are a set of challenges done by the Children of Ra to determine the next Son of Ra. Having an initiate complete the trials is unheard of, not to mention an extremely huge commitment." Juan was completely stuck following Kaiyo's statement; and struggling to wrap his head around things, he was forced to ask the biggest questions to Kaiyo directly,"Why would the leader want me to do that? And what sort of commitment are we talking about? Kaiyo's face became grave as he forced out his answer,"Once the trials of Ra have been completed...The successful Son of Ra will be considered an Outlaw, unable to ever live a life as a normal person. You'd be a criminal for life." Juan froze, struggling to process the mountain of information that was just dumped onto his head,'An Outlaw forever? That's heavy, I dont know if I'm ready to make that sort of commitment.' Then Juan thought of Reya, and the Greenbeck Pirates. Was he willing to become an Outlaw if that meant he'd be able to deal with jerks like that and not end up losing someone who could make him care so much so quickly? Was that worth not being able to walk around without having to deal with a few marines? His answer was pretty clear after only a moment of thought,"I'm in."
