Yuurei smiled when he saw who it was, and he felt like he hadn’t seen him in years. Kazu was outside, and both of them were smiling at each other. They would walk up to each other and gave each other their form of a handshake before stepping back from each other.
”What have you been doing for two months? I thought you and your family left the island. I went to your place, but it was empty as it could be. It surprised me, but I figured that the marines would come looking for you if you stood there.” He told Yuurei.
”I was training with my mom for two months. She was teaching me more on using a sword. She has this weird style, but I can wield four swords right now, and she wants to teach me how to use more. Maybe I’ll show you later.” He paused for a bit before talking again.
”I see your mom doesn’t want us to hang out together. That’s why you surprised me when you said something while I was climbing. Have you heard from Shiro by the way?” He spoke to Kazu as he got straight to the point.
Kazu looked around and remembered that his mother didn’t want him to hang out with Yuurei. He grabbed his friend on the arm and pulled him away from his house and towards a place where his mother couldn’t see them. It wouldn’t take long for someone to open the front door, and it was his mother. She looked around trying to find something, but there was nothing to find.
”I swore I heard people talking. Oh well, must be my imagination.” She said as she closed the door.
Kazu sighed with relief that his mother didn’t find him. He looked at Yuurei with a straight face this time before he spoke.
”Yeah mom said you were like cursed or something, so she doesn’t want me to hang out with you. But what does she know, you didn’t come up with that plan Shiro did. She thinks something bad will happen to me if I keep hanging out with you, but I’m going to prove her wrong.” He said as he laughed a bit.
”I saw Shiro, but he ignored me. It was as if I didn’t exist in this world to him, or we never met. He is basically acting like the others were acting after the Marines took them in. I don’t know what they are doing to those kids, but it can’t be good. Still, it seems like you have gotten stronger.” Kazu said to Yuurei.
”Yeah I have, but that is because of my mom and dad. They were training me in their own ways for the last two months. I got to thank them for that. I’m just glad you still talking to me.” He said to Kazu.
The boy laughed as he punched Yuurei on the arm, but did nothing to his friend.
”There is no reason I would stop talking to you Yuurei. We almost died together, so you are my friend to the bitter end. Now let’s go do what we always do.” he said with a smile on his face.
Yuurei smiled at him as he was happy to hear that and nodded with agreement as the two went off to the market section of the island. Little did Yuurei know, he was actually cursed and that Kazu would be meeting his end in the years to come.
