At first it seemed as if the handful of them were home-free, but the sight of the marine ships sailing into view diminished that thought. Two, no, three ships, sailing across the waters up ahead of them along the horizon, their positioning tells Gideon that they are probably setting up a blockade, but the real question was: Do they see him?
The sound of the firing cannons answered Gideon's question, now the situation has worsen. Regardless, the giant pushed forward, every part of him yelled at him to keep going, because he knew subconsciously he would lose much more than what he had already lost. The island behind him was probably already being swarmed by marines and now there is a blockade before him at the coast, if he allowed himself to be pinned in, then he'll be shackled again, he would have failed his his mission to save his mother, to save Yuurei.
Cannonballs colliding with the ground behind up kicked up heavy amounts of debris, but the giant didn't allow it to slow his pace, he pushed forward. Not only would he be captured, he would be allowing the capture of Daimaru and probably Lebosi simply because of association. "Damn it!" he cursed under his breath. He gritted his teeth as he ran straight ahead, trying to keep the beeline for the shore. Dai was right, if he could get into the water, then at least he would be safe, as for Gideon himself and Legosi, the giant would have to try and figure out something, maybe even board one of the marine ships just to avoid the cannon-fire.
More debris kicked up around him. He looked kept his eyes to the sparks of the ship, the sight of the cannon-fire, they were getting dangerously close, they could either be captured, or die here. An announcement sounded through speakers coming from the ships, demanding for his surrender. Gideon's heart pounded heavily, probably heavier than his footfall, at this point, he felt he couldn't stop, his ears were red, the blood pumping faster and faster as all he could worry about was trying to make it off of this island, he didn't want to go back to shackles, he didn't want to be locked away, he didn't want to lose more people.
A cannonball collided with Gideon, the forced kicked up debris and managed to cover him, the mink, and the fishman for a moment before the giant burst through the debris, holding out Jormungandr, his thirty foot blade, coated in the black hardening, Busoshoku haki. Though the blade blocked the damaging blast, no doubt it retained a good amount of the damage; no matter, Dai and Legosi were safe. Gideon pushed forward.
"Toss Salad!" Gideon cursed as loudly as he could, giving his answer to the marines. Once he reached the sandy shore, he lifted his left arm so he could use his teeth to grab and hang Legosi by the collar of his suit, then with left hand, he grabbed Daimaru and with all his strength, launched the fishman as far as he could towards the middle ship. No doubt Daimaru wouldn't be able to land on the ship, but landing in the water would be better, hopefully Dai already has a plan in mind.
Gideon continued trek forward trying to get to the water before more cannons would blare.
