Flashback

Forcefully we will rewind the clock. Before Hannibal Uchis had learned and changed due to events on Sandy Island. Going back just s day after he had just arrived to the Island from Baltigo to follow his new commanding officer Commodore Ricchi. It was a normal day for Hannibal but turned into something unexpected.

Hannibal had just finished his turn of patrol of the port of Nanohana. The day was hot and long, and Hannibal had to change his attire from the usually well pressed suit to something more fitting. A pair of tan cargo short and a white collared button down shirt, it did have the marine ensigns in the back. He kept it bright to reflect as much of the beaming sun light he could. To keep the breeze going on as much as he couldn’t he had on a pair of sandales.

He was on the deck of the ship. He had bought s umbrella when in town and had put it up for some personal shade. He’d also buy himself a chair as the ones Ricchi had on his ship weren’t really all that confortable for the delicate body of Hannibal. He wished he brought some snacks as he relaxed but the ice cold glass and pitcher of water he had would be alright for now.

Dark Horse Ricchi
Per usual, Commodore Ricchi was a busy man. He had many avenues of life and balancing them all while being steadily active and involved in them all was never an easy feat for anyone. Currently he felt he was about allocating about 35% of his focuses to the Marines. Though not much apprehending or much of anything was currently going on, there was a alot to prepare for this campaign in regards to the Fool's Gold. Further since he was written to be on leave in Water 7, he had to scribe up letters in regards to the whereabouts of each man in his unit and why they were there. It's a bit difficult to concoct a reason why one's whole Unit was currently in Alabasta when they weren't even supposed to be active duty at the moment. Surely the World Government would suspect Lu Dahn had something in the works, but they trusted the Commodore enough to give him that slack on his leash.

In regards to his modeling he was giving 10% of his focus to it. It was hard for him to have such a loose grip on his modeling career, but the fact that his time off in the modeling industry was attributed to the fact he was Commodore int he Marines, it made it alright. What's more noble than a man putting his life on the line for the sake of the safety of others and beyond that the man was good at his job in the Marines. Good enough to ascend to the rank of Commodore. Needless to say his standing in the modeling industry was safe as long as he threw his agency a bone at least once every month.

Then there was 50% focused on himself and his own personal growth as a man. His focus on himself was always at least at 50%, there was nothing in the world he'd put before himself, even his duty as a Marine. It just so happened that as of lately, Ricchi had grown a bit obsessed with his standing as a Marine and he wanted to enter the ranking of the various "Admiral" titles as soon as possible. Once there he felt he could actually give himself a break and be proud of all the progress he's made to get there.

Lastly there was the measly 5% he was giving to dealings that regarded his family's business in the banking industry. As he lived now, he didn't even see himself retiring to his family's business. WHile he was good with the numbers and the scheme of banking, he never had a true passion for it. He'd help out when asked to if he could of course, but it was never enjoyable work to him. He felt majority of his family felt obligated to be involved in the family business, because of how much status and power it gave them. They were literally born into wealth because of it. Despite that Lu Dahn never felt obligated to do anything and felt obligations were just for people with a certain moral code. He simply did things because he wanted to, it was no deeper than that. Even though he weaseled his way into the Fool's Gold campaign, he doesn't even feel obligated to perform with his best, he simply will do so because he wants to and it'd benefit him to do so.

Each of the letters explaining the whereabouts of the men of his Unit were dispatched. A seagull employed by the World Government would fly out Lu Dahn's porthole in his quarters towards Marineford to deliver his messages. With that settled he'd take a step out of the dim lit room to get some fresh air and perhaps even some exercise, but not before changing to appropriate clothes. A nice quality black v-neck, a pair of black joggers with a red stripe down the side of the leg, and then a pair of comfortable looking red running shoes.

The first thing he'd see when he left his room was Captain Uchis relaxing on the deck. This man for some reason had a weird hold on Lu Dahn's attention span, it was always this way. Naturally Lu Dahn was always competitive, but for so long he hadn't encountered anyone he respected enough to even rival. Even then, he'd yet to gain an appropriate amount of respect for Captain Uchis through his actions and character to explain why he felt the need to "beat" him. Beat him in what? What was the competition? Not even Commodore Ricchi was sure, but he just didn't want to be bested by Captain Uchis and he wanted to display he was better than the Captain at any given moment.

Walking towards his Captain, he'd call out to him. "Captain Uchis, in preparation for the mission to come, would you care to spar with me?" He'd stop a comfortable amount of distance away from the man, hands in pocket, and though he was facing Uchis, his focus would be over his right shoulder towards the endless blue waters of the Grandline. He'd turn his attention back to Uchis if he was interested in sparring and speak once more. "I suggest we take it to the beach. There's a semi-secluded cove about 1 mile out west." He pointed west to the area he spoke of. He went there early in some mornings to start his PT on some days.

Hannibal thought this was going to be his day to relax before he had to go on the assignment the group was assigned. He was wrong. Very, very, very wrong about that. Today was going to be something else. Something that he didn't expect to happen at all. Ricchi would ask for a spar. Something that many would just see as simply a light hearted thing. That though was not how it was for Hannibal. He grew up in a place that when you spared someone you didn't hold back. You fought with all you had for many reasons. To get stronger and improve. Or simply to prove you are better than that person. Hannibal could not sense the intentions from Ricchi but believed it was the first part. This was going to be a exercise for them to get stronger and improve their teamwork. A smile would leap over the face of Hannibal as he slowly got up from his seat. "I did enjoy this relaxation. But can I really say no to this request?" After he said his rhetorical question Hannibal would drink the water that was within his glass. He wanted to to keep hydrated especially on a day like this. He drunk it without having his lips touch the glass.

"Would you like a cup before we go? Don't want you passing out." Hannibal would say as he'd fill the glass back up. He didn't know if Ricchi would accept this offer but wouldn't feel any type of way if he didn't accept the offer. If Ricchi took the glass Hannibal would begin to stretch right there as he drank it. If Ricchi didn't want it Hannibal would just drink it and place it down in his chair. He wanted to walk over there together as he did want to speak to Ricchi about all of this.

"Lead the way Commodore." Hannibal would say. As he was ready for this. He had never seen or heard of how Ricchi fought. So he was going into this without any knowledge of how he'd fight Ricchi at all. He was confident that he would be able to learn that and a lot more by the end of this spar with his Commodore. Hannibal would begin to follow Ricchi whenever he was ready for them to go. He hoped that there would be some shade there they could fight under, but if there wasn't he was fine with that. He had trained in worse conditions so sparring in the blazing heat would more or less be the same as that. Well, that was what he hoped at least. Many things would go through his mind as he waited to follow behind Ricchi. Strangely he would think back to when his Father would scold him about sparring with another Kid from their village.

~Flashback~

Before a young Hannibal was his Father. A disappointed look on his face. "You lost control again?"

"No, Father. I was in complete control our spar was to prove I was better. And I did such that." Hannibal would say as he was begin bandaged up by a Woman. She would stop before she could finish as Hannibal's Father would strike the boy with his cane and shake his head in disappointment. Displeased with how his Son was acting. Hannibal would rub the top of his head as tears filled his eyes. "WHAT I DO?! WHAT I DID!?!" Hannibal would ask confused on why he was hit at all for being honest.

"You hurt that boy, learn control. I don't care the reason of why it is you two spared but if you can't stop yourself from hurting another you don't deserve to fight." His Father would say as he'd bring the crying boy close to him. He kneeled down to his height so he was looking into his eyes as he spoke and before he pulled him into a hug.

"O-Okay." Hannibal would say as he'd go into a full blown cry.

~Present~

It wasn't like that experience correlated to this one that much. It did show part of the reason Hannibal assumed this would a certain type of spar. As he had no doubt Ricchi knew how to fight. He was actually pretty confident he knew how very well. He would just begin to assume that the lessons that his Father had given to him were normal. That almost everyone went through the same things that he had, even when that is not the case at all. Hannibal was being naive to the world as he usually did.

Lu Dahn was glad to hear Hannibal wouldn't be refusing his offer to spar. He'd be curious to see just how adept the Captain was and now his curiosity would hopefully be put to rest. To the cup of water, Lu Dahn politely lifted his hand with an open palm facing Captain Uchis. Simultaneously he shook his head side to side. "No thank you. I appreciate the offer, however." Looking out towards the cove, Uchis would tell Lu Dahn to lead the way and he would do just that. Stripping off his shirt, he'd fold it and set it on the deck near his feet. Next he'd take of his shoes, all the while he'd be speaking to his Captain. "We'll swim there to warm up our bodies. After a minute's worth of rest we'll begin our spar. See you there." Saying nothing more Lu Dahn would run towards the railing of the ship, leap once to land atop this wooden railing, then leap once more to leave the Enforcer. With excellent form he'd be sailing through the air over the water then into the watery deep. They were close enough to shore so the water wasn't dangerous, but far enough that it was deep enough to swim in. Atop the surface of the water Lu Dahn would work his stroke not even bothering to look back and see if Captain Uchis was following him.

Eventually he could feel the burn swelling up in his arms, more specifically his shoulders, but he wouldn't let up with his pace. He wasn't racing Captain Uchis, but he was racing himself. The Commodore frequented this route in the morning when he wanted to switch up his fitness routine. He current record from the ship to the cove was one minute and forty seconds. So he'd continue to press through the burn in his shoulders as to improve his time and strengthen the muscle all the while. When he'd finally arrive at the cove's sandbar, he would have counted to ninety-eight. It was better than his old time by two seconds, but he was aiming to beat it by five seconds. He'd need more work, but for now he'd settle with that and focus on recovering for his spar with the Captain. The reason he wanted to spar immediately after the swim was to simulate the fatigue of a real battle. With their muscles already semi-worn down and recovering from the swim, they'd have to push harder to execute during the spar.

Water would drip down his slim and chiseled body as he walked towards the cove. The beach that lead to it was peppered with large rocks that were up to 7ft in height offering great cover at times. They weren't too close together, so it also didn't put much of a damper on maneuverability, but still prevented too much linear movement. It'd definitely be an interesting bout. Further towards the cove the rocks let up and it was just sand until there would be too large rock structures. They'd be like walls for a wide path they formed that just lead to the ocean, each rock wall structure was at least 50ft tall. At the foot of the cove, Lu Dahn would stop and turn to face Captain Uchis. The end of the recovery minute was drawing near, the time they'd take to walk to the base of the cove would take up this time. Lu Dahn would hope Captain Uchis was keeping track of time, but even then Lu Dahn wouldn't act the moment the minute was over. Instead he'd give the first move to his officer. Taking a slightly bent knee stance to be ready to move, Lu Dahn would speak. "The first move is yours Uchis."

Hannibal would drink the water due to Lu Dahn not wanting any. As stated before that was fine and Hannibal would not feel any type of way about it. After he finished the cup he'd place it down and watch Lu Dahn begin to remove some articles of clothing, just his shirt and shoes. He though would be more focused on the words that'd leave the mouth of Lu Dahn. And honestly he was not the biggest fan when it came to swimming. He was afraid or anything like that. It was just a activity that he didn't particularly enjoy it at all.

He'd watch the superb form of Lu Dahn. How he ran and jumped was not something you'd expect from a pretty boy. He move over to the side railing just as Lu Dahn had. Not wasting any time to keep up. Hannibal would remove any of his clothing as he just didn't feel like doing that. He'd move down the railing as he would not be jumping down at the same area that Lu Dahn did. He'd opt to going leaping into the shallowest end he could get to. He'd dive in but instantly he felt as if he was going to drown. It was swallow to the point the water only got to his knee. But he felt so strangle he began to stubble to his side, that was closest to the shore. 'What the hell?' Is the thought he'd have in his head as he slowly gained back his energy. Now that the water was only at his ankles he didn't feel fatigued at all like he did when he first dived him. Not wanting to experience that he'd just run along the shore as long as he could.

The gap between him and Lu Dahn wasn't the largest but it was effident there was one. If this was a race Hannibal would indeed lost due to the set back he had just experienced. As he ran he picked up more speed but even with that and the stride he had he would still be behind Lu Dahn. He was glad he didn't see Lu Dahn look back to see him lagging behind so far. If going by water didn't pose a trouble for Hannibal he would've had a easier time. He most likely wouldn't be fast enough to move at the pace that Lu Dahn had went. Both Lu Dahn and Hannibal were faster than normal people and the amount of distance they both could cover in a short amount of time was scary. Though Hannibal would arrived close to thirty seconds after Lu Dahn others would've taken longer.

He'd keep running till he would be a few feet, three, behind Lu Dahn. Luckily for him this happened once Lu Dahn would turn in the direction of Hannibal for the first time after leaving the Enforcer. So he wouldn't be aware that instead of the recovering minute Hannibal had been running this entire time. And on top of that he would be given the chance to initiate the spar. This was good for Hannibal as he'd be able to catch his breath a bit more. He'd put more distance between him and Lu Dahn. 'I'm 8'6"...Lu Dahn should be around 6' something. I have a height and reach advantage.' Hannibal would think to himself as he tried to figure out the fight style of Lu Dahn from his low stance. He would back peddle so that the gap between them would be increased. Making it become five feet. This would just put him out of his leg's range since his legs were 126.9cm. It would only take a little motion to get his legs in range. And since Hannibal primarily fought with his legs that was to his benefit. He'd unbuckle his sandals and remove them. After unbuckling and removing his sandals he'd begin to get into his own stance. His front toes pointed directly forwards, and he kept his back heels comfortably above the sand. He placed his left leg further back. Keeping his other foot basically in the same spot. His weight was not all over the place but rather evenly distributed between his two feet. Simultaneously his elbows would be tucked in, but he would not ball his fists and were up near his tucked chin. He usually didn't take his time to move into his stance for sparring. What he was doing was trying to wait a bit longer before actually fighting. The amount of time he spent getting read taking a total of twelve seconds.

'Maybe he is a grappler?' Hannibal thought to himself as he'd finally make his move. It wasn't to end the spar but to just to get Lu Dahn to do something. To show what he could actually do so the next approach from Hannibal could be more tailored to Lu Dahn and his fighting style. The attack was simple but held power within it, as he didn't want to hold back too much. That would disrespect Lu Dahn and could cause friction in their relationship. He'd dig his left foot a bit into the sand to keep his balance as he'd use his right leg to attempt to deliver a teep in the hip of Lu Dahn. Quickly raising his leg and thrusting it forward at Lu Dahn and then pulling it back and placing it down. This motion if used on a normal person would make easily contact due to the speed that Hannibal moved at. This fluid motion was to test Lu Dahn but also keep him at a distance, unless Lu Dahn knew of a way to counter Hannibal before the leg would be brought back. Though that was a possibility Hannibal was confident that he would be able to pull his leg back or adjust himself appropriately to deal with whatever Lu Dahn would do. If he was to do anything at all. How Hannibal kept his balance and kept his power even with the sandy surface. Was with how he went about his attack. Snapping his leg quickly and bringing it back to help stop any slipping from him pushing his hips forward. The only things he would have did better was with him jumping to administer the teep. Due to the size difference him swinging his arms, that helped swing his hips, wouldn't leave his face that open. As he should be able to get back into his stance before an attack from the face would come.

Lu Dahn was comfortable in his stance, but not in the least bit dormant. His senses were open and he was ready for what Hannibal would start the spar off with. The move one used to start a spar off usually said a lot about their personality. Was Uchis a tenacious man or one who played it safe and defensive?

He chose to play it safe and defensive much to Lu Dahn's expectations, but also disappointment. As the thrusted foot came towards Lu Dahn, the Commodore would react with a similar simplicity. The stance he was in favored powerful strikes that would originate from his own right side, for it was the side furthest from his foe. Similar to Hannibal's stance, Lu Dahn had his right leg as his back leg and his left leg as his forefront leg. Different from Hannibal, Lu Dahn's hands were in front of him, but out and not near his chin. This was because they needed to already be ready to serve as his shields against the Captain's range advantage. When the man's leg came in towards Lu Dahn's hip Lu Dahn would lash out with his own left hand in a karate chopping manner to strike the man's ankle before he could reach Lu Dahn's hip. This would not only hurt Hannibal, but also alter the path of the thrust to the outside of Lu Dahn's hip. Should the chop land, the Commodore wouldn't waste time to press off his back leg to advance forward. With this advancement his hands would naturally take a defensive form. Both opened slightly as if to catch whatever could be thrown. His left hand would linger down near his right hip, so his arm was crossing and effectively guarding his stomach area. His right would be crossing his body to other way. The slightly opened hand of this arm lingering in front of his left shoulder and the arm guarding more of his chest/upper torso.

He'd have used the push from his back leg to take an appropriate step forward with his left leg. Not wasting anytime with any of these actions, he'd push off the fresh step his left leg had taken to explode with upward force in the form of a jump that propelled him up and forward towards Hannibal. Spearheading this jump and adding force to it was the knee of his right leg. He'd have swung his hips to bring the knee around with powerful force in an attempt to knock Hannibal in his chin. "Yahhh!" He'd yell as he released the jumping knee strike.

'He has some power.' Was the thought that came into his mind from the response given to him by Lu Dahn. Hannibal's foot would not be able to find it's mark. Like originally planned he'd snap his foot back to get back into his original stance; but his stance had already been compromised from the ankle strike. His feet being wider apart than he wanted or loved them to be. If you were a normal guy watching the fight you'd just think this didn't matter. But, to Hannibal it throw him off quite a bit.

The actions that Lu Dahn would go with were swift and with no wasted movement. Hannibal kept his eyes on his opponent even with the strike earlier. The speed that Lu Dahn had was expected. Unlike Hannibal the Commodore seemed to be fiery. After the counter he was quick to apply pressure with a powerful knee strike. The intended location of the knee strike was to the chin of Hannibal. But, just how he had snapped his foot back his arms returned to their original stance position. Hannibal would simply back up to avoid the flashy move. Though he pushed off with his right leg just to move back and out of the way of the attack. Right after that, and not including the step back, he'd back peddling enough that he was still in reach. The exact amount of steps he took being three. A second before the push back he'd lean back almost in a similar manner he had done when he kicked, an added measure incase he wouldn't be able to avoid with the push back. He did it in a way that wouldn't compromise his balance but would keep himself away from the knee, even if by only a few inches. This was to keep himself in range but keep Lu Dahn out of his somewhat. As going for a block would've ended badly for Hannibal, unless it was his last resort effort. Is the best thing to do in a situation like this. Side stepping would've kept him too close to Lu Dahn, even with the Man airborne, and another strike could've come. Even if that may be unlikely Hannibal wouldn't put it past Lu Dahn. Hannibal needed to keep his distance so that his reach could be used more to his advantage.

With his new position, if it was a successful dodge, Hannibal jab forward with his lead hand, his right hand. Twice he'd lead with the jab before unlessing a straight left. The Jabs were aimed lower toward the chin of Lu Dahn. Whilst the straight would be much higher and toward the top of his head. It was weird why Hannibal would strike at the top of someone's head but it had a purpose. The strikes were fast and precise and came at the moment Lu Dahn would land back down. He did his best to move at his most optimal speed. Unless he could fly or had some other technique that kept him within the air longer. If that was the case and was the reason for the manoeuvre Hannibal would make appropriate adjustments to his approach after avoiding the knee.

Narrowly, only by a shy amount of space, Lu Dahn would miss his mark with his knee strike. The Commodore would suck his teeth at this, but all was still well. "Tch." The purpose of such an attack wasn't only to try his luck at striking the Captain with his first play, but also to close the gap the man would undoubtedly try to maintain throughout the course of the battle. When it came to those with longer limbs, they'd want to utilize these advantages by keeping their foe at the edge of their range. However, when one was able to infiltrate this circle of range they tried to sustain, these ranged fighters lost their edge and the fight wouldn't become even, but out of their favor. They couldn't gather as much snap in their blows when fights were in close quarters due to the length of their appendages and where their key joints like elbows and knees were. Those with shorter limbs could gather more snap from their blows when in close though, so naturally their blows would be stronger and more comfortable to execute.

While the Commodore could have employed Geppo to keep himself airborne and even unleash another assault on Hannibal as he was on his evasive front, Lu Dahn wanted to see the man act on the offensive. Furthermore, this spar was also for the sake of exercising. Should he have went and used his full-power right off the bat and tried to end the spar, it would have been just a selfish show of power. It also would potentially bruise the budding relationship with his Captain that he wished to water and let bloom into something he thought was beautiful. When the pugilist touched down onto the sand, he'd be welcomed with a combination of strikes from Hannibal.

For someone inexperienced this tempo change would have posed a serious threat for there was so much to worry about. Landing safely, gathering footing in sand, the oncoming onslaught, and one's next move. If your brain wasn't always ahead of the present in battles, one could never hope to see victory that wasn't attributed to luck or poor play on their opponents end. This is to say that Lu Dahn is not inexperienced. He was once a novice in hand to hand combat, but he's long since been a greenhorn. His foe was more than two whole feet taller than he was. While it has been a pressing matter that he has the range advantage, his height also serves to disadvantage him when in such close quarters. Not the snap he could gather from his blows, but the matter of the fact that he'd have to keep his focus so low while he battled at this intimate range.

With his landing he found balance in where his feet were which wasn't some unconventional stance, but a very standard and practical one that had space in between the feet. His right foot in front of the left, the right foot angled towards Uchis, the left very slightly angled outwards. Both his hands were in their previous places, but reversed and but balled into fist as Lu Dahn would see this fight was turning into something like boxing match. To Hannibal's first strikes, Lu Dahn didn't bother to move more than his upper body to avoid them. To the first right jab Lu Dahn leaned to his own right to let the jab swim by him harmlessly. When the arm came back into place it came right back. This time Lu Dahn would use his left hand that was near his right shoulder to assist with his dodge. As the jab came in, Lu Dahn's open left hand went out to try to slap the jab further to Lu Dahn's own right side as he swung his body over to the left before the jab was in his premises. The pressure of the press would be applied to the area right before the wrist, closer to the forearm.

What came next was the beginnings of a left straight should Hannibal have stuck to his guns. Due to Lu Dahn's weave to his own left, the straight would have more space to cross giving Lu Dahn more time than usual to react to it. What was better was that the strike was aimed at the higher area of Lu Dahn's head. A disorienting blow? The thought was just a thought and occupied an irrelevant amount of time as it shot through his brain. Irregardless of this forefront thought, his subconscious that was reigned by his experience piloted his body and would make him perform a deft sidestep to his own left, but also forward closer to Hannibal's right hip. This made the straight have an even further stretch to pull off and it put Lu Dahn out of the pathway of a quick knee strike, since the man's knees were so much closer to Lu Dahn's body than a normal person's were.

With no time wasted, his right fist that was down near his left hip had slightly reeled back to its respective hip. Due to his sidestep, his right hip and Uchis' right hip were now on the same horizontal plane as each other though obviously Uchis' hip was higher placed due to the man's physiology. Nonetheless, as the Captain's straight was still sailing if he continued to commit to it, Lu Dahn would have executed what could be called something akin to a right hook at Hannibal's gut. There'd be little space to travel, but this is where that snap advantage would come in handy. With shorter limbs, he needed less leverage and less space for his strikes than a longer limbed opponent would.

His intentions were to get Lu Dahn to make a mistake. Something that would allow Hannibal to get the upper hand. As his height was showing to not truly be the biggest advantage he thought it once was. That did not mean he would let that advantage falter. Even though it wasn't the best it could be it still was useful. Hannibal tried to put himself into Lu Dahn's shoes after his first counter, the ankle chop. If Hannibal was Lu Dahn breaking down the bigger opponent when he left himself open was ideal. And that was the purpose of the straight.

As the first jab would flow passed his right. That was expected and Hannibal felt the same would happen with the second. But no. He did something that would make Hannibal reconsider his next action. This fight wasn't one that you could just go crazy in and stay the way you are. Even in the early showings adapting and altering yourself was key. And with it being a spar there was no real problem with this, as there was no real danger of dying if you messed up. Or losing something that you were protecting; unless pride of losing anything was something you always had on the line. The amount of exchanges the two had didn't even come close to how much they were thinking of the best way to do a certain action. Well, that was what hannibal felt for himself. And while in the moment his true self would be revealed. To allow himself a quicker analyzation of the body of Lu Dahn his third eye would emerge. It was not hidden in anyway anymore, and Hannibal was somewhat unaware of who he was revealing this to. He did have Lu Dahn's stance on the whole Three eye'd tragedy; but he did not known how Lu Dahn would actually react to being around someone from that clan.

After as he pulled his second jab back he would bounce back, to increase the space between the two of them. And as he landed back he would lower himself and take a entirely different stance. Being now in a upright natural posture. He was now going to stop being on the offensive and allow his opponent  to come to him. He would land in this position as he was ready to react to anything mid bounce back. If he would be allowed to land before anything his knees would be slightly bent. Looking at the waist mainly of Lu Dahn as he centered his head over his hips head centered. Keeping his feet directly below the hips and about shoulder width apart.

As Lu Dahn slipped passed both jabs, Hannibal again attempted to put space between himself and the Commodore. Was this truly his style of fighting? Either he was looking to keep space between Lu Dahn and himself so he could use his range to his advantage, or he was looking to tire Lu Dahn out. Throw a few blows to keep him from recovering his stamina then retreat to the outside where he could exhaust Lu Dahn further by throwing more attacks the Commodore would have to evade. Regardless Lu Dahn wasn't impressed in the least bit and he began to doubt if this was a spar worth fighting.

Meekly he'd allow Hannibal to slip out of his range and fall back, but he wouldn't stay in Hannibal's range himself. As Captain Uchis jumped back, Lu Dahn would too, to put 3m between them. "Is fleeing all you're capable of Uchis?" The Commodore teased with a haughty smirk before he noticed the third eye manifested on Hannibal's forehead. Lu Dahn had currently been the only one pursuing and chasing. His words were a mental jab to goad Hannibal to do something out of his element to prove otherwise, but they also communicated Lu Dahn's irritation with the constant fleeing. If that was the man's fighting style, then so be it, but Lu Dahn couldn't say he was a fan.

"Hm . . . We'll have to speak about this later." He pushed the thought to the back of his mind and continued to work on his exercise.

In hand to hand fighting, it was a lot like chess, but live action. You had to read what the opponent was trying to accomplish with each play that came, be a step ahead of it, then cut them off in their tracks with a play of your own. The plays were entering their beginning stages, but were never allowed to fully unfold due to the fleeing. Perhaps this was a tactic to stop Lu Dahn from gaining momentum and finding his tempo.

Just as his Captain adopted a new stance, Lu Dahn would too. He wanted to keep Hannibal's eyes low, since he was naturally tall. For that reason he'd take a defensive counter based stance. Both his arms would be tucked in near his chest and vertical with the backs of the fist facing Hannibal while in front of his face, but not covering his eyes. It was like peek-a-boo stance, but with fist. Coupled with this his body was scrunched down and his knees were bent more than they were perviously. From here his weaving would be at its best and his torso and part of his face were defended. " I have no issue chipping you down piece by piece if so." Just as he finished speaking, he'd make use of his Soru to close in the shallow gap between the two fighters. For only a fraction of a second he'd appear of Hannibal's left side, behind where his legs could extend to hit him but still close to that hip.

Just as quickly as he would pause there, he'd throw a quick hook to the pocket below Hannibal's ribs and above the hip bone. Here is where strike would be most effective. Should it connect or not, Lu Dahn would Soru once more to behind Uchis' albeit on his right and throw a jab at the back of his thigh. Then once more he'd Soru, but not onto the ground. Above Uchis. This is where keeping the Captain's eyes low would benefit him. For in that instant, Lu Dahn would snap up and to the back of Uchis' left side. There he'd thrust his foot out to try to connect with the side of Uchis' head with his heel. All these strikes would be performed as if they were just a combination, for it was. It was just performed at different locations and angles, to take advantage of the height advantage. The two beginning strikes were setups for the last and final one. Either of those two landing heightened the chance of Lu Dahn locking Hannibal in a stun of pain for just moment so he could exploit it to the max.

"Is looking up to me all you can do?" It wasn't the best comeback in the world; but the quickest retort that Hannibal could come up with after hearing Lu Dahn speak to him in such a way. The dig at him did get underneath Hannibal's skin slightly. It didn't cause him to waver or get flustered at all but it wasn't something simply overlooked. Having to strike down at Lu Dahn was annoying and a bit out of his element. In real combat and from here on out. If Hannibal was to face off against smaller opponents he would have to create something to deal with them without overstretching himself. Evolving and Adapting was what Hannibal was going to do.  Lu Dahn would only confirm he was going with chopping Hannibal down with his words.

Lu Dahn had finally shown a glimpse of his true abilities. A Rokushiki specialist. No normal person has the capability to do such a thing or even see it. The movement usually making the user appear as if they were vanishing or a blur. But, for Hannibal with his third eye and increased perception he could see it. Only thing truly allowing this being Lu Dahn not be leagues and above Hannibal in speed; if that was the case and Hannibal was as he was now being able to react to anything Lu Dahn would do might be impossible. That was not the case now at all.  Hannibal fought with a style somewhat similar but only in the sense of leg usage. The strength needed to kick so many times was beyond that of any normal person. At one point Hannibal learned the basic of the style but it just wasn't for him.

Lu Dahn would appear to his left. Once again he positioned himself out of the reach of Hannibal's legs. He still was within range of Lu Dahn's hands. He'd swipe but that wouldn't be successful, due to arriving too late. The hook making contact. Followed by the second strike. Finally, the third would lade and the force from the attack would send Hannibal face first into the sand.

With the first phase of combo landing, came the second and most important strike of the combo. As the heel dug into Hannibal's cranium, Lu Dahn pushed hard, but not too hard, it was just a spar. This push was to shove the man into the ground and it had succeeded. Lu Dahn would land and jump back once, then once more to put space between Hannibal and himself. In total 5m now resided between them and from there Lu Dahn would call out conceitedly to his inferior officer. "As my Captain and for your race. Can you say you're showing well Uchis?" Lu Dahn had jumped back to the point that the large rocks that were passed the foot of the cove were to Lu Dahn's right, left, and back.

With how things were currently going, the rocks would compliment Lu Dahn's fighting style well and further dampen Hannibal's. Of course they worked to cut maneuverability, but they'd also halt the ranged attacks that were Hannibal's legs, while allowing Lu Dahn to slip around the rocks and find openings. That in mind, he jumped back once more and this time got some air with his jump. His eyes were on Hannibal all the while and he'd land atop a 5ft flat topped boulder. Now in front of him to his right and left were two large boulders that were each 6ft in height and had substantial mass. With 7m of space between them Lu Dahn wanted to see how Hannibal would act. It was evident the Commodore had no interest nor need to advance and press offense more. It was no Hannibal's time to try to show the Commodore he wasn't as worthless as he was making out to be. Is this really the same man that filled me with such intense emotion? Hannibal was failing to reach his expectations.Sure they were high, but not higher than realistically possible for the Captain to reach. Show me there's more to you Uchis.

This was a inferior display of skill Hannibal has produced in a extremely long time. Outmatched in so almost all categories by his Superior. Being a former Commodore himself the thought of being only outclassed in rank was the impression Hannibal held. But, the brief exchange between the two Officers told a different tale. Relying simply on a advantage that he believed would ensure him some form of leverage in this bout was the main failure of Hannibal. Even with this not being something that was a competition not yielding even a challenge made this entire sparring session pointless and a waste of time. Being stuffed into the dirt like he was, was befitting of Hannibal. The bare knuckled truth was as he currently was he was no match for Lu Dahn, even within a sparring setting.

'Raise your head.'
Mentally Hannibal spoke to himself. As he would do so. Firmly placing his hands out to his side he would quickly push upward aftwards. Hands full of sand. He pushed himself to fight through the pain that still lingered. 'Keep going.' Hannibal would begin to spit the amount of sand that was within his mouth out and onto the ground below him. 'Get to your feet, now!' He'd scramble to his feet. Usually, when he realized he had opened his third eye he would close it soon after. Not one to enjoy the stigma that came with being a part of his race; even if he cared and held pride in them. Lu Dahn didn't seemed to speak harshly in anyway about it. And if he closed it he would be stopping himself from trully tapping into his potential and showing what he could overcome. And for this spar he would not let anything shackle any longer. It wasn't about coming out on top at this point. Hannibal planned to not settle for what he knew wasn't his best.

Hannibal knew a couple of things now and would take a small amount of time to truly set his mind right. The fighting style that Lu Dahn had was rokushiki. He knew this from the usage of Soru. So, he could assume Lu Dahn was at least capable of utilising the other techniques within that style. If he had any personalised moves with rokushiki also wasn't know.  Lu Dahn, just as Hannibal, did show to have different stages that they took. Hannibal also knew that Lu Dahn didn't always use it(Rokushiki) to serve in his advantage all the time with this being a sparring match. As he could've used the moved known as Geppo to keep himself airborne when he missed his flying knee. Kami-e also wasn't used when Lu Dahn avoided the strikes of Hannibal. The Man was fast and response to a level that he probably didn't need to use it to avoid the strikes. Hannibal would look around shifting his eyes side to side. He kept his third though up and at Lu Dahn. This just to give himself a quick rundown on where he was at right now and also keep tabs on Lu Dahn. Something else that Hannibal noticed was how his legs hadn't been really a factor in this entire fight, well for him. Lu Dahn had only truly been in position once for a clean kick, but he blocked it. After that Lu Dahn did not allow himself to be positioned anywhere that could lead with him getting kicked in anyway. Hannibal, during the spar, had thought using his legs would just hinder him when it was the opposite. He strayed away from his bread and butter because of one check. Even now the spot he was in favored Lu Dahn.

'Move.' Hannibal would tell himself as he'd push straight forward. Unlike before he had a strong push off the sand, as if he had kicked off more solid ground. Something also to note is that he also didn't have his hands up, but rather had his entire upper body relaxed. Each step was a cold reminder of the flaws Hannibal had let consume him as he moved. The hardness from them showing his new found solid determination for this spar. He only needed a few steps in before he'd leap forward as he was airborne he'd toss the sand he had in his fists forward. So that he could also relax his hands. Even though they went directly in the direction of Lu Dahn their purpose wasn't to blind him. Even though it could be considered a underhanded trick. Hannibal had confidence Lu Dahn would move out of the way fo the attack easily. But, regardless of if he did or not while airborne and moving forward Hannibal would quickly strike out with his left leg. Having enough strength to do his strike in mid-air. If he would miss the attack would land right onto the boulder that Lu Dahn had perched on. The force alone enough to send cracks through the rock before breaking it. If it landed or if it did Hannibal would notice something was off about his leg, as it was blue. As if covered in ice. He was told a long time ago that some practicanors of the Black leg Style could summon great passion and fire in their hearts would come to life. Though Hannibal didn't have fire the Ice must be showing that he truly was getting stronger and his passion ran deep.

Slowly but surely, the beat down man built himself back up. A faint smile slid onto Lu Dahn's visage at this. Did Uchis have more to showcase. Perhaps he was the type that needed to be kicked around a bit before they really bared their fangs. The Commodore would be finding out very soon given how fast the Captain approached him. He was quick like a manic, but still he had composure in how he closed in on Lu Dahn. It seemed he was blooming before the Commodore's very eyes. However, Lu Dahn didn't get his hopes up just yet.

With his analytical mind and eyes that were trained to make him a reputable marksman, you'd think the sand in the hand trick was seen through. Lu Dahn had a bad habit of getting comfortable when his foes were down and counting his chickens far before they hatched. He was planning to intercept Hannibal's advance by cutting to his own right, then darting back to flank the airborne Uchis from the side. Just as the man lifted off though, his hands slung forward and a spread of sand peppered him and successfully got in his eyes. Many would call it underhanded, but on the battlefield, but even as a man of class and regality, Lu Dahn believed what made you win, made you win.

His stupor of superiority had caused hesitation in his idle arms coming up to guard his face from the sand. He learned instantly that the victor had yet to be determined in that moment however. Soon as the sand entered his eyes, his arms rose up vertically to guard his face, and he performed a shallow jump backwards. He hadn't examined enough of the battlefield to have a precise mental map in his mind. If he had paid more attention to detail, he could have maybe jumped further back to a rock that was a small ways away. A safer zone.

Nonetheless, he could only hope Uchis' target was the boulder he stood atop of. If the Captain had predicted Lu Dahn's response, he would be in severe trouble for he had no clue where the blow would land. Hitting the sand with his feet, he was a bit unstable at first, but he quickly found his footing and heard Uchis' strike collide with the boulder in front of him. If the man struck the stone with more force the rubble might have blasted in every which way resulting in Lu Dahn getting showered in a hail of rubble.

Changing the environment to one with obstructions dotted around the land was now a mistake, for he couldn't move freely to escape Hannibal while he was temporarily blinded from the sand. How would he defend himself? He could hear the sound of the ocean waves breaching upon land about 15m behind him. That or time alone would be his only salvation from the ailment he was suffering which was blindness.

Relying on his ears to track Uchis, he'd remain silent, not even daring to think too hard in fear of missing a noise that could give away Uchis' whereabouts and actions.

Hannibal did not expect the sand throw to land, not at all. But with that development he had to capitalize on it. His kick had came down at a angle when it made contact with the boulder. If more power was administered the rubble would've flew out. Nothing really flew as the boulder would be cased in ice. Hannibal would land to the side of the boulder after his kick took out a large portion of the top. He took only seconds to move around and to the side Lu Dahn had jumped backwards to. There was a small gap between Hannibal and Lu Dahn. 'Move.' Hannibal would take no time to push forward once again. And as he moved forward he'd see the sand particles on the face of Lu Dahn. Hannibal now seeing that the sand attack had went through, or if it really did. Hannibal was under the impression that Lu Dahn had just let the attack gone through or was playing it off as if it did.

It only took a few steps, two, before Hannibal's leg's were within their range. And when within range he'd lash out with a more structured kick. It was usually aimed at the head but for right now he'd just use it to strike the left side of Lu Dahn. It was quicker to strike lower than higher, and Hannibal was getting the feeling he should try his best to not let Lu Dahn breathe. Letting up and having Lu Dahn have his way being not in the best interest of Hannibal at all. It strike came from his right leg, and if contact was made it'd snapback. With the icy substance on Hannibal's leg gaining his footing would not be a problem and unless a kick from the opposite leg would be follow, albeit aimed higher. The first, if contact was made, would hit the center of Lu Dahn's rib cage. Whilst the second would hit the shoulder of Lu Dahn.

From here on out confidence would be within every attack of Hannibal. Even if he believed Lu Dahn had all the needed things to avoid the strike. And even if his attacks wouldn't land the changing of this environment, in the long run, would serve to Hannibal's advantage. The coldness from everything his feet touched loomed around and would spread with each step.
