"So I guessed right, the loss of the queen piece, means your defeat." Kouse said as Victoria explained the importance of the piece. He had expected the King piece to be the most important, but surprisingly, it turned out to be the queen.
Kouse adjusted his glasses as he kept on listening intently to what Victoria had to say, but instead of her talking on, she made her move, moving her pawn from D2 to D4.
He kept on looking at the board, looking at each piece, identifying each one and taking note of how they could each move. Making a mental map on the countless possibilities that could be played on the board.
Then Victoria began finally explaining on how to capture a piece.
Apparently, the game represents a war, Kouse had thought of that previously with the names of some of the pieces but hadn't thought much about it, and how she could 'capture' his C5 pawn with her D4 pawn.
Kouse adjusted his glasses as he moved his C5 pawn, to the D4 square, knocking over Victoria's pawn and replacing hers with his, taking her pawn off of the board and placing it to the side.
"I believe, that's how to do it?" Kouse asked as he looked straight at Victoria.
He couldn't have developed the ability to see two-four moves ahead in his first time playing chess. So he couldn't have known, that in fact by taking down her pawn, he was falling into a trap.
