"Act I"

It's the thrill in the end. In that moment when something stolen becomes mine or is it? That's the bliss I desire.

As Jackal laid unconscious, chained to the walls of the Royal Palace jail cell, a single ember flickered in the distance. His cell was in the basement of the Palace, and it's cold and dank stench ambience reminded him even further about his days as a slave on Drum. He'd remember it vividly, his last days on Zou, after finally making a name for himself with the Day Guard, well on his way to be a potential Musketeer when slave advocators arrived on Zou. It was per chance, and after injuring the Day Time Leader, Wazu, it wasn't anything left but conflict, as Mink's of all ages partook in this war. In act to cover his Father's Back, Helios was abducted and began his days as the Royalty on Drum's Dog. The kind of soreness that penetrated the depths of any slumber, the gentle warmth his natural coating gave in these conditions felt akin to a sparsely buttoned fur coat, and the ever lingering feeling of being both emotionally, and physically broken. The only difference between his time then and now, was Jackal's perspective. After being freed by Gin, travelling on the seas had given him a confidence that couldn't have been erased by one defeat, if anything the feeling in heart was one of appreciation for his lost to Jin.

Helios had learned that his current weakness was his inability of feeling comfortable being struck by humans, and his overt nature of pulling punches when striking. To overcome this mental wall, that was Jackal's next goal. It'd been one week since the kidnapping had occurred, Jin had pled with the Nobility to allow him to save his Sister, and with the Death of a Prince, Jackal was holding the blame for this all. Though, the security was light, there was only one way into the basement and one way out, and that through a large staircase which leads to a giant caged area which is their personal cell. Luckily, no one in the world had known of Jackal's 'little devil' issue, so his restraints were ordinary iron chains, attached to his neck, legs and arms, hanging his appendages outward, to display him as a rag doll for all those who'd visit to see.

Every now and again, and occasional Noble would come to gawk at him, never seeing a Minksman in their life, Jackal was sure it was an interesting sight. To avoid any questioning, he'd simply kept his eyes clothes, though, to be honest, they were swollen any way from the pummelling Jin administered in hopes of dragging information out of the Mink. Jackal genuinely didn't know anything about the kidnapping but the throne had lost three things on this day that made Jackal be the martyr for these actions. One, without him to blame, the members of the Royal Court who were involved in the abduction plot would be under investigation, two, a direct kin of the Princess deceased Husband was abducted, and an attempt on her life was made. Finally, a rare Devil Fruit had gone missing with the kidnappers in the chaos. It was his shit luck of drawing the most odd combination of cards in life but this resting period was simply to escape this palace eventually, preferably before local marines arrived on the scene.

In the distance, he'd hear the door at the top of the staircase open, he couldn't see who it was but the room had a habit of echoing far away sounds and footsteps, and with his hearing, he'd definitely should be able know if someone was approaching. He'd half open his left eye, leaving his right one firmly fastened, waiting to catch a glimpse of who it was from his dimly lit veil in the darkness, if it was someone he'd want to speak with, his eyes would remain open, if it wasn't he'd continue pretending to be asleep. No ordinary person would have access to this area, so whoever it was, it was certainly someone valued by the crown. The cell was twenty meters wide, fifteen meter in length and Jackal stayed hoisted three feet off the ground, twenty feet away from the cell's ceiling, and four meters from the cell's bars. They were no adjacent cells, and the only person imprisoned in the cell was him and after being awake and alone about two hours prior, when he'd scanned the cell, this one man band hadn't changed. Meaning, if anyone was on route to his location, he'd be alone in his strides, whether positive of negative in nature.

Kappa
A grey cloaked figure trailed the pair of royal guards through the palace. The place had just stopped being a battle zone a short while ago, and there was still a frantic energy in the air. It helped him move unnoticed through the royal home. A black eye peeked through a pair of great doors and into the room yonder. It spyed a familiar furry face, that had become rather less familiar due to some sort of trauma. Had that shapeshifting creature done this to him? Gil decided that he may as well see what state he was in before he left. If he needed first aid then he could provide it. The two guards marched past glittering gold and jewels and stood over the mink. They hoisted his limp body up between them and would cart him back towards the double doors Gil was hiding behind. Stepping back, he would dart up the wall and into a shadowy corner of the rafters. A proficiency for stealth was a useful skill to have in his arsenal. It was usually easier to avoid a fight rather than to face it.

He would track them to the room where a squad of guards stood outside. It looked like this was a popular place to be. Overhearing the conversation, this was clearly the storage for prisoners. Apparently there had been a few other suspicious types that had been captured during the event, and it sounded like some were going to be stored in the basement level, awaiting 'forceful interrogation'. But for Jackal on the other hand, he was going to be kept on the higher level, as he would be something that would make for a 'good show' for the nobility. The twisted whims of humans perplexed him to no end. Gil decided that he would let them take him for now, as it sounded like no further harm would come to him. He didn't want to take on a full squad, and he certainly didn't want to be under pressure of dragging an unconcious person out of the city with a whole army on his tail. He decided to retreat for now, and look for his chance.
_______
--later--

He had managed to arm himself with water from the palace resevoir that he had already visited once that day. He slipped back into the area of the prison, with water with a volume of a sphere of 20m radius compressed into a thin shell around his body using nothing but the power of his wiggling butt cheeks. Keeping high, he would creep up on the two guards who stood either side of the door. He would descend on them, dropping down between them and grabbing their faces, a small burst spray of water from his elbows adding to his thrust speed and strength. He would hold them up against the wall, pushing the water around his hands over their faces, holding them there with the strength of his kata. They would feel intense panic, like being rolled about helplessly by raging surf as the water would push against their faces. Gil would hold them there for two minutes, waiting for both of their bodies to go limp. He would drop them, reforming his kata shape and then smacking them each in the gut so that excess water they had inhaled would be ejected. He had decided that this was the quietest and least harmful way that he could disable them.

Gil would then enter the prison, slide down the stairs and start looking for Jackal. He kept his wits about him, constantly scanning the area for others. It was dim in there, the mood lighting adding to the dungeon theme. Gil appreciated that the interior design kept consistent with what he would expect from a historical site such as this. The cell he was looking for was easy to find despite this, Gil walking up to the bars and peering in to see his mink acquaintance chained up to the wall. "In chains again eh? I didn't realise you had a thing for being domesticated, Mr Kinky Mink." Gil would croak, seeing if the inappropriate and antagonising question would get a response. He was worried at the state of Jackal though.

Gil would press his index finger up to the lock on the cell door, letting water flow into it and then condensing it, mimicing a solid key. He would then turn it to unlock it and swing the door open. He would do the same for his shackles if Jackal allowed it, and help lower him to the floor. "You're too reckless for your own good. What were you doing here?" Gil would mutter before whipping out the medical supplies he had taken with him from the clinic. Should Jackal allow it, or not respond, Gil would dab out some disinfectant onto some cloth and mop up his face. He would then pull out a thin needle and stitch some of the bigger cuts back together with a few flicks of his wrist.

"Act I"

It's the thrill in the end. In that moment when something stolen becomes mine or is it? That's the bliss I desire.

The Mink's hoisted body lowered from his position three feet off the ground to touch the surface of the cold mucky and palace floor. Sensation alone forced his only functional left eye completely open to reveal before him the darkly cloaked, green scale skinned Fishman. "Easy on the landing there scales." Jackal said, upon arriving to the floor. No longer having the chains to support him, Jackal's body was going to collapse onto the floor, until colliding with Kappa's body. If he'd permit it, he'd prop on the Fishman as he'd lost temporarily the feeling of his legs after being suspended for so long. "Shishishi... If only this was by choice Scales." Jackal retorted to Kappa's comment about enjoying being chained up. "Only reason they hoisted me up in the first place was so Jin could've landed clean blows on me." Jackal stated smirking, barely able to muster up a grin with his swollen jaws and dilated eyes. Any medicinal care that Kappa would offer Jackal, he'd accept the treatment as his wounds were festering over the last few days with little attention to them at all, it wasn't like he was the most favourable character in Alabasta. "I wasn't even planning on fighting. I came here to scout the Treasury. Little did I know Alabasta's Bat- Bull-man was lurking around the corner to pummel my furry ass." Jackal said, chuckling momentarily before stopping to clutch at his ribs. Turning his face to the direction away from Kappa, he'd spit out the accumulated saliva and blood from his swollen jaw to so his speech wouldn't become slurred. "What about you Kappa? What brings you to this place... aside to saving this Unlucky Mink?" Jackal inquired, wincing at every touch of the disinfectant that Kappa was rubbing on his wounds, especially those on his face.

Meanwhile in the hallway, the two passed out guards at the top of the staircase were discovered. Shouts throughout the Palace gave alarm to the situation, "There's a break in the hold'! Send reinforcements!" one of the soldiers shouted. At the entrance to the basement, they were only two guards total on patrol at the time, one running to alarm the others and remaining to prevent the intruders potential escape. The section of the palace that Jackal and Kappa were located was situated in the West Wing, meaning if they could make to the outside, they'd be able to escape through the foyer area to the main garden, where the scene of the kidnapping had took place, and ironically, the only official exit of this whole compounds layout. Sitting in the Throne Room, the two mourning Princes sat in silence. "I can't believe he died. I raise him to be stronger than that!" one of the Princes shouted. "It makes no sense brother... We need to inform the people. With the state of the Nobles now... Our brother was loved by the people... It'd only be seemed as foul play if we kept it quiet. That's I told you! We must blame this all on the Monster Man, that blasted Mink! Have him served up into a bed of scorpions!" the other Prince shouted. The Eldest Brother raised his hand to cease the middle brother's pleas, "Enough. Our Father would never permit us to blame a man we have no evidence was connected to the kidnapping. If Jin worked him over and he didn't admit to anything... It means he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. After being beaten for three days straight, the only words he murmured were, 'Assume what you want.' with that stupid smirk." the Eldest Brother stated. "It must be the Court... Nefertiti is devastated. We have guards on her room... I hope she doesn't try anything too foolish. We'll need her moving forward in clearing up what happened." the Eldest Brother concluded. Within moments, the news of the situation in the basement was reported to the Princes. Clutching his hand around his deceased Brother's Crook, "I'll go!" the middle brother said, lunging from his position towards the main hallway. "Wait!" the Eldest Brother shouted, realising his pleas were pointless he went into a sigh.

"Please, call me Gilbard or Gil for short. I'm a doctor, but Kappa is... Someone else." On this surface world, it was much easier to live as Gil than it was to be Kappa, the zealous acolyte of the sea. He felt the distinction was neccesary for his own peace of mind, even if Jackal wouldn't be able to know his background. It wasn't such a serious thing as a split personality, but rather simply two aspects of himself that  Kappa often only came out in times of high stress, like the time that they had fought Jack Frost for the first time.

"I've been an unofficial nurse in the palace clinic for a few weeks. So I'm just doing my job by helping you out. But we'll have time for stories later." Gil finished up cleaning Jackal's wounds and stitching him up. He could help him more, but not in a place like this. Not getting caught and thrown into a prison and tortured for days on end was the preferrable end to today. He could hear shouts and the heavy footsteps of guards mobilising on the other side of the door upstairs. They must have found the bodies.

"Wait here for a second." Gil would step away from the mink and look up at the ceiling of the prison. It was thick stone, however it wasn't the clean solid marble that was layered through the palace halls, this was some cobbled together bedrock and would be much weaker. He would then jump up to the ceiling, using his kata to propel himself up in a geppo like fashion. He would then cover his hand down to his elbow in busoshoku haki, the dark black colour reinforcing his skin. While hovering up at the ceiling, he would shake his haki covered hand into a straight edge and begin smacking the roof with the tips of his fingers. The shell of water would also help protect him, as well as providing a super dense weapon to smash into the stone. He would use his kata to accelerate his hand back and forth by dispersing fine spray from his elbow and then his fingers to create a jack-hammer type effect, smacking the stone ceiling in rapid succession.

Shouts were coming from up the stairway as guards had got together and were beginning to descend down towards them. A large crack in the ceiling had formed by this point, and this is where Gil changed tact. He would force some water into the crack and then release control of it temporarily. This would cause it to suddenly expand, giving the same effect that miners had when they used explosives. The crack would expand, shattering the stone ceiling into a weak spot. "Stop! Prisoner!" The sound of the guards were getting closer. One more try at the expanding water trick, and a crevice a few metres wide would open in the roof, with large chunks of debris falling on top of Gil. He would soon brush them off with the strength of his haki and kata. "Time to go." He would pick up Jackal and give him a piggy back if he gave his consent, before hopping up through the hole by kicking at the air.

The reason he had chosen such a destructive backroute for escape was for the simple idea of avoiding the guards. Most of the palace guards would have been on their way to the prison at that point, and were on their way down the staircase. In the mean time, Gil and Jackal would travel upward, leaving them on the lower floor with a clear path ahead. From here, he would accelerate forward, skating on the water on the bottom of his feet like a rocket powered rollerblader. He would support Jackal on his back with his non haki hand and balance with the other.

The pair would be able to travel through the palace for the first thirty seconds without conflict. They would pass by servants and nobility but it seemed like guards in this area had been displaced for whatever reason. Gil's objective was not to find a doorway, but to find a window to the outside. "Hey, you there! Stop!" Turning a corner, finally some resistance would appear. Gil would keep going toward them, and just before meeting them, he would suddenly push off and jump sideways through a window and into the city of Alubarna below. He would hold up his haki hand in front of Jackal's face to shield him from any broken glass. For a few seconds, the pair would be in free fall in the Sandy Island capital. Gil would then begin slowing their descent with emissions of spray, like he was running down an invisible staircase to bring them in amongst the dense housing. People would be able to see the pair from afar, but it wouldn't be hard to escape their eyes once they were on the ground and away from the palace. Here they could find respite for a while and decide what to do next. Gil would release the haki from his and and let Jackal dismount. "This wasn't exactly what I meant when I said to 'come find me', by the way." He croaked.

After accepting the Fishman's offer to be carried, most of the escape was like blur to the Mink, as he'd still been exhausted from the injuries he'd sustained from not only the torture but fighting Jin. As the duo free fell into the housing area below the Palace, the Prince who was mere seconds behind was too late stop the duo from fleeing the scene. Landing among a series of densely spaced houses, only about one meter or so separating them, Jackal was beginning to regain a bit of feeling in his legs, and hopped off Gilbard's back, planting his feet firm onto Desert's City's stone tiles. "It seems that trouble has a habit of finding me." Jackal retorted to Gil's statement about coming to find him. Wobbling a bit for the first few steps, Jackal had finally regained his footing. "Our next move will be to get out of the Capital. I have a contact in Nanohana that'd be perfect for a regroup on getting off this Sand Rock. Besides... If I stay here too long they're will be more old flames coming to say 'hi'." Jackal stated, shooting Gil a devilish grin. Following the street they were currently on Southern bound, Jackal would use the lesser streets to maneuver through the city. If Gil would follow him, he'd pretty much follow the path he'd used prior to inspect the outskirts of the Palace, making their way to an area just about ten meters South-East from the Clock Tower's Town Square. A series of carrier pigeons descended from the palace, each carrying notices to the neighbouring towns and local Alubarna business about Jackal's escape and his crimes against the Crown. Continuing south, he'd eventually arrive to an old familiar face, grinning at the Mink as he approached. It was Amalia, the five foot five Desert Charterer who'd escorted Jackal to the Capital City. "I had a feeling if I waited here long enough you'd show up on this road. It was the street we took before our last departure. I heard you went and got stomped by our National Hero. I told you'd loose." Amalia commented, sticking out her tongue playfully at the Minksman. Shifting her eyes towards Gil's direction, the woman would inspect the man's stature from head to toe, "Whose yer' friend? He looks a bit green, is he okay?" Amalia asked. "Shishishi well that's a bit rude... He can't help his own complexion. He's a Fishman after all." Jackal retorted grinning with pride. "Anyway... Enough chit-chat. We're kind of wanted men. Are you helping us escape?" Jackal inquired, stretching as he'd still feel quite broken up.

"I told you, that goodbye you gave me was rubbish. Let's get out of here. I managed to snag a few Spotted Ducks for a swift escape." Amalia stated. "What happened to the Giant Crab!?" Jackal inquired in shock. "I can't risk him getting hurt from canon-fire. Smaller targets, easier escape no?" Amalia rhetorical stated. The now trio would continue South for about ten meters before stumbling upon three Spotted Ducks, tied to the railing of a doorstep. Each duck had it's own character trait, one with a black beret that's always caring a series look, the next had on a helmet with goggles on it's forehead and the final duck wore a patterned red and white scarf wrapped around his neck. Grinning, Jackal walked over to the scarf fashionista that was the duck, released it from it's restraints, attempting to mount the giant duck like a horse. If successful, he'd look over his shoulder at Gil and Amalia, ready for the next adventure ahead. In the distance, a flock of almost two hundred guards advanced to his position.

The pair had made their escape from the castle, but they still weren't out of the woods yet. Gil spotted a flock of pigeons being released from the palace, and their flight off to all the corners of the city. "It couldn't be..." A pigeon flew in their direction, flying low overhead. Gil jumped up into the air, still wiggling his but cheeks, and plucked the pigeon out of midair. He would take the scroll tied to its claw and read it aloud. "Warrant for arrest. Due to the involvement in the attack against the crown. Wanted, alive." It would then go on to give a brief description of jackal and mention that he had escaped with the assistance of an unknown cloaked individual. This was turning into a serious scandal. Thankfully it looked like his identity was still concealed for now. He wished they had a little while to rest for Jackal's sake but they couldn't afford to waste any time. He would follow Jackal to meet Amalia while still keeping his kata up.

Upon meeting the woman, he would give a little bow from the hip before reverting to his wound tight upright posture, his hands clasped behind his back. "My name is Gil. It's a pleasure." He would follow them over to three large ducks, the sort he had seen other people use for travelling through the desert on. He had never ridden one himself and felt a little nervous at the prospect. Gil would mount the one with the black beret and attempt to get comfortable on the creature's back. He did have great balance, but the position felt unnatural. He started off with his hands around the duck's neck, attempting to steer him like a joystick. After a belligerent quack and a sharp peck, he changed his grip to the feathers around the top of his body instead. He was concerned about the duck coping with his weight. But regardless of whether he was ready or not, soon enough they were off.

Trotting through the street, Gil would be bouncing along at the back of the pack, pulling a bit too hard on the duck's feathers. "I'm afraid it looks like our mutual friend has got himself caught up in something rather serious this time. They're sending out flocks of pigeons with his description. I even saw some fly off in the direction of other towns. It will be hard for him to escape further persecution now thanks to his obvious non human form. If whatever happened is considered a serious offense against the royal family of Alabasta then it is likely that he won't be safe anywhere on the island." The Alabastian kingdom was a wealthy one, and if this was a personal issue with royalty itself, then there would be a large expenditure of resources dedicated to apprehending Jackal. Gil was worried that even if they escaped the capital city, they wouldn't find peace.

"It sounds like you might have to get off the island for a bit then while you decide what to do next." Amalia would raise her voice, directing the statement at Jackal. "And if you are looking for a way off the island, then your best bet is to find a ship in the harbour south of Nanohana. Since I've come this far, I may as well show you the way." Gil wouldn't answer, instead wondering where Jackal had found such a useful friend. He then wondered if maybe he should put more effort into making friends. "Let's pick up the pace!" The woman said, surging ahead, her duck quacking in agreement. Despite his rider's uncertainty, the black beret wearing duck would also pick up speed, not wanting to fall behind.

Five minutes of flying through the streets after Amalia, Gil was beginning to get used to the coordination required to ride the duck properly. By this point, they had cleared the dense residential area and were flying down the main road toward the southern gate. They had to make a break for it at some point, and it was now or never. They had already run past a few guards who had called out to them. Civilians scattered to the side of the street, clamouring to get out of the way of the three outlaws. Gil tucked his hood securely down over his head and secured it. The great wall around Alubarna was coming into view as well as the gate through.

A huge booming voice echoed through the street, originating from the southern wall. “Halt criminals, in the name of the King!” Following Amalia, the sight of a line of guards would come into view, lining up just before the gate. There were a huge amount there, even more than he had seen at the palace a few days ago. A couple of squads at the front had rifles trained on them, and Gil could see that they were waiting for their targets to get in range before they fired. “Stay close!” The fishman yelled, before pushing outward with his hands, forcing the water that had been clinging tightly to him for the whole day into a large hollow hemisphere. Kata number six. The water stretched out from the top of his head to a point five metres above him and then umbrella out into a thin shield which encapsulated the three of them should Jackal have stayed close to him. He was concerned at how the duck carrying him would deal with the extra balance and wind resistance generated by the shield. To counteract this, Kappa continued to wiggle his bum, releasing periodic bursts of fine spray from the bottom of his feet, effectively lifting the weight and pressing against the wind.

Getting within fifty metres of the gate, a booming order for fire sounded, followed by the cracking shot of two dozen rifles. Gil knew that this would put a tremendous force on his defences, so he focussed his strength on holding the shield’s formation. Smack! Two dozen bullets hit the water shield, causing it to bend and waver, knocking Gil off balance. With a desperate quack, the duck he was riding reached back with his bill and held onto the fishman’s jacket. He gritted his teeth, his full focus on trying to maintain the immense balancing act.

The guards would begin to reload, but the ducks would be advancing too quickly. Gil would continue with the charge, and smash straight into the wall of guards. He would get his full body behind his water shield, pressing through with bursts of spray out his back to steam roll the defence. However in the chaos, half a dozen with drawn swords would have slipped inside the shield and be ready to take on the criminals. “You’re up!” Gil would yell. He was occupied with the defence so he had to rely on Jackal to deal with them.

Supposing that Jackal had taken care of the guards, Gil would continue on past the guard line and get to within 15m of the gate. He would thrust his right hand forward, performing kata #3. A thin pole of water would extend out, hit the ground just before the gate and then went up and latched onto the metal gate. This formed a massive lever which Gil would jump on and pull down with his body weight. The gate would groan under the pressure, eventually beginning to roll up. With a roar of effort, Gil would lift the gate up with his jujutsu, enough for the trio and their ducks to slip under.

From here, they would be in the clear, charging down the stairs while Gil defended them from potshots using his shield. Thanks to the speed offered to them by the ducks, they had managed to get out of the city before most of the military force of the city had mobilised. Now the great desert of Sandy Island lay ahead.

The charge begun, as the trio danced through the streets of Alabsata gunning for the entrance, well at this point, exit which was the Alubarna Walls. The citizens literally spring boarded out of the path of their advance, as Jackal's pace wouldn't slow down, for any crossing j-walkers, for a moment, he'd felt like an outlaw, dashing in a western film. The idea of this made him grin broadly in glee, which to all those who were bystanders on the road, gawked at the Minkman as a monster who'd uproot a marketing district for his own escape. After a few intersections and forks, Amalia authoritatively barking the turns and movements, the wall's came into sight, and the soldiers who'd been following by foot were beginning to loose pace. Jackal had noticed the rifle guards, assuming their positions on the Gate's Fort and taking aim. Luckily, Jackal took the initiative and covered the group in a aquatic shield, which active as a thin body of water for the bullets to literally collide into. "This guys pretty useful Jackal! In comparison to a certain impulsive Mink!" Amalia shouted. "Shishishishi... Bite me." Jackal retorted grinning. Just then, a posse of guards managed to break through the skin tight shield that Kappa was maintaining as they moved forward. The guards attempt to slash the legs of Spotted Ducks, however, as soon as they motioned to swing, Jackal perform a handstand on the duck's mount, delivering two separate kicks which fired two guards into the party, sending the men toppling like bowling balls in their wake. "Whose more useful now?" Jackal asked condescending. "Please. Stay Focused. We're almost at the gate!" Amalia shouted. Kappa had already motioned a water pillar outward to raise the gate for their safe escape, however, he could tell this process took immense concentration, as Kappa hadn't even responded once during the duo's exchange.

"Shishishi... Time to do my part." Jackal stated. As Gil launched his body off his duck to use the water lever to raise the gate, Jackal would slow his pace down to match the Fishman's descent. Gil's duck looked panicked, not sure if to continue riding or wait for his rider but Jackal's shout told him to continue. "Don't worry about it Mr.Beret. Just keep running!" Jackal exclaimed. As Gil came into range, Jackal latched his hand around the man's collar, kicking his duck in it's side, causing to achieve full speed. As the gate began to descend, with only fifteen feet before the gate shutdown, Jackal and Gil slipped from underneath the now closing metallic gate, as a whole plethora guards were fighting to close the gate down in counter to Kappa's actions. With one charge, the trio were now descending the staircase of Alubarna, with a few stray shots meeting their back into, they'd finally made it into the desert area.

At this point, Amalia led the pack into the deserts seemingly endless surroundings of sand dunes and pillars. "Alright. We'll continue South for a few miles. We can't take the regular route towards Nanohana. They'll already know about your escape by then. We'll take the long way around, a junction between Nanohana and Katorea, it'll take longer but it'll give us time to regroup." Amalia explained. "All I'm hearing is a long ass trek in this fucking sun. Great." Jackal exclaimed, longing out his tongue similar to that of a Hyena. "Are you a Hyena or a Jackal?" Amalia chimed in so perfectly. "Oi." Jackal responded sharply to dismiss the woman's cheeky comment. "Gilbard! Nice stuff back there Shishishi... I was suppose to ask you back in Santa's Hell House... Where did you learn how to do that Water Bending Routine?" Jackal inquired, moving his hands similar to how Gilbard did when manipulating the water. "Could be a Fishman trait." Amalia said. "Much like your electricity as a Mink." Amalia stated. "Eh... I don't know if they're that much the same. From the gist of it, it seems that Gil moves around water. I can't just up and manipulate any old electrical discharge. At my current strength anyway." Jackal stated, pointing his thumb towards his heart. "Mink's have a special... I guess you can say nervous system. We're able to produce surges of electrical pulses similar to that found in the brain through our pours. Our fur kind of act as a conductor of sorts... Well... According to my Old Man. I just kind of just went with the flow and it worked." Jackal explained, rambling on.

Three birds, two mammals and a fish run into the desert. This isn't the start of a joke, but rather a tale of a band of outlaws that seemed simultaneously both blessed and cursed by a whimsical Lady Luck.

Gil's wall of water held strong as they barrelled down the great stairway and into the desert to the south. He could feel a few stray shells pang into his malleable bubble. He had nearly been thrown off the bird a number of times. Thankfully, his sense of balance was honed from a lifetime of rigorous martial arts. His jujutsu control was up to the job, it was the addition of the duck that was dangerous.

Once they had cleared the range of the city walls, Gil reverted his jujutsu back to having it cling to his body. This state was comfortable to him. All it required was a little wiggle of the tush now and then to keep its shape. While Jackal flirted with the human, Gil patted and praised his duck for the good work he had done. He truly was a brave warrior for charging at that line of guards. The duck quacked in response, bringing his feathered wing up to his head in a salute.

Gil's attention had been drawn back to the conversation when they began talking about the electricity that Jackal was able to generate and which he had used in battle. The fishman was interested in this topic, as biological research was his profession and obsession. "I can't say I have much experience in minkman anatomy. You're the first person I've seen use it. I have read plenty, however. I believe it is called 'electro'. It is quite an interesting power for sure as well as the specialised adaptations that it would require. As you say, the nervous system runs of electric impulse, but at a far lower voltage than that generated by any external emissions. I am rather curious to see how this power comes to be without electrocuting the user. After all, how insulating can fur be, when your electric emmissions can flow through the natural insulator that is air..." Gil rattled off, his croaky voice becoming quieter and quieter as he began to speak less to the group and more to himself. "... I wouldn't mind opening you up whenever we get the chance." He would finish, looking up. Realising that this probably infringed on many a social boundary, he would add on. "Oh, I don't mean a living disection or anything. Maybe just you know, taking a peek. Like how you peel back the wrapper of a chocolate bar to nibble at the contents."

The fishman would scratch his chin. He really didn't think he had helped the situation much. He decided to change tack by bringing up the previous question "This is what surface dwellers call fishman jujutsu - we just call it jujutsu by the way. It's a martial art, involving the manipulation of water. I have found it to be a rather useful tool, as well as a respectable weapon. But to me and my brothers it is more than that, it is our link to the sea, and the wholesome way to worship her. Each kata is a prayer, that when given with a reverent heart, will be answered by the most ancient and natural of forces."

"Act II"

It's the thrill in the end. In that moment when something stolen becomes mine or is it? That's the bliss I desire.

"Sure. Deal. If I die, my body's all yours to cut open." Jackal exclaimed, chuckling afterwards in his 'Shishishi' pattern. "Eh... Jackal was odd enough... now this one. They'll make for strange combination." Amalia thought to herself. "Ah Fishman Jujutsu might be useful if we'll be travelling together from now on, seeing as I'm rumoured to have lost my ability to swim." Jackal stated, unsure if the myths about Devil Fruit were true or false. "Now that I think about it. If they sent out messenger birds from the capital to the neighbouring towns... Nanohana might not be a good idea." Jackal theorised. "Well... Of course not. Via the normal route, they'd be in Nanohana hours before us. We're going the long way because if you don't go through the city, it's quicker to make it to the port. Getting a ship at the National Harbour should be your next move. Then getting as far away from Sandy Isle as possible." Amalia explained. "I'm afraid I can't do that." Jackal said, stroking his hands along the feather's of his spotted duck in a soothing manner. "I have one last 'job' I need to finish in Alubarna before I can leave this island. Besides, to traverse Paradise, you'll need a Log Pose and a Navigator." Jackal stated. "But getting a ship might be a good idea, what'd you think Gil? Though, I'm sure if you wanted, you could simply swim to the next island." Jackal inquired, shooting a devilish grin. The charter continued for hours, Jackal wouldn't say much, but occasionally pant much like a dog would. Amalia on the other hand would ask Gilbard a series of questions about 'Kata', his brothers, and his seeming religion. Jackal didn't mind asking but he hated forcing information out of others, especially personal facts, so he'd just listening in on Gilbard's responses, pretending not to pay attention to the duo's conversation.

Soon the sun began to set on the horizon, the Duck's had been travelling now for little over eight hours straight and they were beginning to get exhausted. Pointing a grouping of cactuses up ahead, Amalia suggested they setup camp within the cacti formation for the night. Charging ahead, the woman would manoeuvre smoothly through cacti, settling within the heart of the cacti bed, after which Jackal too, would follow her path to suit. It'd be near several large stones and boulders that they could've used for makeshift seating. Tying the ducks onto the larger stones, Amalia dug through her backpacks, removing feed and water for the three birds to munch on. Tossing a backpack to Gil and Jackal each, "Inside those are food rations I managed to rustle up in the city. Nothing flashy, beans, beef jerky, chutneys, mostly stuff that wouldn't go spoil in the heat. Should be able to make a stew of some sorts... and we can replenish our water from the cacti." Amalia explained. "Once it's not animal based... I'm fine. Fish. Greens. Even Milk will do. But the smell of red meat makes me ill." Jackal responded, commencing to dig through the bag. "Why don't you eat meat Jackal?" Amalia asked, as she tended to the ducks. "Well... That'd be like cannibalism. Why don't you eat human?" Jackal inquired pouting. "I don't eat mammals of any kind." Jackal continued to explain. "I have some really good friends that have sheep and cow heritage! They're good Minks!" Jackal concluded.

After tending to the ducks, Amalia would gather what she could in dessert twigs, using some stock wood in the bags strapped around the ducks to build a fireplace. Jackal would move some boulders, and motion for Gil to help out and position them around the fire. Though the days were scorching hot, the dessert night air is immensely cold, and the slight change of temperature could make newcomers to the environment ill. Making idle conversation, "So. Where did you guys first meet, Jackal? Gilly?" Amalia inquired, quite proud of her nickname for the Fishman. "Santa's Workshop." Jackal said with the most serious of expressions, as he'd began to use his finger nail to open the canned beans, unloaded them into the pot that was hosted over the fire. "Til this day... Statues still freak me out." Jackal concluded, Amalia looking at the man with the utmost of awe, turning to Gil in hopes of a better explanation or any clarity to the situation period.

"It sounds like it would be a good idea to have the option of leaving the island should you need to. I'm not sure what other sorts of trouble you've been getting yourself into but by the way you conduct yourself, I can tell you aren't quite the discrete type." It was a practical decision. If Jackal had a way to get a ship and someone who could navigate the grand line, then it would give him more options when it came to going where he wanted, when he wanted. If Gil were to give him advice, he would say to lay low or even leave Sandy Island for the time being to let the heat die down. But he wasn't one to intrude on anyone else's business. As the group traveled, Gil would let a tail made of water extend behind them, sweeping the sand so that their trail would be concealed.

The sun slowly melted into the golden, gritty sea. The group set up camp and began preparing food. "I've got water here if anyone wants it. It is better not to drink the cactus juice if you can avoid it. The stuff is mildly toxic and will make you hallucinate if you have too much. In fact, I've seen a few people come through the clinic door while off their face from a concentrated alcoholic cactus juice brew." Gil would 'water bend' as Jackal put it, the liquid that he had kept clinging to him throughout the day to the others, so that they may have a drink should they want it.

It was interesting to hear Jackal's philosophy about what he ate. Gil would have assumed that a carnivore like himself would eat whatever meat came in front of him. But it seemed like there was a line to be crossed in eating your own species. Gil wondered if the mink ate human, but maybe they counted as being a mammal for the sake of his argument. After all, if Jackal were to eat humans, there would be none left that he could flirt with.

The fishman helped with the preparations, opting to do the heavy lifting. He would move some of the boulders to form a ring around the group, so that the light from the fire would not be able to be seen by any search parties that had happened to come this way. The change in temperature was something that had initially been very hard to deal with when he came to Sandy Island, but his hardy body and spirit had coped with it after a while. No environment was as inhospitable as the crushing pressures of the deep sea trench in which he grew up. After helping himself to some food, Gil would sit himself down and joined the conversation of their Christmas themed exploits.

"I'm still not too sure what exactly transpired, or why. But it seemed like we got caught in the crossfire of some not so merry event. It was a very strange thing. We woke up in a cell..." Gil would begin a brief and to the point description of each room they moved to. "... And at the end, it seemed like nothing at all had happened. If it weren't for my injuries, I could have easily mistaken all of that for a fever dream. Oh and don't mention that sleigh." Gil shivered as he alluded to their second Christmas adventure, his body remembering the chilly environment of Drum Island.

The chatter continued for a little while until the fire began to die down. Once everyone had eaten their fill, Gil would leave the camp site briefly to co and collect some of the cactus juice he had been talking about. He brought about a litre of it back, holding it in a bubble around his left hand. After washing out the cooking pot, he would dump the juice inside and let it slowly bubble away. He would also clean off a knife and stick it in the embers. After another twenty minutes passed, and the liquid was reduced and concentrated. "So this is the good stuff aye?" Amelia reached her bowl forward to attempt to scoop some of the mixture out. "It isn't for drinking. Unless you don't want to get up for the next two days." Gil croaked gruffly in response. Taking the bowl and knife off the fire and planting it in the sand, he went and sat next to Jackal. It's about time that I had a proper look at those wounds. His black eyes poured over the mink's body. Jackal hadn't said a word about them since they started, but by the state of him, he must have been in agony after such an uncomfortable journey. If Jackal should let him, he would begin examining him, splitting the hair all over his body to look at the bruising and cuts. Through the hair on his head, under his armpits and even pulling the mink's pants open without warning to check down there. "Don't be nervous, I'm a professional."

After ten more minutes, the cactus juice and knife would still be hot but not enough to burn. He would grab the juice in his left hand, forming a bubble, and the knife in his right hand. "This is going to hurt, but don't struggle." Then he would go along all of Jackal's cuts and clean them out with the knife first, removing all dirt and dead tissue. After each cut, he would press the cactus juice up against the wound. This would help numb the pain slightly and protect against infection. Once the mink was all cleaned up, Gil would take a needle and thread and bandages out of his little doctor's satchel he had picked up at the clinic. He would patch him up and leave him to rest. "Now go to sleep. You should feel a lot better in the morning."

With that taken care of, Gil was much more at peace. The sky was completely dark now, and the last few embers were dying out. A brilliant starscape flashed into view. The pinpricks of light as many as there were grains of sand in this desert. It reminded Gil of the bioluminescent microbiology that gave light in the deep. There was something nostalgic to be said about the scene. Finding a free patch of sand, Gil would settle down, cross his legs and clasp his hands. Instead of sleeping, he would meditate through the night. After a lifetime of practice, he was able to lower himself into a sleep like trance in this position while still worshiping through his jujutsu.

"Act II"

It's the thrill in the end. In that moment when something stolen becomes mine or is it? That's the bliss I desire.

Jackal wasn't sure if it was evident in his sluggish movements or tattered breathing but Gilbard began the process of cleaning the Mink's wound, patching him from the traumatic experience. Though, if Jackal was being completely honest with himself, he was immensely null to torture after at this point. His mind entered into a place where it's almost introspective, removing himself from the situation and reminiscing about the old days on Zou. Amalia dipped her cup into the 'Dessert Juice' ignoring Gilbard's warnings, "I'm a big girl. I can handle myself. Besides. I'm thirsty!" Amalia exclaimed, chugging the alcoholic concoction down in one gobble. Accepting the medical aid, Gil's scaly hands inspected the Mink's various wounds and lacerations, however it was odd, Jackal expected the Fishman's hands to be cold for some reason but oddly, much like him, his hands carried a certain warmth to them. Strange, the same kind of bias Lesser Mink's showed towards him, even at the smallest degree, Jackal's ignorance was a humbling experience.

Gil proceeded to prepare his tools using the purified Cactus Juice mixture, and warned Jackal of the impending pain. "Shishishi... It can't be that-" Jackal exclaimed before the first dab of cotton wool sent a electrifying sensation throughout his whole body. "FUCK!" Jackal shouted. After several more profanities, escape attempts and immense squirming, Jackal was finally patched up, as the process of cutting out the dead flesh, coating it in the ointment then with bandages came to a close, Jackal now resembled that of a zombie, or Shishio from Rurouni Kenshin, but a bandaged Mink none the less. Gilbard would re-position himself about three feet or so, making himself comfortable in the sand and assuming an odd sleeping stance, though, Jackal noticed moments later that he was engaging in some kind of prayer or meditation type ritual.

Resting backwards gently against the sand, remaining at his position around the perimeter of the bond fire, Jackal stared at the bright stars that captivated the night sky. Jackal was about to start conversation with Gilbard once again, there was so much he still didn't understand about the Fishmen Race, that he'd want to genuinely cover to not offend the man but that'd be a conversation for another time. After a few hours, Jackal would rise up once again, as his stomach was the motivator to push through the pain, moving gingerly making sure not to reopen any of his wounds, or else Gilbard probably would've had a fit. Placing a pot above the campfire, Jackal would empty several cans of beans into the pot, stirring it with some makeshift utensils that Amalia had provided prior. Gilbard had looked awake but his eyes were close, either in deep meditation or maybe that's how he slept, either way, Jackal was alarmed when Amalia arms wrapped around his neck into a neck hold. Bellowing out, "What's wrong with you Lesser Mink!?" Jackal inquired, trying his hardest not to electrocute the woman, as his fear of being touched by humans, hadn't exactly completely disappeared. Hiccuping feverishly, "Why can't I join yer' crew Jackal!?" Amalia shouted, with droplets of tears in your eyes.

"Look. I told you I'm not sure how I feel about travelling with humans just yet. I'm working on-" Jackal's speech was cut short by the feel of Amalia's teeth sinking into his shoulder. "Bad Jackal!" Amalia shouted pouting, continuing to hiccup in a mad furry. "Oi! You think I'm just some dog you can tame by biting-" Jackal's said, before screeching out from the awkwardness of this situation. "Is it because I don't have enough fur!? You prefer Mink Women!? Don't just say nothing Jackal! Answer me when I'm talking to yer!" Amalia shouted, slurring her words in every aspect of the sentence. "What in the... Gilbard-" Jackal attempted to shout but his pleas were silenced by Amalia's drunken body passing out on top of the Mink. Without enough energy to move her, Jackal was squashed by the woman's body, and the Mink and Human, slept together for the first time as Jackal's beans burned on the open fire. The next morning, Jackal was awakened by the woman's scream and feel her slap against his cheek due to the position she'd regained consciousness in. Finally breaking her hold on the poor Mink, Jackal returned to standing forming, checking his body for the feel of his muscles and sustained injuries. "Shishishi... Whatever you did worked wonders. I'm still a bit sore no doubt but I feel ten times better than yesterday drudging through this heat with these wounds. Thanks." Jackal explained, shooting the Fishman his devilish grin.

Ignoring Amalia's questions about what happened last night, the party traversed finally arriving at Nanohana Port, only to find the port left in ruins and scorched by burn marks. Someone had not only wrecked the port but set a series of ships on fire.

The Vessel Known As The Black Baron (ブラックバロンとして知られる船舶) SWCsElF

From the sand dune that the posse stood on overlooking the port, Jackal tried to assess the situation using his Kenbunshoku Haki. Expanding his mind's eye outward over a thirty meter radius, he'd see a sea of marines providing aid to the dock owners, citizens and shipwrights. "What in the world happened here..." Jackal murmured to himself. "This is terrible." Amalia exclaimed, covering her mouth and nose to combat the smell of charring wood and flesh. "With that much bounty on your head, I don't think you should be walking around exposed like that old friend." a familiar voice called, approaching from the east. "Shishishi... Well... I didn't think the dock would've been under such turmoil. Was this your doing, Sinbad!?" Jackal inquired grinning. "No way." Sinbad exclaimed, displaying a shocked expression. "I've abandoned my life as bandit in these last few months. I've been studying navigation in the Capital but I came here to seek out sea charts from the locals. However, it seems that Sandy Harbour has suffered two attacks by two separate pirate groups." Sinbad reported.

"Pirates?" Jackal responded. "I wonder if it was Gin and his men..." Jackal pondered. "Yeah. The first attack was by a Giant Fishman, around thirty plus feet they say, goes by the name of 'Oceanus' or Cetus Neptune. The next attack was by a pirate whose bounty is even higher than yours... A man by the name of Bazil 'Warhead' Styx." Sinbad explained. "Bazil... That's that crazy guy I was suppose to tell you about Gilbard. Before the incident at the castle, I made a journey out to Rainbase to hunt down another Bandit King. During the incident, a red head with a Mohawk wrecked the place. He could've transformed his body into canons or armed weapons for the most part." Jackal concluded. "If you ever meet him again, be careful. That man's said to murder civilians in a heartbeat with no remorse." Sinbad explained. "Cetus... Bazil... I'll remember their names." Jackal stated, atop his spotted duck.

"What's the next move now Amalia? We can't exactly go mucking around for a ship now? This place is swarming with Marines and we're outnumbered." Jackal inquired. "No clue. It'd be suicide to broker the vessel the regular way now. The natives are definitely not going to be friendly towards 'pirates' such as yourselves. Well, probably Gilly would get away but seeing as they might have a fear of Fishmen now... That'd be also out the window." Amalia explained. "A Fishman and A Human Lover... You sure know how to keep your party lively, Jackal." Sinbad exclaimed, taunting the group. "L-L-" Amalia repeatedly stammered, trying to sound the word 'Lover'. "I don't keep anyone. Gilbard's a good pal of mine. Gilbard. Meet Sinbad. He used to be the Right Hand Man of The Notorious Bandit, Barron. Before I squashed his ass. You already know Amalia." Jackal exclaimed grinning.

"Maybe I've comeback for revenge on my former boss?" Sinbad said, reaching for the dagger at his waist playfully. The two stared each other down momentarily, only breaking out into laughter. Hopping off his camel, and Jackal off his duck, the duo extended their fist towards each other to honour their reunion with a fist-bump. "So you've come looking for ship huh?" Sinbad inquired. "It's about time. I can't keep ignoring the 'Pirate' part of my 'Mink Bandit Pirate' moniker for any longer. The seas are calling me. Though, I have one more thing to finish up here on Sandy." Jackal explained. "Oh? Sounds like trouble. If you want a ship however,I'd recommend Barron's Old Ship. Still works like a beaut' and it's on the partof the harbour unaffected from the flames and attacks." Sinbad exclaimed grinning.

"What's the catch 22?" Jackal inquired. "Barron's Vessel was said to be so fast, it'd out speed smaller crafts and it'd have the sturdiness to take blows like a Warship. It was gift to him by his Marine Mentor at the time. As a result, after going awol, Barron's former Marnie Superior's commanded the Government of Alabasta to lock away the ship in a Docking Container to the South of here. The sails might need changing but it should be in tip top condition. Barron was always planning to get it back after he'd conquered Nanohana." Sinbad explained. "He didn't exactly calculate for a certain meddling Mink and a National Hero." Sinbad concluded smiling. "What's the ship's name?" Jackal inquired. "They call it the Black Barron." Sinbad retorted.

The next morning brought on a heat just as furious as the last. It was a reliable weather at least, even if it wasn't the most pleasant. A lot of Kappa's water had evaporated from his exposure the day before, and he would probably be running low today. He had managed to get a decent rest while meditating, even if his other two travel mates had indulged in some form of hankey pankey. Maybe this was a mating ritual in their culture? He would have to take notes.

The three made their way along the rest of the path to the Nanohana port. Gil was just beginning to become restless atop his duck when they mounted the dune that gave them a look out over the port. They had made it to the coast. He would greet the appearing man with a curt bow, executing it as graceful as he was able while straddling the big chicken. Gil listened intently on this information. An 'Oceanus' and a 'Warhead' name came up. The latter had earned a special mention from Jackal, which on it's own was something worth noting. Apparently he had some sort of ability to turn himself into weapons and was all for murdering civilians. He would have to watch out for these sorts. He could see how much damage these events had caused. He could only imagine the collateral damage inflicted on the population here. Gil thought that it may be a good idea to return here if he could, there may be something he could do there to make use of the situation while helping out.

The conversation would move on to the topic of the Black Barron. Apparently it was a ship of value, and from how this Sinbad guy was hyping it up, he would guess that Jackal would set his mind on having this particular one. "Well, if you are set on having this ship then may I suggest a plan of approach? If this ship is still on the water then I may able to gain access through the seaside exit. I'll see if I can enter this container and let the rest of you in. Just make sure to get there without causing too much of a fuss." He realised that last request was probably a bit too much of this particular group. He would then turn to Sinbad. "If you happen to have any further information on the location and layout of this place then that would help."

"Act II"

It's the thrill in the end. In that moment when something stolen becomes mine or is it? That's the bliss I desire.

Turning towards the Fishman, Sinbad shot the doctor a broad smile, "I guess your accustomed to the way Jackal does things." Sinbad stated. The blonde would listen attentively to Gilbard's queries and responded as soon as he'd have time to finish. "Ah. Attack from the water... Makes sense, especially where the warehouse is situated. Further down the coast from here, you'll see a descent which would be the official entrance into the Port. If we follow a few ways down by foot, we'll be able to hop the wooden fence over into the Port Yard. After that, heading East, you'll come to an area populated with Marines. It's where all the vessels for incoming marine ships dock at. The buildings that their vessels are stored in have the same format, a stone dock and a water pathway leading into the warehouse, which shuts with a retractable door. The metal door only travels to about twenty feet below water's surface, so if you can swim that far down, and resurface, you can open the door as opposed to the gate on the buildings inside." Sinbad reported. "Shishishi... You seem to know quite a bit about this area Sinbad?" Jackal stated grinning. "I'm a bandit through and through... I've been scouting this place for weeks. I was even here when those freaks of nature attacked. I just kind of blended into the background. Both times the marines nearby responded after they'd left but everyone was too jacked up to slip away with a ship." Sinbad concluded, sighing at the annoying nature of the situation. "Pirates are such the noisy lot... What's the good of causing trouble if it doesn't fill yer' pockets?" Sinbad inquired. At the man's statement, Jackal could've nod in agreement, even with Jin, he'd had no intentions of making a big spectacle, things just kind of ended up that way.

"The Barron's a nice ship. It'll do you well." Sinbad concluded. "I guess we'll be teaming up again. Lead the way." Jackal stated. Winking, "Okay Boss. This way." Sinbad responded. As such, Jackal, Sinbad, Gilbard and Amalia travelled the long-way around the Sandy Bay, until they'd pass the Port's Entrance in the distance, about thirty meters away. Continuing South, Sinbad would lead them about a half a mile down, before the gate faded out of sight, and the only thing could've been seen from their position was a wooden gate, which stemmed about thirty-five feet into the air, covering the bay behind. Behind the gate was a downhill decline, that'd be more suitable for foot travel than with Camels and Ducks.  All of this Sinbad would convey as the group travelled, needing something to talk about to kill the time between travel and the piercing intense sun. "If that's the case, I'll setup camp here." Amalia chimed in. "We're to leave you out here in these elements on your lonesome. As a gentleman by trade, I can't permit this." Sinbad chimed in. "Ha. That's cute kid." Amalia said winking. "But I'm a woman of many resources. I can handle myself, just ask Jackal." Amalia stated, clutching at the handle of her shotgun she carried at her waste. "I think she'll be fine Sinbad... Trust me. She's isn't the push over type." Jackal said, his face almost turning pale. Sinbad took this as a social cue to drop the offer of chivalry, simply nodding awkwardly. Mounting their beasts of burden, Jackal, Sinbad and Gilbard planned the stealth mission behind the wooden gate.

"Alright. Me and Sinbad will create a distraction. Gilbard makes it into the water, and swims into the dock underneath the gates. Once you make it in, we'll hide, loose their attention. Just leave the door to the warehouse opened and give us an hour." Jackal stated.

Gil listened to Sinbad, taking on board all of the information he was given. He had to agree with Jackal, the man had investigated the area very well. Gil had to admit that him avoiding eyes while the others made the distraction did appeal. He seemed pretty reliable, this acquaintance of Jackal's. However, the fishman remained a little suspicious of him even if he did agree to go ahead with the plan. Gil would ask a few questions to go over the specifics of the plan while they walked. The group would travel slowly down to where Amalia began to set up camp. Apparently this is where she would stay to look after the animals. "Thank you for your help so far." He would give a curt bow before turning to the others. "Give me an hour from now to get into position. I'll begin once the guards around the waterside have been drawn away or at least sufficiently distracted. Good luck." With those last words, Gil would walk toward the sea. He was not going to enter the town, but instead enter the next bay around and swim in. This way he would be much less suspicious.

Gilbard made sure to avoid contact with anyone on the way down, taking the valleys created by dunes all the way to the ocean side rocky outcrops. There his breathing started to slow as his lungs recognised the salt in the air. Wading in the water was a rejuvenating experience, like getting home from a particularly arduous work day and resting your feet. He would slowly melt into the sea, drifting out into the bay. Circling around the nearby cape, the seaside town of Nanohana came back into view. Passing underwater, he lurked in the deep, diving beneath the many large ships that passed in and out of the harbour. It would take him another fifteen minutes or so to locate the spot that had been described to him by Sinbad. He drew up, slowly ascending to a shallower depth. He chose a vantage point cloaked in shadow underneath a nearby wharf. Here he would wait for Jackal to draw away the nearby guards so he could slip inside.

"Act III"

It's the thrill in the end. In that moment when something stolen becomes mine or is it? That's the bliss I desire.

At this point, Jackal and Sinbad moved independent from the remainder of the group, advancing towards the thirty-five foot gate with stealth. Due to the immense size of the port, having a guard post at every point along the gate was too taxing operational wise, so using patrols within the gate made the most sense from an organisational perspective. Within moments, the duo made it to the base of the wall, with their next goal of scaling the Goliath before them. "Hop onto my back." Jackal stated, almost out of the blue to Sinbad. "What?" Sinbad inquired, confused. "Shishishi... Just trust me." Jackal stated. The height difference between the two made the whole situation awkward, and bonkers to anyone watching it from inception. Sinbad, the well over six footer, jumped onto Jackal, the five-footer's back, Jackal using his arms to nestle the undercarriage of his legs. Bending his knees a few times for testing, Jackal launched off the ground in a standing jump, easily gaining about forty-feet in height off the ground, doing this solo would've garnered him even more height but this wasn't his entry for a jumping contest. Once achieving hang-time, Jackal would focus his weight forward to the East, clearing the fence using the momentum of the fall, gracefully landing into a pile of sand on the opposite side of the fence, now standing on a hill like decline, or more so a dune cut in half of it's usual height.

"And we're in." Jackal said, dropping Sinbad onto the ground from off his shoulders. "Rude." Sinbad said snarling. Each building in the port were marked by number, the first two buildings directly in front of them at a ten meter distance was '88' and '89', while the Barron was located in '102'. Meaning, they'd have immense distance to travel before they could've made it towards the dock hoisting their vessel. Quickly descending, as staying where they were now would've left them exposed, Jackal and Sinbad changed positions to behind warehouse '88'. The stone docking section to the front of all of these buildings, connected each of them in columns and rows of three for as far as the eye could've stretched. Marines patrolled each row from one end to the other on intervals, the whole idea of the plan was to create noise in one sector of the port. Jackal hated the idea of playing decoy in retrospect, as a thief, it's usually the other way around for him. "Alright Sinbad. I'll keep an eye on your position using my 'Mantra'. Just map out a route towards the container... Don't separate too far, just keep at least thirty yards away from me at all points." Jackal stated, before bending his knees to dash off once again. Shooting Jackal a wink, the two sprung their plan into action. Springing from the floor towards the ceiling of warehouse '88', Jackal became directly in the open for every marine in this sector to notice. The men's eyes almost popped out of the socket when they realised who this man was.

One of the marines gulped so loud that it sound like the saliva he was swallowing was filled with gravel, bulging in his oesophagus similar to a child attempting to swallow a marble out of curiosity. "Y- Y- Your The Mink Bandit Jackal!" one of the marines shouted, readying his pistol. Having his signature pooka dotted scarf cover the latter half of his face beneath his nose at first, Jackal would extending his neck from behind the garment to act on a devilish grin. Chuckling, "The one and only!" Jackal shouted. In that one instant, Jackal would b-line to the West, or left of his position, running in the opposite direction of Sinbad, who'd been heading to the right. Activating his Kenbunshoku Haki, Jackal was able to monitor the man's position, and the route he was mapping out, keeping him in his Mind's Eye via simply trailing his aura. Hopping from rooftop to rooftop of the warehouses Jackal proceeded with the chase. The marines used their Den Den's to ask for reinforcements, trying to setup up a firing squad to pin-down the man's position. Now moving through the middle column warehouse tops in their column and row fashion, each ceiling about forty-feet with a five meter leap between buildings, Jackal would complete his very next jump, traverse about ten feet into the sprint, and then effortlessly, lean his body to a side mid-stride, seemingly falling off the roof, but this acrobatic stunt was intentional, to break up the marines flow. The platoon of fifteen men tried to cluster to the left and right of the building, cutting off his point of advance, but as Jackal fell from the ceiling, he'd jam his claws into wall of building ending his descent and breaking through the windows of warehouse '79' with his feet, slipping into the hole he created at about twenty feet off the ground,  hiding inside of the building for cover, falling onto the metallic balcony that hoisted all the ship's within these buildings. "All forces surround '79'! I repeat surround '79'!" one of the marine grunts shouted.

Meanwhile, Sinbad had his own manner of doing things, dragging one of the straggling marines from the rear of their platoon's advance, Sinbad would cover the man's mouth with his hand, man-handling him into the alleyway between warehouse, '88' and '89'. Once he'd drag him far enough from the open, he'd disarm the man, stripping him of his pistol and gingerly placing his dagger against the marines neck. "Now. Good Evening Friend. I'm sorry to interrupt you from your little... high speed chase? But I need some directions." Sinbad commanded, placing the man's right arm into a chicken wing hold, while keeping his left hand within shaving distance along the man's adam's apple. "I won't corporate with any fucking pirate! We're proud marines of the Branch 76th! Unlike these local scrubs on Alabasta... we've served under the likes of Rear Admiral Sparks himself. If your working with the Jackal, you'll never make it out of this port alive." the marine confessed. "Ah... so he's not a local." Sinbad thought to himself. Slamming the grip of his dagger into the man's head with immense force, Sinbad left the marine unconscious. "Waste of time. Thanks for the information though. Rear Admiral huh... I guess those four actions have brought down the Marine Core's Hammer." Sinbad murmured to himself grinning. After which, he'd repeat the process until finding a local marine, and once that was accomplished he'd have the marine point him in the direction of the Barron, which was apparently situated in Warehouse '102', as such Sinbad began his journey, East. At this point, the distance between the two men is fifteen yards.
