The Sunbird is built to be an ornate tribute to the Sun God, Ra, as opposed to a ship built for combat. The hull of the ship is fashioned to look like a bird sitting on the water with sails strategically placed to look like that of a bird's spread wings. Being built for aesthetic purposes, the ship's hull is closed, sealing passengers within and incapable of traversing the outside without special equipment mostly used for hull repairs.

Propulsion of the ship is dependent on the wing-shaped sails that spread out to the sides of the hull. These sails are unique, being built capable of folding to the side of the ship in the event of a heavy storm. While the sails are the primary source of propulsion, the bottom level of the ship is built with increase mobility in mind. In the event that sails are damaged or more turning power is necessary, rows can be extended out to the side, increasing drag from one side or the other or allowing grunts to further assist the ship in moving forward.

While the Sunbird is built mostly for aesthetics, its combat power has not been totally nullified. The sides of the ship are built to allow cannons to be extended out and fired from either side. The ornate bird's head at the front of the ship also allows for a single heavy canon to be mounted on it for special occasions.
