The city was shaded by numerous stormclouds. A heavy rainfall came upon the city. There were still plenty of people going about their daily lives despite rainfall. Most of Dipo's vision was blocked out by the many umbrellas over their heads, turning every which way. Dipo padded through the muddy streets on his way back to the Sand Crab Inn. He had been out looking around the Nanohana shops all day. He wasn't on the lookout for anything in particular but he came into a couple of items that peaked his interest. The most notable of which is a water dial, Dipo had grabbed the cream-colored shell because he thought it looked neat. The deal was sealed when the merchant woman came over and tapped a button on the bottom of it, which caused the hand-sized shell to eject a strong stream of water. While he was walking Dipo held out the dial so it would refill on the rainwater. It couldn't hurt to have a bucket of water in the back of his pocket anytime he needed it. He also happened to have his Clima-Tact and gun with him just in case he needed those too.
He mostly went out because he was tired of sitting in his room. It had been four days since he had stolen and ate that Devil Fruit. After days of pacing around his room, he'd gotten sick of it. Dipo had sat by the window scanning the block for those red bandanas. However, he didn't spot them. Could it be that they were using the same tactic as him? Sticking to crowds of people as to not be easily seen or maybe they had left the city to search the vast desert for him instead. Either way, Dipo had still kept himself inside. He would walk downstairs to the bar to talk to the innkeeper, Gladys, and to pay for the room too. The only productive thing he had done the entire time was test out his new abilities. Dipo had come to find out he could produce nets which seemed to be composed of some sort of adhesive substance. He expected something more extravagant than nets, but he wasn't the least disappointed, it was something.
Dipo tucked the dial back into his pocket and continued on. He wasn't keeping to the crowds this time around. The downpour should be sufficient enough to hide him. Walking into the tavern Dipo kicked his muddy shoes on the doormat and shook off his blue raincoat. Draping it over his arm he started up the stairs, looking over his shoulder, the bar and tables were unusually empty; Gladys wasn't in her usual position behind the bar either. His brows furrowed in thought as he went up the stairs, even though the clouds were blocking out the sky Dipo knew for certain that it was only Midday. This was the first time it had rained since he had been here, so maybe the people of Nanohana did other things during rainfall like collecting the water. They were in the desert, after all, you never know when a drought might occur.
Unlocking his door and pushing into it, Dipo walked into the room and slammed the door behind him. The room was dim, being barely illuminated by the cloudy outside sky. Dipo was barely three feet into the room before something clanked against the right of his head. Bells started ringing in his ears and his head pulsed. Turning to meet it Dipo was faced with a towering figure. He squinted trying to get a good look at his attacker, but they were protected by the darkness. One thing that Dipo saw clearly was the blood red bandana on the top of his head. The man raised what appeared to be a club, preparing for another strike. Before the man could hit him again, Dipo grabbed his gun and pointed it at him. "Stop!" He shouted. His attacker stopped with the club raised and stared down at the mink. Before he could get another word out another strike came from Dipo's left side aimed at his leg. Dipo fired a reactionary shot at the man to his right. Dipo fell to the floor and so did the attacker in front of him. He wasn't sure if he was dead but he was on the ground. When he fell the revolver clattered a few feet away from him. He started to go for it, but the other man dashed over and kicked it farther away. Dipo saw that this man had a red bandana as well. His gun was across the room and he was on the floor with a still pulsing head. Dipo reached down and grabbed his Clima-Tact; before he even attempted to use it, the man aimed a hard kick at Dipo's head. As the boot connected darkness enveloped Dipo and he fell unconscious.
