New Blood & A Red Moon 206B0AD5332C68046AC641A79B09F6F42F1ADC37

A murmur passed around the streets. Jackal had been laying low for the last week after Freya's death. Adding to the roster of dead crewmates was May, and that was the last straw. Her head was shipped to their location in a brown box, and the only thing left fresh in her skull was a puddle of her blood and still live irises. The Mink couldn't help but weep, however, a darker tone for the Bandit King's mind loomed on the horizon.

Murmur wrote:
Red Moon Bar - On the next full moon, anyone looking to join the Bandit King can find me here.

Using Jake's information network and manpower, the flyers containing this message danced across the Second District. In the one story pub, the action had already commenced. On the floor of the pub were several of Mother's assassins, left beaten bloody on the floor. It was truly a suicide mission, for the last ten hours, Jackal had been slaughtering anyone who came through the door declaring to be on Mother's side. Those who did came to join his crew, lost heart after seeing the demonic figure of the Jackal Mink sitting on a stool in the centre of the bar, surrounded by an aroma of charred flesh, urine and blood. What made it even more barbaric was none of them where killed, they'd been beaten senseless right before the brink of death.

"Boss-" Jake began to speak but his speech was hushed by the Bandit Navigator, Sinbad.

"I've never seen Jackal angry before. However, he'll be back to his old self... Just give him time."
Sinbad said, stooping down to make eye-contact with the child-street dealer.

"Look. I'm going to head over to the ship and finish up what May started with weapon modifications. I won't tell you to leave here... If you want to blow off steam... Fine. Just remember we need more hands. Clear your head... If any possible recruits come, you need to tell them clearly what they're getting themselves into. It's war now Jackal. Only persons coming out of this are us or Mother's family." Sinbad stated before ushering the remainder of the crew to exit the pub.

With no response, wallowing in his own darkness, Jackal sat waiting alone.

Bandit King, Professor Bomb, God, Bananaman Orangeguy

These were all names in a hat, left for grabbing. Who to join, what to do, where to do it? These daily questions troubled the young minds of the grunts wandering through one of the many shady districts in Baltigo. Our main character got troubled by one of those names. A so called Bandit King. Wasn't that a contradiction though? Wasn't a Bandit someone who revolted against all figures of authority, of justice in particular. And by becoming a King, you also give up your ability to be a bandit -- don't you? This contradiction had called for some interest. It surely was a strange invitation though, for a figure who's supposed to be all coveted-like, what was the point in such a PR letter like this? Could it be a trap? He already felt his thin wallet rumbling - it was hungry, was today the day he paid 10,000,000 beli in order to see what the fuss was all about? The poster said something about going to this Red Moon pub at the next full moon.

And as fate would have guessed it, today's moon was nice and full. On his way to his pub, he saw some shady figures who told him that if he turned against the Bandit King, he'd be handsomely rewarded. Very, very handsomely. When he asked how handsomely, the shady figures opened a few chests that caused the sun to shine for a few seconds deep into the night. A nod of acknowledgement was given, and our main character went on his way to this pub. Thinking he'd be able to take this contradiction of a name on and claim his prize. Blood mixed with dirt made it look like some kind of bomb had blown up on the middle of the street. The streams of blood came from a pub, Spook could tell that he had arrived at the right place.

Still courageous in his boots, he kicked the semi-open door completely open. As to distill fear into the man who sat at the center of it all. After putting his thumbs into his pants, his hands scowled over his belt. He looked this man in the eyes and didn't waver. After making a complete ninety-degree turn he headed towards the bar, the barman being long gone Spook still ordered a drink.

i'll have a sex on the beach, and a pina colada for my big bad friend who's outside waiting for me

Of course, he had lied about his big bad friend. His face remained dead serious though. There wasn't any telling on what this man was going to do. Spook came in here, expecting to cause a debate about his nickname - but all he found was slaughter. After gathering up enough will, he'd spin his chair towards the center of the pub.

you know the nickname Bandit King doesn't make any sense?

Lucas took a deep breath in and let out a deep breath. The smell of technology and possibilities excited him to no ends. Baltigo was known for its technologic advancements. What better place to start following in the footsteps of his biological father. Granted, the farmer life was nice but he knew he was destined for greater things. Of course, not everyone felt that way but being the ball of sunshine he was, Lucas felt that he could do great things in the world. The issue was, he was just a lone scientist roaming dangerous lands. Thanks to his abnormal stature people left him alone but his semi-formal attire drew the attention of those around him.

Lucas's eyes wandered the area as he made his way through the city. He was left speechless by the industrial look the city adopted due to the advancements. It was something he wasn't used to since he was brought up a farm. It wasn't long before he approached a local pub. One where a group of individuals just left out of. 'Must be popular. Red Moon interesting name.' He thought to himself. A slightly shorter man made his way in just moments before. He kicked the door open with authority, must be someone trying to stir some trouble up. The logical thing to do would be to avoid what could possibly happen. Where was the fun in that? He was trying to become a pirate, cowardice would get him nowhere. Not to mention it was not in his nature to turn away just because someone had an attitude. He could also really go for a drink.

Little did Lucas know, he was walking into the lion's den. The pub of the Bandit King of Baltigo. He did not know that, however, because he didn't think to do his homework before wandering the island. Then again Lucas was not to get tied up in titles and names. Sure he wanted to be known throughout the land himself. But he needed to build a foundation and possibly net himself a crew.

After the door closed he entered calmly without a care in the world. His size gave a sense of intimidation so there was no need to make a ruckus. He noticed an individual sitting in the room with, animal-like features. 'Wait, animal-like features? Zoan user? Or is this one of those minks I have heard about?' Lucas looked with a quick glance to not stare. Not that he was scared, it was just outright not polite to do so. Lucas sat down at the bar one seat away from the man who just ordered. Lucas was getting ready to call the bartender while putting his index finger up. Before the individual one seat down called out to the Bandit King.

Things were about to get interesting.

It's the thrill in the end. In that moment when something stolen becomes mine or is it? That's the bliss I desire.

Two individuals entered into the bar, both of them of substantial height but two completely different senses of style. The first man was a rugged man, he'd be wearing a well-tailored suit with a black bow-tie, with an arrange of black and white patterns, in the eyes of the Mink he was sophisticated to say the least. The other man was dressed in a white-sleeved dressed shirt, his energy entering the room was much more relaxed, by the way his body and muscles had been lax. However before the Mink could've paid the second entry much more attention, the first man who'd sat at the bar and ordered his drink turned his stool around, making direct eye-contact with Jackal. He'd mentioned something about a bad friend waiting for him outside, so when the second man entered, he'd assumed that was the person he'd been talking about, since much time had passed since he'd entered the pub.

However, as pissed as Jackal was, he couldn't keep up serious airs for too long, in response to the man's question, the Mink broke out into laughter, actually, to the point where tears came to his eyes. "Shishishi..." the Pirate Captain uttered. "You know, I said the same thing when the Coo came... The World Government picked that name from local reports I guess... not me. It was just a buzz word around Alabasta. I'm certainly the poorest king... with no Kingdom to his name. Irony. Unite a few bandits gangs, and they'll call you strange things. I never understood that about Lesser Mink's." Jackal stated. "I'm a bandit. I'm no one's King. I just have a bad habit for stealing rare things. Though it seems this time around..." Jackal's stated, his cheerful demeanour fading as the sentence continued. "I've gotten tied up with a psychopathic mafia leader whose killed most of crew except myself and my Vice Captain." Jackal stated. "Well...." Jackal stated, snapping himself from the depressive state he'd been slipping into often, light seemingly fading out from his eyes at times. "What brings you lot to the Red Moon?" Jackal inquired.

The Mink hated long winded explanations but his mood as of late made him ramble a bit more than usual. He'd felt no killer intent from either like the prior entries, this whole event, even himself didn't know what it was truly for. Maybe he was hoping for Mother to show up herself so he could've guttered her, maybe it was truly a cry for help needing new crewmates or maybe, the new urge growing in him to hurt those who'd taken away those dare to him expanded, he'd needed a way to funnel his anger. These two seemed interesting enough, neither of them carried themselves as locals, and neither of them seemed to familiar with their surroundings. All assumptions the Bandit made, as per usual when sizing up new personages. "Oh! And can I have a glass of Milk!?" Jackal exclaimed, staring at the new barkeep in the monster of a man placed his drink order to the elements in jest, hoping that if the Rugged one made drinks, he'd obtain him one as well.

A second man had entered, just after Spook had ordered his drink, with no bartender attending. At this point, nothing stopped him from getting up, and sliding over the counter - in that cool way where a marine-cop is chasing a pirate-criminal, and the pirate-criminal runs into an alley, and the marine-cop slides over the hood of a ship-car. Nobody has time to unscrew the caps of bottles, so Spook took it upon himself to hit the top of the bottle against the edge of the counter, so that the top part could come off. After the first bottle had completely shattered from bottom to top, he decided that bottle caps were worth his time. It was hard to play this off and still remain nonchalant. When the man began to explain the intricate details of his nickname, Spook kept nodding as if he understood where places like Alabasta where. Maybe they were made up? Hah, that's a funny man, making up pretend places. What is Mink supposed to mean anyway.

yeah, I know, I've been to Mink a few times

After pouring himself a glass of red label, he'd grab another glass and pour in milk, and a finger of the red label for his new friend. Wondering if he'd notice a finger of red label. Perhaps this was a dangerous game to play. While pouring the drinks, he'd look at the guy who sat next to where he sat before. Big fella. It was in Spooks nature to ask questions.

where do you buy your t-shirts?

did your dad never love you because you were taller than him when you were ten years old?

is your dong relative to your height?

Better to get it out of the way right away. After having poured the glass of milk he slid it across the bar. If the guy who wanted it, really wanted it, he'd have to get up and go to the bar to get the drink.

what drink do you want, mr. too tall for door openings?

If it was feasible enough, he'd make it, and slide it to him. Spook intentionally waited before telling him why he was there. He'd wonder if Tintin came for the same reason.

when i walked to this place a few strangers in an alley offered my a chest full of diamonds and gold to bring down Bandit King.

He reached into his pocket, and pulled out a brown grocery looking bag. It contained a smaller plastic bag full with reefer dust. Then again, he thought about how hurtful preconceived notions can be - what if these two don't smoke? Ah to hell with it, what do they care. After rolling up the goodness, he'd get over the bar counter again and push a small table and a chair to the center of the bar. Placing an ashtray to the center of the table, he'd start lighting his delight with a zippo he kept in his front pocket. Spook reached suspiciously into his pocket on purpose, wondering if the Bandit King saw him as a potential enemy.

so i gotta ask - why join the Bandit King?

Stories gotta start somewhere right?

As Lucas held his finger up he realized that no bartender was coming instead he turned so he could face the two on his right side. He wanted to make sure he was engaged in this conversation. Might as well right? He had nothing better to do. At first, the animal-like man had a serious almost terrifying demeanor. One that was clearly his real mood. Laughter erupted from the individual after the man asked his questions. But Lucas could tell very clearly that laughter was merely an act. A means to entertain guests and nothing more. Lucas could see right through the mask the mink was wearing at that very moment. Of course, Lucas smiled in response, but he did not say a word as the Mink replied to the earlier comment. That reply turned into a short story. It would have been even better with a drink but the barkeep had all but vanished from the scene. Lucas was familiar with the Coo, he kept up with it from time to time. The name Bandit King did ring a bell but it was nice to finally put a face to the name.

Even though Lucas had not visited these places the mink spoke of, he was still aware of them. In one of his many books, he read during his younger years. 'Lesser minks, hmm so they have subspecies. Intriguing.' Everything said was being committed to his noggin adding to his already vast knowledge. Lucas did not like the idea of thieves, but he was not one to judge. He did not know this mink's upbringings or where he came from. For all he knew, the mink had to steal to survive in this harsh world. Especially in this world filled with chaos and destruction. He knew a thing or two about surviving on nothing when everything was taken. While the mink told his story Lucas reached in his pocket on his shirt and pulled out a rolled up object and lighter. He placed the doobie on his lips and clicked the lighter to life.

"Don't mind me continue on with the story." He interjected to make sure he wasn't being rude. The blunt came to life and Lucas began to take a few hits from it. Then the mink got to the part about a mafia family. It was tragic too, say the least. But that is just the natural order in this world. Sometimes it's kill or be killed. His crew got in the way of someone stronger and paid a heavy price for it. Even though it may have been cold to think such a thing, it was the truth. But it was best left unsaid to respect the fallen. Not to mention no reason to piss someone off who was oozing murderous intent just moments ago. Lucas was blunt but not stupid.

Then a question came right afterward about what brings the two to the pub. Lucas didn't realize it but he was being lumped in with the guy next to him. Before Lucas could speak the man began to move. He suddenly became the bartender in an instant. Lucas wanted to say something but there was something comical about the situation. One that Lucas was not going to let go. Not to mention he was starting to feel the effects of the drug. He snickered at the idea of this unknown guy taking over the counter like this. He pointed to a red label and began to pour drinks plus a glass of milk. That request was the odd one in the bunch. But that could also be the animal nature in the mink. 'Milk in a bar? He must be that of a cat breed.' A little note for later purposes. Maybe bribe the Bandit King with some catnip? Cats go ape shit for it.

The man who was now serving the two was starting to ask questions. Questions that received answers just as quick.

"Stepmom made them,

My stepfather loved me cause I got my height from my real dad,

Do you want to compare sizes?

As far as what drink, I guess I will have what you are having."

Lucas was impartial to drinks, as long as it was not tequila. He wasn't too fond of having a Mexican bar fight in his stomach. Best to play it safe in new lands. Then the man said something very alarming, one that would warrant a fight between the three. Especially since the newcomers got lumped in together.

"Uh, its night time and I needed a drink. Also the possibility of finding work. As far as this guy, I have no idea who he is. So if you are going to get the claws out, I will take a hard pass."

Lucas didn't really think that one out when he said it. It might hav ecome off a little racist but he was high so he could use that as a excuse. He wasn't going to take the comment back however, he was being completely serious. Getting cut up wasn't on the menu for the day. He watched the individual come from behind the counter and begin to roll up some of the good stuff. Lucas was just finishing up his own blunt. It was nice to know he wasn't the only one in the world who smoked the stuff. Most of the people on the island were against his drug. Lucas just continued to smoke as the man asked the question. Tonight was becoming most entertaining.

It's the thrill in the end. In that moment when something stolen becomes mine or is it? That's the bliss I desire.

It seems the drink of the night was scotch. Jackal wasn't particularly strong with the darkened sprite but when the Rugged One added it to his milk, a grin couldn't have helped but to manifest on his face. However, what happened next told him a bit about the man's psychology, in one swift motion, he'd slide the milk to opposite end of the bar's counter, positioning it about five centimetres before it fell off the side of it's top, well that's if it was going to make it that far. "Shishishi Smooth." Jackal stated grinning. These actions told him a lot about the man's pride, and trying to defuse the situation at hand, which the Mink understood, they'd just entered into a pub filled with bodies on the floor, this wasn't a mass murder party at all, it was suppose to be friendly shoot-the-shit chat. Him sitting so far from everyone else came off snobbish but he'd hop off from the stool's top, while the glass was still in motion sliding across the bar, and before it'd reach it's intended position, Jackal would've taken one swift leap, landed two seats down from the Rugged One's position, stopping the glass with his single claw. The movement would've been so fast, it'd seem as if Jackal disappeared and re-appeared to their position only fifteen meters away from his former seat.

Wagging his tail, he'd position himself two seats down to not startle the large man with his brisk motion, not everyone saw these kind of speeds everyday, it'd be easy to startle most. "You shouldn't. I'm always getting in shits load of trouble. It's a riot though. The marines... The revolutionaries... At this point, I'm literally everyone's enemy." Jackal stated, his sips turning into gulps, resting a portion of the beverage back onto the table. "Claws? I'm not into that kind of play. None of you are female Minks. I save my claws for my future mate." Jackal stated leaning his body backwards to make eye-contact with the blonde one, nodding to himself in approval. He'd taken the whole terminology completely wrong, maybe it was the red label, or maybe it was the second hand buzz from the herbs they'd be offering to the gods in ritual. "I didn't know Lesser Minks- I mean, humans burned herbs to the Forest God's as well. My father and I used to burn up all the time. It opens your mind to new possibilities, it just makes you a bit paranoid at times." Jackal continued on snickering at the small size of the buds they'd been rolling. On Zou, the herbs buds are usually ten times the size of the one's present, a notion he'd convey to the men in his next sentence before going, "I still haven't answered your question though. I hate when people to that. Answer your question with another statement completely unrelated. The reason you should join my crew is simple.

I don't steal for wealth or fame... Neither do I care about being Pirate King at least for now... I'm living to see how much I can make out of this life of mine. I was a slave for most of my teenage life and the freedom I've obtained allowed me to meet new people, taste new foods and sample the finest of thrills.

If you're looking for easy voyage, my flying ship isn't for you. However, if you're looking for trouble, like I said early, it tends to find me. Every minute with me is a gamble, there's always money and fortune around... The trick is... Can we win with the cards we're dealt... That's pretty much the trade."
Jackal concluded. Damn, that liquor was surely kicking in, he hadn't blabbered this much since Gilbard had joined.

The Bandit King seemed to have the world turn against him. Was he some great anti-hero/villain, setup for a hero to take him down and claim eternal fame? Or perhaps these were all just stories, chalking himself up to be greater than what people thought of him. There were lots of questions to be asked. Spook wasn't overly talkative, so asking each question that levitated around his mind wasn't going to cut it. Better be selective, and ask the right question. His speed certainly is impressive. Almost like a flicker, he reappeared next to where Spook had sat, catching the drink he'd set out for him. This verified that the Bandit King wasn't a joking manner. The Minks burned herbs? Were they hippies? Either way, he was familiar with their grass burning habit - even going so far as to mocking the size of his herbs. Amen to the comment about it giving a slight edge of paranoia.

Did this man have just one shirt that his step mother made him? Or multiple? What if his t-shirt gets dirty? His step-father loved him because he got his height from his biological father? This was a lot of information given at once.

I feel like I don't know you well enough to let you meet Willy and the Ping Pong boys.

Not even offering to take him out to dinner first, the people of Baltigo were fiends. He poured another glass of red label and slid it across the bar counter. Spook listened to the Bandit King explain his motives, and the way his crew worked. They were in a search for trouble, a permanent search. Parts of the Bandits Kings sad youth touched Spooks sensitive heart. So living with this man means gambling his life everyday huh. Wasn't that business as usual though.

Mmmm, mmm, that sounds nice and dandy to me

He took a deep hit from his trumpet, and saw the smoke dance around the light as he exhaled. After holding the glass in his hand, watching the tears of his whiskey as he let the liquid move around a little. With one go he drank it all, and in a typical fashion smashed the glass on the table.

I'm in

Spook stood up and walked towards the Bandit King. His left arm extended towards him, it was about three feet away from the Bandit King. His fingers formed in a tight fist. This was his standard way of greetings people.

My name is Spook Salvator, I'm a Marksman originating from Lulusia Kingdom - it's nice to meet you, and if possible, join your crew of troublemakers.

Perhaps the Minkman was kind enough to not shatter his entire arm if he decided to return the fist bump.

Stories gotta start somewhere right?

The man pretending to be the bartender asked the real question, one that even Lucas wondered.

Why should they join the Bandit King?

This was a real question that could set them down a dangerous path. It was not that Lucas was scared but the bodies on the floor was a good indication of what followed this creature.

Lucas tried not to think about the floor littered with bodies. Maybe the carnage on Jaya had desensitized him to death. He didn’t even really take notice of them at first because of they were dead. Dead men tell no tales, held a lot of weight to it. 'These two aren’t making a big deal about it either.’ This said a lot about these two’s characters. They were no stranger to carnage neither. ‘Maybe this is where I was meant to be.’ Lucas thought to himself. In a crazy way, he was starting to take a shine to these two. A smile crept across his face as he finished off the rest of his own blunt since he started earlier.
Lucas blinked and the mink’s position changed quickly to catch the glass sliding to an impending doom. This was a good indication of his ability. Lucas couldn’t see the mink but the shift in the air and the sudden shaking of the furniture were a good indication of his ability. Two seats down, it didn’t startle Lucas but intrigued him. ‘Moving faster than the eye can track, interesting.’

Lucas caught the glass that was slid in direction without skipping a beat. He took a swig from it to was the aftertaste left behind from the herb and cinder. He was starting to feel it but barely showed it. Except,t for the fact his eyes were blood shot.

The mink spoke on the question asked before responding to the claw remark. Lucas was a bit relieved that he could take a joke. One would be surprised how some people in the world got offended so quickly.  He looked over at the man who made the dick comment earlier.

“Hey man you asked. No need for dinner and movie just right down to the nasty stuff.”

Lucas found himself smiling, nervous about all of what the bandit king was saying. But the excitement welling up in him was outweighed it. Being public enemy from jump street was a good way to get the full taste of being a pirate. Sure it was a gamble for fledgling pirates. What better way to make a name than to jump into the deep end of things. The mink spun his tale, the funny part was he had Lucas’s attention at everyone’s enemy. It just sounded like a good time and a quick way to get stronger, or die trying. Every other reason was just a bonus for him.

Everyone’s story started somewhere and the wheels of fate were turning. The mink was off about one thing, “It’s not about the hand you are dealt it’s about how you play with it.” His comment may have come off cheesy but it held a lot of meaning behind it. At least for Lucas it did. He could have given up on Jaya after losing everything instead he pushed forward. The man was the first to accept and give a name. Of course this was after smashing his glass. Lucas gave him the look that said, ‘really?’ But that wasn’t the point. Names were finally getting revealed this was really happening. Lucas finished up his own drink while Spook gave a small introduction. It was only fitting Lucas stand up and give his also. After standing up at his full height he put the glass calmly back on the counter.

“Lucas Sturm, I am a scientist from Jaya. Self-proclaimed scientist, can’t show you any paperwork but my inventions speak for themselves. I did say I was looking for work. I can start by dealing with the Mafia first.” He thought about it, that was a pretty bold statement he just made. With his abilities and his noggin he was sure he would be able to pull something off with their help. Lucas walked up to the point where he was about three feet away. He extended his hand out in the form of a fist looking for a fist bump. Praying the mink did not leave them hanging or destroy their hands. Lucas wasn’t made of paper but he was well aware that strength came in varying sizes.

"泥棒の間で栄誉"

It's the thrill in the end. In that moment when something stolen becomes mine or is it? That's the bliss I desire.

Jackal couldn't help but smirk at the scenario, he wasn't truly hoping to obtain such strong willed men during the recruitment process, he'd went a bit to wild and to be fair, created the environment. Mourning his lost nakama wouldn't end in a day, it'd be a constant thought on replay in his memory forever. Even killing Mother wouldn't fulfil him but ruining her business, and making it his own definitely would be a defining moment. Gilbard was right, they'd- no, the Mink was approaching this situation to clinically, if he truly wanted momentum and power, to the point where his name would've been respected, he'd have to get his hand dirty but how slippery of a slope was it. Unlike most who feared change, the Bandit King welcomed it. Timing his fist bumps in a sequence, not adding any force more than necessary, the three men's knuckles joined in a three-way salute to the new adventures ahead of them. "A Marksman and a man of science. Shishishi... What a time to be alive." Jackal started. "I can't have you call me Bandit King now that you've pointed out how actually lame it is. My name's Jackal. I'm a Bandit who occasionally gets into bar-fights... Though, I'm more of plotter than a fighter. Unnecessary force can be useful at time but everything is about the timing." Jackal concluded.

Retreating his hand, he'd adjust his Calico scarf, "Welcome to the Calico Bandit Crew. Like I said, we're revered as pirates by the world... but to me, I like the dual citizenship that the titles bring. Whatever your heart desires... I'll back you. All I ask is you have respect for those of different races. As a former slave myself, I'm not interested in it. However, I'm not against those who choose to mindless chase us or pretend to follow us. Along with Gilbard, he's a funny ass guy too, dry humour is his thing... Baltigo is only the beginning. The woman who owns this area, Mother. It's our time now." Jackal concluded. The red label and second hand high was surely kicking at this point, Jackal's eyes dilated as his irises retracted but the energy that filled the room, it was indeed one of a kind. Pausing for a moment, Jackal would finish off the rest of his drink.

"Now... Shishishi... I hope you guys have fancy clothes... If not, we'll steal some. We're going to a ball in the next week or so. It'll be the conclusion of this whole fiasco. It's either us or Mother that's leaving that building alive." Jackal concluded.

Exit.

SPOOK.

Some comments about the right way to play the cards. Spook had thought about this philosophy before, and decided to keep what was in his mind, in his mind. With the three fists bumping, a new story had started.

When the captain asked them if they had some fancy clothes. Spook made a funny face. This was probably the first time he will notice his drunken Captain say something silly, out of many other times yet to come. When Spook looked down and saw his well-tailored suit with a black bow-tie, with an arrange of black and white patterns, he chuckled again. What could be more fancy than this?

His next objective was a ball next week, Spook wondered if he'd need to improve his abilities before showing his face to the captain next week. He had a few ideas in mind, some cards he could play.

This Captain of his sure sold him a tall order. Causing an entire empire to crumble? The world was about to get pretty noir for Spook. Responsibility wasn't exactly his second name. Joining a crew meant keeping secrets, group secrets - that involves trust. Could he trust pirates he hadn't met yet? Either way, sure, today was the day were fistbumps were exchanged. Though Spook was curious, if facing the gunpowder of his foe, if his Captain would catch the bullet for Spook - maybe, no, he definitely could and would. But the question was, would Spook? The thought hadn't crept up on his mind yet. But the day surely will come.

The beginning of something great.

From this moment Lucas found himself a member of a crew. That wasn't as hard as he thought it was going to be. Little did he know that hard parts were yet to come. After hearing the mink's name it all came together. Flashes of his posters came rushing through his mind at once. So much that it only made sense as to why everyone was against him. With that high of a bounty Jackal was a walking target. This only meant strength was a necessity. Lucas was certainly jumping into the deep end here. Yet, he felt no fear. He was ready for whatever came his way, at least he built up in his mind he was. Jackal spoke some more on the subject of being a pirate. That did not worry Lucas in the slightest. See he had the element of surprise on his side. Due to flying under the radar for so long he did not have a bounty. Well, he should but that is a story saved for another time.

Jackal may not have known it but Lucas was very indifferent to the various races. He saw everyone as equal. They all came from different walks of life but fate brought them all together. The world was vast enough to share, there was no point in squabbling over minor things. It did upset him a little to hear the slave part. The human race could be terrible to everyone in and outside their kind. As far as mother goes Lucas had already begun concocting his own plan to get the ball rolling.

Before the conclusion of all of this Jackal said something quite peculiar. 'Fancy clothes? A ball?' Things were moving quicker than expected. A strike at mother was a good indication of this captain's appetite for making bit moves quickly. Lucas saw this as a good opportunity to show that he is a capable crewmate. With that, he followed them out the bar. The three went their drunken separate ways.

The best was yet to come.
