Taking a deep breath, Hiro would stand in front of the door to the home of his former friend Reya. Or rather, he would stand in front of the door to the building where she used to live, before Juan left her behind and became Hiro. Almost knocking on the door out of instinct alone, Hiro would grab the knob and open the door himself since there was no one inside to let him in. ”It feels good to be in here again, even though she probably wouldn’t want me to be.” His decision to leave Reya behind on Water 7 still hung over his head as he walked around the small hut. Why did he have to leave her? He could’ve just brought her with him, protected her as they sailed the Oceans and made a map of the whole world.
He knew the real reason he couldn’t have her with him though. While the thought helped to make him feel like there was another option he knew that there was no real way he could’ve protected her, he could barely protect himself. If someone attacked the crew and he allowed her to get hurt because he was too busy fighting a strong opponent, he’d never forgive himself. Even bringing her back from Water 7 to Jaya would’ve been too dangerous, if the ship got attacked in Open Waters he’d be at risk of dying himself from his inability to swim. No matter how optimistic he thought about it, there was truly no way he could’ve brought Reya with him on his journey. Sighing as he sank down to a sitting position on the edge of Reya’s bed, the same bed that he rested in after his first encounter with the Greenbeck pirates, he was forced to come to terms with his own weakness. ”If I can’t bring Reya with me to live out her dream, I’ll just get stronger and make a map of all the places in the world I go with my crew. I’ll live her dream out for her, or die trying.”
Outside of the hut, a group of men in red cloaks would surround the building. The most outstanding of the men would take off his hood, revealing a head of bright red hair and a scar going down his right cheek. Kaito, the new leader of the Chiildren of the Sun following the unfortunate yet natural death of their former leader, would turn to his men on the left and speak only a single word to his subordinate,”Fire.” Following his words, one of the subordinates to his left would reach into the depths of his long hooded robe and produce a bazooka, which somehow managed to fit within the robe without being noticed by those around them. Lifting the bazooka to rest on his right shoulder, the Child of the Sun would fire his weapon causing a single shot to be let off in the direction of the hut in which Hiro sat.
